Book has a main map and smaller more detailed maps in some sections.

This was small enough to be easy to carry, but had enough information and maps to be a good help in getting around.

The Top Ten guidebook is the one and only book I recommend to those visiting DC.

The Top Ten guidebook is the one and only book I recommend to those visiting DC. We live in the area and still use this guidebook to discover or rediscover the tourist spots in DC. The main advantage this book is the prioritization of sites and restaurants and as mentioned above its physical size. We have many of the other guidebooks to DC, but this is the only one that we actually use. If you plan on visiting this guidebook is a must have.

I ordered several guides for washington d.c. this guide was by far the lightest one with excellent pictures and really easy to read maps. Maps you can even take out!! This is the only guide you should need! I order guides all the time for all the traveling we do and this one is by far one of the simplest and consise i have ever seen. It's really good.

We spent over a week in DC, and this book was perfect. The metro map, the street map, and the write-ups for each of the Top 10 categories were all perfect. We never were wanting for information. This book was a perfect companion to our DC vacation. You can't head to DC without this book. Plus, it's not too bulky to carry around as you discover our nation's capital!

Like another reviewer noted, the amount of info packed into this tiny, convenient-to-carry-around book is amazing (and amazingly well-organized). I'm fairly new to the area, and when my parents came to visit, they said this book was like their life jacket when they explored while I was at work. The maps, too, are super handy: you don't have to worry about juggling fifty different items while on the DC Metro, etc., since everything you need is right here. Indispensible for any trip to DC where you'll be doing any sight-seeing - even a short one.

I have used the DK top ten books in several cities. They are compact and when spare moments apear very practical. The public transportation maps can't be beat for convinence. I recommend them to anyone who travels even if you have a bigger book.

The guide offers a good balance between size and content. The information included provides good insight into DC-area attractions.
However, the format of the included map is somewhat challenging. It looks like a winning entry in an origami contest. On the positive side, the map size is OK.

This is is even more awesome than I thought it was going to be! It's a compact size and it has so much information and a lot of pictures which are really nice. It tells prices of activities and restaurants in the city, show you where the places are on a map. It has page full of things to do with the kids and things to do with nightlife. Everything you'd ever want about Memorials and it has maps of Smithsonian Museums, so you choose what you want to see then follow the map and go there! It has a portable map to. Also tells you the best shops and other sites just outside the city. It has Hotel choses at the very back of the book if your looking for one but It's only 2 pages so there is still a lot to see in this book. I totally recommend buying it!!!

I ordered this as an update to my copy of the 2002 publication of "Top 10 Washington DC", but, with all the changes that have occurred in the area in the past several years, I found very few changes reflected in the book. I work at the National Zoo, so I was very disappointed to not find a thing written about its many new features, (such as the state-of-the-art solar powered carousel), animal houses (including a compeletely renovated elephant house and grounds), and trails (a newly refubished trail featuring animals native to the US). The 2013 issue was, for me, a complete waste of my money.
