St.Therese of Lisieux...called The Saint of the Little Way ... died in her early 20s after a struggle with TB.(same illness and at about the same age as John Keats) Her honesty, the purity of her search, the story of her life ...is an inspiration. I wanted this book in my Kindle so that it would always be near at hand... when I need faith-building and uplifting. This is my favorite saint. There are many who lived much longer, more dramatic lives ... but the way of St Terese of Lisieux is applicable to all. Once you read... her spirit lives with you forever. A classic.

I'm intrigued by this because it's the first time I've personally been exposed to what I'd call a Christian version of Loving kindness. Some of the religious expression doesn't translate well to modern reading but I definitely will be giving this work a lot of thought.

St. Therese's Autobiography. My husband got this for me on Kindle as part of a free pkg. I did not need it as I already own it! Oh well, it' a beautiful, sad story. Love her, poor thing. Her life was in France in the 1800's. She was a nun, the youngest of 4 sisters. Therese died a horrible death at 24,of TB. Her sister, also a nun, insisted on taking photos of her, even as she was feverish & in pain. She felt they might be the last ever taken of her, whom she knew to be a living saint. She was imaginative, & funny, a relatable person with real problems & amazing insight. No wonder she was named a Doctor of the Church. Her kindness, even to cruel people is told here, & her 'Little Way' to heaven, is explained. She learned to offer up sacrifices that are small, but sincere, for souls. I took her name as my confirmation name. St. Therese, ora pro nobis.

This work begins in an almost treacly fashion, but along the way it draws you in with its simple yet profound message. In the end you find your eyes opened by the simple beauty of the book.

What more can be said about the extrordinary life of St Therese of Lisieux? This book is timeless! It's an amazing story of a very young girl's love for the Lord Jesus Christ. For her age(15) she is amazing because she is at such a young age in touch with her mortality. She realizes at such an early age that this present world is not her home and that she is living in exile while on earth and she is looking forward to the prospect of an eternity in heaven with the king of glory Jesus Christ. This is something most people during thier entire lives never grasp. This live is to be lived in a manner that prepares us for eternity. St Therese's live is such an object lesson! I've already read this book twice and will proubly read it more because it inspires one to live for virtue. And to leave the things of time for the things of eternity!
