This map is small-ish in size for a US Interstate map. It's durably laminated and easy to fold. This map is comprised of 3 sections:
-the main map which shows the interstate and major highways of the U.S.
-the Mileages & Driving Times map
-the United States Physical Map
The big problem: the main map is not very detailed in the number of cities or roads shown. Surprising, since I've found other Rand McNally maps to be decent or even good in this regard. I'd rather that the main map were given much more space (even if it required using both sides), and the less-important Mileages and Physical maps less space, or combine all three into one large juicy map. The state boundaries are shown in white lines and are difficult to discern - it would be useful to have each state shown in a different color. The Unites States Physical Map on the back side is visually pretty, but is sparsely detailed. A bit of additional information is included like 22 points of interest and toll road prices.
This map might be useful for planning the overall route of a long trip across several states, but not much else. You'll still need more detailed state or city maps for actually navigating while driving. As an alternative, the laminated Streetwise USA Road Map is smaller in size, and similarly limited in detail as this one. However, the soft-laminated USA Interstate Map by Borch is much larger, richly detailed, and about the same price as either.

This is a sturdy map with a nice plastic laminate on it. It folds into a travel size. But, I did not know the map was split in half with one half on the front and the other on the back. I wanted and expected the full map on one side.

Was very disappointed when I opened this map. Not at all what I was looking for. the map is sectioned and laminated for easy folding but i would happily trade these features for a good, old-fashion, hard-to-fold map. Like an earlier reviewer said, the map is divided down the middle with one half the country on one side and one on the other. And, of course, the states I need are either split in half or on opposite sides. Considering returning on principle - it is useless to me and worth the aggravation of re-wrapping and shipping back.

I love to study maps and figure out which routes I will take. The lamination is great and it folds nicely. This should last longer than all my paper maps. I really like that you can mark on map with a dry erase marker. It shows the interstates and main roads. So if you want more detail you will have to get state maps. Only downer is the map shows only 1/2 the country on each side. I like to see my whole route on one side without having to flip it over. Overall it is a very useful map.

Purchased this for travel purposes. I can mark my route with a marker (not permanent) and then easily see if there are side trips I'd like to take. Then wipe off the markings and use it over and over again!

Great map of major interstates across the USA. But mainly only interstates and toll roads only, just a few US routes. Folds up nicely, 8 segments. 1/2 of states on one side, other on the back. Will be great for emergencies, but will be getting all 48 state maps just in case I want to take the scenic route. Is laminated and can even write on it with dry-erase markers or put stickers on it. Great for a back up map with limited space.
