Editorial Reviews

Review

"Tate offers a lovingly crafted biography of her sister, the late actress and fashion icon Sharon Tate. The author delivers a well-done, intimate photo-bio of a budding star that will make readers both angry and sad about Sharon Tate's premature death at the brutal hands of the Manson clan in 1969. Recommended for general readers."
--Library Journal

“The book is a treasure; the photographs are a trove of fashion’s past and a chronicle of times gone by.”
--New York Journal of Books

This is the book us true fans have been waiting years for! Finally something positive, finally something that I feel Sharon has been owed for 45 years now, as well as us true fans of hers. I opened this book today and just could not put it down, even after a nice long extensive reading it's very hard to put down. The photo's are GREAT, crystal clear quality. This book from beginning to end is nothing but pure excellence. Sharon would be so proud, so happy, so humbled. Thank you Debra for allowing us to see inside your families photo albums, and bringing these to light in such amazing quality. I could sit here and write in this little box all night long and half of tomorrow, even longer. Some folks will understand, and some won't, but for all of us who have always loved Sharon and everything she represented, we have waited years, long long years for something like this. It's difficult for me to express how nice it finally is to have something that is completely, 100% Positive for this Beautiful Lady. This is a Must, Must Read and a Must Have. The last paragraph in the book touched me in a way no other writing ever has, and I could not help but just sit there and stare at that page for a few minutes after reading it, trying to toughen up and keep the tears from welling up, but it could not be done. Although this book was nothing but purely Positive, a Quote I heard once instantly hit me. "Of all the words, Of tongue and pen, There are no sadder words, Then what might have been". I was so glad Roman included the Foreword to the book, that was truly touching and I'm glad we finally got that. A truly amazing book, for a truly amazing and beautiful woman. Thank you Debra, you will never know how much this means to all of us. Thank You So Much. :)

Finally there comes a book that celebrates the life, beauty and impact of actress Sharon Tate instead of focusing on her untimely demise. It is written by her sister Debra who new her best. There are lavish photographs, well chosen, that highlight her amazing beauty. The quotes by people her knew her (including Hollywood celebrities) and the text by her sister bring out her inner beauty as well. Patty Duke puts it best when she says Sharon's inner beauty exceeded her outer beauty if you can imagine that. You will be captivated and entranced by this book and by the person who was Sharon Tate. Highly recommended.

for ages i've wondered why someone hadn't gathered together photographs of the most beautiful woman, possibly ever, and put them together in a book. i have collected about 1500 photographs of sharon over the years - and go through the internet, ever hopeful of stumbling over a new one. i thought of putting together a collection in book form myself, but couldn't even begin to think what it would take to get the photographers rights to each shot...
but debra has done a lovely job - there are a couple of photographs i didn't know (aside from the early family photographs, many which were new to me as well) - and the ones i did know are presented here in a lovely, large format - on a great paper stock.
the quotes about sharon are wonderful - and show her to have been a truly unique soul. as beautiful on the inside as she was exquisite on the out. and to comprehend that thought, is mind-boggling!
all in all - a book worthy of her intense beauty.

I always wondered why there wasn't a book about Sharon's life. Her fabulous sense of fashion and the amazing person she appeared to be. When I saw her sister Debra had a book coming out I was thrilled. I received my book today and it's fantastic!!!! There's tons of great photos (some never seen before). Instead of a biography Debra wanted to feature lots of photos and include memories family, friends, & co stars had of Sharon in her way too short 26 years. My favorite is reading about Sharon's sense of fashion and what designers and boutiques she loved. I have long admired Sharon's sense of style and this book captures not only her inner beauty but her obvious outer beauty!!!! This is a MUST buy!!!!

Seldom do celebrity pictorials capture the essence the subject with such clarity that once the last page is turned the reader has the urge to revisit page one to take another look through. One has to go back 30 years to Alexander Walker's brilliant photo essays of Greta Garbo and Joan Crawford to find an equal to this gem of a picture book. Stunning photographs flow beautifully by with heartfelt memories that allows the reader understands why iconic Sharon Tate's amazingly interesting life maters and why she still an influence in the 21st century. Debra Tate has created a masterpiece of a pictorial book for her sister.

Amazing book, so much more than I expected (heavy coffee table book). If you are a fan it is a must. It is so great that her sister put out this book, there is something so different and intimate with her actual sister putting this together, plus pictures that I have never seen. An amazing recollection and tribute to the stunning beautiful Sharon Tate. I agree with another reviewer it is wonderful to see a book that celebrates her life! Incredibly well done Debra!
