Whoever wrote this particular book really understands food and accommodations.I go to St.Maarten twice a year and like trying different hotels.I have followed the advice of the book and am always amazed how accurate the descriptions are- both positive and negative.
Part of what is fun about St.Maarten, and the reason I go as frequently as I do, is that, in contrast to a lot of other islands, the food on St. Maarten can be very good. The guide critiques a huge list of restaurants and, as in the case of the hotel reviews, is always interesting and accurate. Whoever writes the guide obviously knows a lot about food and restaurants. I wouldn't have found half the restaurants that were listed in the book- they seem to find places on and "off the beaten track".
I am a very harsh critic and I infrequently write positive reviews. So I can not emphasize enough how enthusiastic I am about this guide and how much I reccomend it.
Is it absurd to give a travel guide an A+? Well I do and as I said in the title I use this particular guide as my St. Maarten bible.

This book has so many good facts. We haven't gone yet but will be soon and I've got post-its all over it marking spots. When your traveling to islands I always by the Fodor book as it is helpful from the driving direction, money, beaches and eats. Yes I recommend Fodors for any travel.

Some people go to the islands and let their hotel do all the thinking. They miss out on many of the hidden gems in this beautiful area. This guide provides everything you need to explore the islands for the first or fifteenth time. The restaurant rec's are right on and I had some amazing meals, especially in Anguilla. Fantastic guide! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to explore.

"In Focus" really describes this guide. Instead of taking along a guide to the entire Caribbean, this condensed guide is targeted at the three islands. We followed dining suggestions several times and they were always on point. If you're going to St Martin or the other islands, I strongly recommend taking this along.
