"In his witty, high-concept, high-colored flipbook “Paris Versus New York: A Tally of Two Cities” ...Mr. Muratyan uses splashy collagist art to showcase the visual beauty marks of the two metropolises."
(The New York Times)
About the Author
Vahram Muratyan is a freelance art director and graphic designer based in Paris, where his clients include Chanel, the Opéra de Paris, and the Cannes Film Festival. He is the coauthor of J'ai toujours rêvé de d'être un artiste (2010), an illustrated guide to becoming an artist. He lives in Paris and, soon, New York City, too.
Anyone who has ever visited or lived in one of these two magical cities will be riveted by the beautiful graphic designs in this book as well as amused by the side by side comparisons, often wonderfully ironic. Vahram Muratyan has distilled the essence of both cities with love and a critical eye for each of them. The book is a terrific conversation piece and a great gift for anyone who loves to travel, either physically or just in the mind.

I lived two summers in Paris and I now live in New York, I love the illustrations and comparisons between the two cities, it's a cute, clever book, a great gift to anyone or to yourself.

Witty and fun comparisons that aren't a bit 'odious' unless you'd rather live in the opposite city..like Paris and who wouldn't? Visually and graphically arresting. Each city's icons do a face-off. I'll take Amelie over Carrie anyday. Or would I?

My son mAdBen, an Account Exec at Ogilvy, met the talented Parisian graphic artist, Vahram Muratyan at a New York event. Sweet son that he is, he had him sign this book as a birthday gift for his lucky Maman. As soon as I opened the first page, I started to laugh with a joy of immediate knowledge and fun. As a writer who loves to synthesize thoughts into the fewest possible words, this brilliant creation sang to me. Clever, joyous gift of a livre. Pick it up when you need a lift.

This is a cute book that I would categorize as a "bathroom book" considering the substance of the actual reading - there is very little. It's exactly as picture - pairs of pictures comparing New York City and Paris, though with a definitely bent toward Paris. I am pleased with the purchase.
