Thank you for telling your story Barbara!

It seemed entertaining (very enjoyable reading), but now that I'm further into the book I'm finding a lot of very useful, practical information as well.

If you like Shark Tank, and enjoy Barbara's common sense approach, then you will enjoy this book.

I read her first book- "If you don't have big breasts..." and it was good. I bought this new book thinking she wrote another book but was a little upset to see it was the same book I already read a few years back- only with a new title. Amazon should clarify this a bit better for their customers...

The subtitle caught my attention - How I Turned $1,000 into a Billion Dollar Business. I was ready to learn the ins and outs of being a moneymaking entrepreneur.

If you are looking for a good believable success story filled with business-building tips, then you'll want to make time to read Shark Tales. I thoroughly enjoyed every page!

Barbara's book is a story of growing up in a big family and how she learned to stand out from the crowd - lessons that she readily applied to the business world.

Shark Tales is not only about Barbara Corcoran but also about her wise and resourceful mother, Florence Corcoran. Her mother taught her life lessons with wisdom and humor. Barbara took those lessons and applied them to her own life and business. Barbara credits her mother with showing her about thinking creatively and not giving up when the going gets tough.

This book is written with a casual, fun and easy-to-read style. I highly recommend you have pen, paper and may be even a highlighter handy to capture the powerful business "aha's." I'm not exaggerating when I say that Shark Tales is filled with entrepreneurial pearls of wisdom.

Here are some of my business-building "aha's" -

·If you can't reinvent yourself, repackage yourself.
·People always want what they can't have or believe they've miss out on.
·Don't allow yourself to be bullied by the big guys.
·Be organized and have a system.
·Everyone loves a deal.
·Don't give up before you've exhausted every opportunity.
·Stand out as an expert in your field.
·And there are so many, many more!

This isn't the usual phony baloney high fa-looting business type book that I've learned to hate. Instead it's an honest conversation about what it really takes to succeed and each lesson is easily understood because of Barbara's great gift of story telling. I planned to read it over Easter vacation but found once I started it I couldn't put it down. Great stories, great lessons. My husband and I love watching Barbara on Shark Tank and we loved reading her book. Now our excuses for not starting that pie business are out the window and we're on our way.

P.S. Even our teenage son is reading the book and he never reads.

This book is a well-written, informative "rags to riches" story of the life of Barbara Corcoran, a/k/a "Baa-bwa" (so called by one of her business associates), one of the entrepeneurs on ABC's Shark Tank. What I most enjoyed was the way Barbara & her co-writer tied every contemporary business event in Barbara Corcoran's life to one of Barbara's childhood experiences or lessons. After reading her book, you really feel like you know Barbara. Barbara's Mother, whom she credits with teaching her life's most important lessons, must be a phenomenal person, who together with her Father raised ten children. On the set of Shark Tank, Barbara Cocoran seems a bit aloof and even a bit cold at times. This book showed me that really isn't the case. I learned she is really a down-to earth, hard-working, smart and yet fun person. I liked that she emphasized the importance of having fun. You will learn exactly what she is looking for in choosing a successful entrepeneur. Even if you do not have the entrepreneurial spirit, this is a really good read. I gave it 5 stars because once I started reading her book, I simply could not put it down.

I first saw Barbara Corcoran on "Shark Tank" and quickly saw how many businesses she skyrocketed to that next level of success. Time after time, she proves to be the "Golden Key to Success" for many entrepreneurs who stand in front of the Sharks. I had to pick up her book and learn her story. Who is Barbara Corcoran, and how does she dominate the BEST business decisions made on this popular show? I was completely taken back when I learned her story. I bought her book on Kindle, and listened to it while I worked. I felt admiration for her will to succeed, empathy for some of the choices she made in life, and valued her business and sales lessons that are engrained throughout the book. The most important fact of Barbara's success story, is that she was raised by a Mother who never told her she "couldn't do something, only that she could!" If only we can raise OUR children with these principles, imagine what the world would be like. READ THIS BOOK TODAY, and you will learn the basics of sales, business and success.

This is such a great book for showing how life lessons can be applied towards your business. I also love that Barbara points out that if you use YOUR own strengths then you can succeed. I hated school because it bored me but I was creative in other ways which I am using in my small business today. I love the ice skaiting incident in this book, check it out.
