About the Author

Lisa Jakub is a writer. She retired from her 18-year acting career at the age of 22, in search of a life that felt more authentic to her. Lisa escaped from Hollywood and moved to Virginia with her husband, where she has dedicated herself to her profound respect for a well-told story. In addition to being a writer, Lisa is a traveler, a yogi, and a dog-mom.

More About the Author

Lisa began her acting career at the age of four in Toronto, Canada. For the next eighteen years, she worked consistently in the film industry in Los Angeles, in projects that ranged from Hollywood blockbuster (Mrs. Doubtfire, Independence Day, Rambling Rose, Matinee) to cutting room floor (you wouldn't have heard of them, anyway).

At the age of 22, she realized that there must be more to life than premieres and pretending to be other people. She left the film industry and ran away to central Virginia, in search of something that felt more authentic to her.

Lisa is now a writer and still lives in Virginia with her husband and their rescue dog.

You can read more from Lisa at Elephant Journal, Thought Catalog, Vanichi Magazine, ASPCA, Yoga Magazine and Hello Giggles, where she is a contributing writer. Lisa's writing has also been featured in Huffington Post, LA Times, Parade, MSN, Newsweek, TODAY.com, CNN and many other international publications.
