The map won't rip. It's highly detailed, so I could follow even 1-lane roads in the Golan Heights that we went on. It's coated with something that resists ink marks, but it is possible to mark on it with ball point if you are persistent. Irreplaceable map.

We didn't use this map as much as the Israel North & Jerusalem map that we also purchased for our trip, but it was helpful for navigating south of where the other map ends. It is made of waterproof and tear-proof paper, so it held up well. The space used for tourism photos could have been put to better use, but all in all, it was nice to have for driving around the southern part of the Dead Sea.

I was expecting more transportation details. Israel went through a major infrastructure project between 2000 and 2010 and both the highway system and railways were completely updated and modernized. The map is, somewhat, superficial.

The only thing I like about this map is the material it is made from: it will not rip easilly. Otherwise, there is little to recommend it. I got mine through Amazon, but the way it is folded it is clearly meant for sale through stores. Thus, it states that it includes Tel Aviv. Yes, if one considers a "map" of Tel Aviv that is 1/2 inch in radius to be useful. It merely shows where it is. This fold-out map is certainly large enough to include better maps of the various cities, but it uses much of the map's territory to feature large, useless, photographs. It would have been useful to show Jordan instead of the large photo covering the western part of that country. If you buy this map, know its limitations beforehand and be prepared to buy several additional ones--particulary if you expect to use it for travel.
