"The Timber Press Guide to Trees & Shrubs of the Pacific Northwest is a treasure . . . this detailed guide draws you in closer to really look at, and identify, our wildly diverse flora."
About the Author
Mark Turner is a professional photographer who specializes in gardens and native plant environments. He combines a strong sense of photographic design, attention to detail, curiosity about both native and garden plants, and more than 30 years of exploring native plants in their environments. His work in the award-winning Wildflowers of the Pacific Northwest has been widely praised.
Ellen Kuhlmann is a professional botanist with extensive experience with Northwest flora. She has a background in fire ecology, rare plant research, and plant community ecology. She worked for the U.S. Forest Service for many years, and for six years was the project manager for Seeds of Success, Washington Rare Plant Care and Conservation (Rare Care), a program sponsored by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
Mark Turner's field guides will not disappoint you. I have been waiting for the release of this volume for over a year now, and pre-ordered it as soon as it became possible to do so. It is the perfect bookend to his "Wildflowers of the Pacific Northwest." He covers trees and shrubs from BC to northern California in this volume, so there might be more information than you think you might need, but his thoroughness makes up for having to page through species from out of the reader's immediate area. As was the case with "Wildflowers," his photographs are as true to color as it is possible to effect. This guide is superb addition to any serious naturalist's bookshelf!
