My husband cranked the book out in two nights, but it took me a week. I'm not much into the biker scene. That being said I like the cat and mouse at play between Pat Matter and the police, especially how the perceived each other and, then, what they learned about each other after the fact.

The book reminded me a lot of Mitchell Nevin's book, "The Cozen Protocol," where a 1% biker gang called Nero's Igniters targets a cop with an extortion plot. One thing I learned from both "Breaking the Code" and "The Cozen Protocol" is now criminals work in concert with each other.

As a person who has never ridden a Harley and never really wants to, I would encourage anyone interested in true crime to buy this book.

An OUTSTANDING read! I couldn't put it down; I received the book in the mail on Monday and finished it on Tuesday. Fascinating story as told by those who lived it from both sides of the law. It was fascinating to read how Pat and Chris have taken some bad stuff and experiences -- and use them to build a strong bond and friendship based on trust.

Just finished the book. Good read. I knew people from both sides of the law mentioned in the book. Growing up in North Minneapolis the people you hung with either became cops or crooks or somewhere in between. During my own law enforcement career I had heard of Pat Matter before and of course knew Chris from the sheriff's department. I highly recomend this book. Best wishes for both of you and your families.

I was lucky enough to be a hang- around / prospect for Pat in the early 90s. I can honestly say that Pat is the most fearless and straight forward man I have ever known! This will not set well with some, but it is the truth! The book gives one a VIP ticket into a lifestyle rarely seen or even talked about. Pat was the absolute top of the food chain! I witnessed this many times first hand. Pat never flinched or hesitated. Thankfully I never met Chris! But respect the kind of man he is as well! You will read this book more than once. Thanks Pat & Chris,

This is a book you won't want to put down or even end. I'm not a book reader and I read it in two days. It is a well written book and keeps your interest paragraph to paragraph. Two different guys with two different lifestyles and two guys I liked through out the whole book..I'm keeping this book in my curio cabinet..it's a keeper!!!

Interesting read...enjoyed hearing both sides of the story. It was a quick read. I liked the back and forth as each author wrote their vision of the story.
