Ione’s second MoonBound Vampires paranormal (after Bound by Night) deftly uses a mixture of complex rivalries, primal violence, and sex to portray a society in which frequent vampire enslavement provokes a civil-rights dispute. Hunter, leader of the MoonBound Clan, needs help against vampire-hunters from nearby Seattle. His intended mate, Rasha, and her twin sister, Aylin, are sent to MoonBound by their father, the brutal leader of ShadowSpawn Clan, to see whether an alliance between MoonBound and ShadowSpawn is sustainable. Rasha, raised on mayhem as entertainment, thinks MoonBound is weak—Hunter allows human hobbies, like video games. But Aylin, a lifelong outsider because of a birth defect, finds hope in Hunter and MoonBound, although the Clans will go to war if Hunter mates with the wrong twin. Together, Aylin and Hunter must balance responsibility with desire in the face of increasing human trouble, inter-Clan espionage, and their own vampiric natures. Ione’s characters are relatable and sympathetic both because of and despite their id-drenched setting, and Ione’s flavor of vampirism produces a fascinating mixture of authoritarianism, atavism, and compassionate humanity that works on multiple levels. After agreeing to wed a rival's daughter to form an alliance, Hunter, a vampire clan leader, must break an ancient curse while facing his misgivings about the other clan, his aversion to his would-be mate and his blazing attraction to her twin sister. After agreeing to marry Rasha, the firstborn daughter of the ShadowSpawn vampire clan, Hunter, the leader of the MoonBound clan, has immediate second thoughts. He's always known that ShadowSpawn follow a heavy-handed and sometimes-cruel code of conduct known as the Way of the Raven, but he's shocked by Kars' brutal and despotic leadership, and the more he learns about ShadowSpawn's harsh treatment of Rasha's twin sister, Aylin, the more he despises the man. However, the vampire race is in peril, and creating alliances seems crucial to survival. Ever since humans discovered the existence of vampires, they have enslaved them and experimented on them, and hostilities are escalating. In theory, a match between Hunter and Rasha makes sense, but when the betrothal is announced and Rasha refuses to go through a series of expected trials, Hunter becomes more uneasy. Aylin, despised by her own clan for her physical weakness and gentle nature, steps up to the task and, during the quest, finds powers she never knew she had, suddenly becoming a valuable commodity. To Hunter, she's become much more than that, and he will do everything in his power to protect her and find a way to marry her, preferably without causing war among the clans, while also doing all he can to keep vampires safe. Ione has created a fascinating vampire world steeped in Native American traditions and lore and developed a path to happiness for Hunter and Aylin that is fraught with potent and poignant internal and external conflicts. The action-packed plot and creative worldbuilding keep us enthralled; the romance and sexual tension keep us emotionally invested.

Hunter is set to mate with a rival clan members daughter. He will do it to keep peace and try to keep his clan safe. He has to also break an ancient curse few know about to save his future children. he will need help to do so. Hunter doesn't expect his intended mate to not want to save their future children but her twin steps up to help out. The girls are totally different and this twin cares. Now Hunter not only has to face the challenge but also face the fact he is falling for the twin he can't have. He will face a war if he doesn't mate with the right twin and many of the vampires in his clan may die. He will have to decide what is really important and what is worth the risk.

Hunter is a great leader. He has to make many decisions for the better of the clan that some see as harsh. He has had a bad past and he has made sure to make his clan different from the one he was raised in. He wants his vampires to be happy. I really enjoyed getting to see different sides of him. Rasha is his mate to be and I have to say I hate her so much. She is a truly evil woman who will do whatever to get what she wants and doesn't have any problem using people to get what she wants. She looks down on most and hates the way Hinter does everything. Aylin is Rasha's twin and is for sure the better of the two. She is caring, sweet yet can be tough when it is needed. She has been looked down on and treated horrible her whole life. I was glad to see her come out of her shell with Hunter and his clan. She truly becomes a great woman in a place she can open up in without fear of being hurt.

