This book is a treasure! The author has found many of the hidden gems of forest and trails in and around Atlanta. Even as a local, he found places I did not know existed. There are trails and places in-town that look like they are miles out in woods. Each location is well detailed, including maps and directions. It should be required for all Urban Atlanta dwellers who are looking for green space, casual hikes, and bike rides. I only hope that many of these places remain "hidden" and not discovered by too many people ...

Thanks very much for putting this together! Just finished up my fifth hike in the book!
I love that some of these hikes can be finished after work on a weekday if you need a nice stroll somewhere in Atlanta! I had no idea that there were so many places to get into a good hike this close to the city!

I love heading up north to the mountains to hike, but rarely get the opportunity to do so; this book offers a range of hikes for those times when you only have a few hours but are craving some time with trees and trails. There are so many spaces within 20 minutes of home and work that I've never known about, and I'm so looking forward to exploring them!
Highlights: Organized by region (ITP, North/East/South/West Metro), with distances from downtown ATL, driving directions, parking info, and public transportation info. Over 50 hikes! Great for: families (especially those with young children), anyone who relies on public transportation but wants to hike in the area, anyone with a packed schedule who wants to spend more time in the outdoors!

Wonderful selection of hikes close to the city with extremely helpful information, including detailed hiking directions and information on plants and animals, included. I was so happy to find a beautiful hike with the book and then use the clear and detailed information to stay on the poorly-marked (though wonderful) trail.

Thanks for putting this together. We are working our way down the list. I have lived in or near Atlanta for all of my (almost) 30 years and am glad to find some new weekend hike ideas. Great book with some known and some unknown trails. My husband the forester especially likes the specimen tree notes.
