Review

"Lan Sluder recently published Amazing Asheville, a new travel guidebook to Asheville and the North Carolina mountains. Asheville was called one of "America's weirdest cities" by Rolling Stone. "
      - Society of American Travel Writers

"Amazing Asheville covers what to do and see in the Asheville area. Besides in-depth coverage of Downtown, the River Arts District, Montford, Biltmore Village and other Asheville neighborhoods, it has sections on the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Blue Ridge Parkway and the Biltmore Estate."
       - French Broad MENSA Bulletin

very happy with this book. We are planning a trip to Asheville and I've already used the book to help me choose our hotels and give me an idea of things to do while there. Very comprehensive and fun to read.

My main complaint is about the Table of Contents and towns not included!! In the Table of Contents many towns that are far from Buncombe County/ Asheville are listed (such as Dillsboro and Boone), but Weaverville (IN Buncombe County, 15 minutes from North Asheville and a CUTE town), Marshall and Mars Hill (about 30 minutes away in neighboring Madison County) are not listed. Weaverville does have some index listings but if you are a newcomer, would you look for that in the index? And Mars Hill has only one index listing "Mars Hill College." Author claims he was not paid by any of the establishments, etc. but these are definitely subjective and limited views of many things discussed in the book. Some things listed as Amazing are not necessarily any more amazing than many of the things not listed as amazing. I was very disappointed with this book.
