Gives a brief, attractive overview of activities, attractions, beaches, food, shopping, local customs, and practicalities. Perfect for first time visitor who wants a concise guidebook. Includes sections on San Juan, North Coast, West Coast, South Coast, The Cordillera, East Coast and Islands. If you are unfamiliar with Puerto Rico, I recommend reading this book before making your itinerary. What sets this book apart from the rest are the beautiful photographs. The maps are handy,including a pocket map. The size of the book makes it easy to carry in a purse but it is heavy due to the thick photo quality paper.

I have been a big fan of DK's "Top 10" books for over a decade and have used them exptensively throughout Europe/eastern Europe. Small in size and weight, they are perfect for slipping into a pocket or purse without being cumbersome. They pack tons of info in each book, all the top attractions and even those "off the beaten path" for a variety of tastes, preferences and activities.
On Puerto Rico edition; H was born/raised there, we still have family there and visit frequently. We have given this book to several of our friends when they visit PR. We have found it to be accurate and comprehensive. Enjoy your trip!

I purchased both Fodor's Puerto Rico, 5th Edition (Fodor's Gold Guides) and much prefer this guide. The top 10 guide works well, especially when you have limited time, and when do you not.

I've used Eyewitness travel guides for other destinations because I like their easy to read layout and graphics, and compact size, but this one was particularly useless for Puerto Rico. The recommendations were very generalized and I ended up using a more detailed Lonely Planet guide I borrowed from a friend instead.