The first book was wonderful and I couldn't wait to read this one. It did not disappoint me at all. I love getting to see more of the clans and how they each are run. You also see more about how they came to be with Hunter's story. I like how Hunter may seem hard but he is also one who makes sure his vampires have down time to let go. He also makes sure they have training as he knows they have to stay on their toes. There is lots of different kinds of action in this book. From the test he has to face to hunters after the vampires to rival clans. Aylin is a great addition to the story. She is someone always considered weak but she shows just how strong she can be. her and Hunter are a great match even when they know they shouldn't be together. They try to deny what is between them. Rasha I have to say I kept hoping she would get her butt kicked as she clearly needs it. There is plenty of characters I hope to see more of as this is a fantastic series so far. I really can't wait for more. If you are looking for a new amazing paranormal romance series I would say pick this one up.

I won an advanced copy of this book through a Goodreads contest.

I won an advanced copy of this book through a Goodreads contest.  I pretty much started reading it the same day that I finally received the copy.  Sadly work got in my way and I was forced to put the book down while I actually earned the green to pay for my shoe and book habits.

Is this a standalone book?  Although this is book two in a series (I am hoping a long series, but I haven't done any digging to see how many books may be planned), I think that a person could get away with not having read the first.  However, by skipping the first book, a person is going to be missing a lot of the world-building that was done. Plus, let's face it, you'll miss the yummy Riker's story.  I recommend reading book one before starting this one.

What do I like best about this world?   Although I've read many different books with vampires, I think this one is unique in its spin.   The vampires aren't sparkly- they're great warriors, and their origins are completely different for me.  The women in the books are not excessively stupid.  And I'm intrigued, I want to know more. I want to find out 'whodunit' (sorry, won't give a spoiler and actually say specifically what I'm referring to- even though I really want to!)

Would I recommend this book (and series)?  Yes, I would definitely recommend the book to those who like a good paranormal romance. And yes, to the series as well.

Do I plan on reading the remaining books in the series?  YES!  I can't wait for the next book.   I was just sitting here thinking - whose story would I like to read next.   And the name that most comes to mind is Myne.  I can't wait to read his story.

Quick Review : Two words: Larissa Ione!!!

    NUMBER OF HEARTS: 5
    REVIEW:
In Chained by Night we pick up a few months after where we left off in Bound by Night (bk1), with Hunter waiting to be mated to a rival clan’s first daughter. But this is not a mating of love, but one of duty. Even so, Hunter is willing to do what needs to be done to protect his clan. So when Hunter’s intended mate is attacked outside his clan’s walls he runs to her rescue. Once she is safe Hunter is happy to see that she is more than he could have wished for.

Aylin is strong, feisty and determined. Unfortunately, she has been told all her life that she is nothing and noone. But in Chained by Night Aylin learns so much about herself and grows into an amazing person. One of the many things that Alyin learns is that she loves a man that can never be hers.
Rasah is Hunters intended mate. And let me tell you I hate this girl. I mean I wish there was a deep dark hole for her to fall into. Rasah, has no problem taking what she wants no matter who she hurt or what stands in her way. Not even her sister.
This book was Awesome sauce. I honestly don’t think that I have met a Larissa Ione book that I have not fallen in love with. And like all of Ms. Ione’s books, Chained by Night kept me up late at night and turning that next page to see what would happen. If you have not read Bound by Night you need to start there.
I am hoping that Myne’s story will be told next. Although there are many others that need a story too :) Either way I will be very happy for the next book in this series.

Seriously, Larissa Ione can do no wrong... EXCELLENT read! I will admit that I didn't love book #1. Yes, I liked it, but after devouring her Demonica and LoD books like the world's most decadent treat, I wasn't sure if I was going to be in for the long haul with Moonbound Clan. I can tell you with 100% certainty now that I AM! :)

Picking up where Bound by Night (book #1) leaves off, Hunter is resigning himself to a lifetime commitment to a woman he doesn't even like, let alone love. In an effort to save his clan he made a deal with the clan chief of another to marry his daughter, thereby strengthening both clans. Unfortunately, this isn't the only hardship. The humans are coming out en masse to try and destroy the vampires and life for the foreseeable future is looking challenging.

