When I first went to the Turks and Caicos Islands, I found it difficult to find travel information in print. Sometimes there would be a chapter in a book devoted to the Bahamas; usually, there was never a map.
I bought this book to use while planning our second trip. I checked first for information that I had already discovered myself, to see how my opinion differed from the author. I believe it to be very accurate and the author's opinions to cover both the pros and cons of the subjects. And the maps are definitely worth the price of the book alone!
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it didn't have any pictures. Since the Turks and Caicos, and especially the island of Providenciales, are famous for its beaches, it would have been nice to have a few colored photographs to give the reader information as to what type of beach it is, i.e. long and narrow, wide but rocky, etc. Plus, all travel books should make you simply hunger for your destination, and one look at a T&C beach can do the trick!

We are planning a trip to the Turks and Caicos Islands in the next few weeks. We were thrilled to see this new version from Fodor's. It is loaded with answers to all the questions you might have about this up and coming destination. I highly recommend it - especially for first timers like ourselves.

This book is helpful to make you aware of what is on the island but lacks the detail that is need to help you find what you are looking for or where you are going. As you travel Turks & Caicos you'll find roads and attractions are poorly marked and mostly not marked at all. You'll become dependent on talking to other travelers for tips on how to get to places and what roads to take. If you find a beach or attraction in the book that interests you, you'll need to get travel directions on Trip Advisor and other such sites on how to get there are this book does NOT provide those details.

This is about as complete book you can get if you plan to Travel to Turks and Caicos. It makes you feel comfortable with choosing excursions and where to eat even if you've never visited before. I know firsthand some of her choices are excellent.
About the only thing I can say bad is a couple editing errors and would of liked some pictures.

I just returned from a week on Providenciales and found this book to be an essential resource; it went everywhere with us. it is the only book I found that focuses on the country. Some of the information was little vague or out of date, but that happens. I really liked the inclusion of charities on the island that visitors could support, such as Potcake place and the collection of items by Caicos dream Tours. This made it stand out from a typical travel book. I would recommend it to anyone who is going.
