Editorial Reviews

Review

“The greatest strengths are No Easy Answers”, “Research Report”, “Policy Questions”, & “The Real World” boxes. The organization of the textbook.”  ~Jeanine Pontes-Boelter, Sonoma State University

“The greatest strengths are the readability, the clear and concise presentation, and the brevity.”  ~ Linda Petroff, Central Community College

“Engaging and does not overdo the technical language. The themed essays are timely and relevant and would spur student interest and discussion.” ~ Wanda Clark, South Plains College

“Research is up-to-date and attempts were made to make the information relevant to today's students.” ~ Laura Pirazzi, San Jose State University

“Clear, readable, interesting, good coverage, and reasonably short for a lifespan text.” ~ Stephanie Stein, Central Washington University

“The authors do a good job of consolidating information, presenting interesting discussion topics, and providing students with opportunities to test their knowledge.” ~ Alisha Janowsky, University of Central Florida

I would recommend to any teacher or student.

If I were to make a suggestion, it would be for the authors to rewrite portions of the book using sound logical principles versus poorly articulated opinions.

The book is in great condition...HOWEVER, I was under the impression that the mydevelopmentlab.com access code was coming with the book and it didn't! I bought the book new for that reason and am very upset about it. Now I have to buy the code too!

I cannot believe this has been revised 5 times. It is just plain poorly written. When I'm studying for a class, I don't have time to reread an awkwardly worded sentence over and over until I understand what they're talking about. If you have an option of using another book on the topic, please do so.

This product needs to inform people that it DOES NOT COME WITH THE ACCESS CODE! I'm mad I bought it.

While this book would be good for an undergraduate level, I think they could have used some more cultural sensitivity in writing the book. It was an easy read, however and the content was very easily grasped.

I purchased this book for an online class, and was under the impression that I would also be getting the access code that is REQUIRED for my course. Now I have to shell out an additional $45.00 for a lousy access code...so NOW my very first assignment will be late. This really irks me.

On one hand, the book provides a lot of relevant information about the evolution of the human mind from prenatal to adolescence. However, at times the authors in the book use a lot of circular reasoning and redundancy to prove a point rather weakly. Also, much used in the book to refer to children is the pronoun she, rather than the inclusive she/he or they. So this here points to an agenda, make of it what you will. If I were to make a suggestion, it would be for the authors to rewrite portions of the book using sound logical principles versus poorly articulated opinions.

I received the book very quickly. Book was listed in good condition. I believe it was more like "fair condition." The front cover was rolled back and torn, pages had been highlighted & underlined. I don't believe it was worth the $103 I paid for it. Slightly disappointed. Will be more careful next time.