Action-packed, sexy, and intriguing with a super strong female that I adored, an incredible alpha male just soft enough around the edges to entice, a hated antagonist group that sickened and a group of supporting cast that will have you loving and hating with equal measure, Chained by Night was a 'stay up extra hours' engaging read that had me wanting the next book of the series immediately.

Highly recommended! Though I do suggest reading the series in order for maximum enjoyment.

Chained By Night (Moonbound Clan Book 2) Larissa Ione Review fro

Chained By Night (Moonbound Clan Book 2) Larissa Ione
Review from jeannie zelos book reviews
I love Larissa’s writing style. There are books that are good but simple reads, then there are authors like Larissa, who consistently produce works which have multi stranded plots, and are so much more than a simple, easy read. Even though this series contains several linked plots, this book, and book one, are both well written and all plot openings dealt with. I hate when a plot is opened but left, and I’m wondering “ what happened there??” Its one of my pet hates and that's never happened to me in Larissa’s books, both this series or others of hers I’ve read.
So, we pick up where the last book left off with Hunter having reluctantly agreed to Mate Rasha. We met her and her twin Aylin in the last book and its a true Evil and Good twin – of course poor Hunter is facing a lifetime with the evil twin. Its not til they come to Moonbound though that he realises just how different they are, and just how like his father Kars of the Shadowspawn clan their father – is. Cruel and oafish, and Rasha truly is her fathers daughter. Hunter dislikes her more the more he gets to know her, and yet her twin has a pull for him he’s finding it hard to resist. Poor Hunter – what a terrible problem. He’s such a true leader, ready to sacrifice himself for the good of the clan but events overtake him....
Alongside that problem he also needs to undergo some deadly tests in another world, and fight off a war with not just Shadowspawn but another clan. Then there’s the humans who are stepping up their killings of vampire,s and have plans to rid the world of them. Along with that we can’t forget the vampires old arch enemy Daedelous, the  company that controls and runs vampire slavery and uses them for horrific secret experiments – oh and there’s a possible mole in the clan.
Its got a great mix of characters, some we can look up to such as Hunter and his top people, some real cruel and complex characters we can love to hate and some that are frankly still a bit of a mystery such as Myne. There’s something about him, the more we learn of his past the less we really know of him it seems to me....I really enjoyed getting to know Aylin better, she intrigued me from the last book. The plots are a great mix of new(ish) ones and the overall story arc of the vampire/demon mystery that runs through the series. Clearly there’s a big battle to come from the hints dropped in this book, and personally I think it’ll be vampires v humans but...it could be vampires v other vampires, or other demons perhaps? or maybe Daedelous will pick up the action – a huge money making corporation doesn't want to lose its income source without a fight. That’s what I love, pondering what will happen while getting my romance fix too! Once again its a novel packed with all action as usual, but perfectly worked out and seamlessly knitted into a book that hard to put down and along with the first will join my keepers file.
Stars: Full Five, a great and satisfying read.
    ARC supplied by publisher.

Chained By Night was such an exciting instalment in the Moonboun

Chained By Night was such an exciting instalment in the Moonbound Clan Vampire series, this book was so much more enjoyable than the first one.

The main storyline of Chained By Night is the arranged mating of Moonbound's clan chief Hunter to the enemy clan Shadowspawn chief''s eldest daughter Rasha, traveling with her is her twin sister Aylin who has been shunned her entire life by their clan for a deformity that she was born with and is treated poorly.

When Hunter mistakes Aylin for Rasha and she thinks that he's someone named Roger, sparks fly and the chemistry goes through the roof, until reality sets in and the realisation of each others true identities come to light, fighting their attraction to one another while Hunter finds his future mate Rasha abhorrent, when Hunter is made to complete three deadly tests to defeat an ancient curse he finds himself accompanied by Aylin after Rasha refuses, which only makes his decision to distance himself from her even harder.

With a greater threat of humans trying to hunt them down and destroy them and a traitor inside the clan, this is on it's way to being one of my favorite series, I have high hopes that the third book will be Myne's, the slivers of story we got of his past has me in dire need to read his story.

A great series by a fantastic author.
