Publishers Weekly

In Miller’s lackluster contemporary series opener, 18-year-old Hadleigh Stevens’s wedding is rudely interrupted by Tripp Galloway, who sweeps into the church of their small Wyoming town’s and literally carries Hadleigh out so she won’t marry the wrong man. Hadleigh’s vulnerable heart is broken twice that day when she discovers that Tripp isn’t the right man, either; he’s only keeping a promise to her dead older brother by keeping an eye on her. Ten years later, Hadleigh remains single but has formed a marriage pact with her two best friends, swearing they will each settle for “true love or nothing.” She crosses paths again with Tripp, who is divorced and back home to take care of his ailing father, but this time, their relationship grows. Miller (Ragged Rainbows) treads familiar ground with her detailing of close-knit small town life, developed characters, sweet romance, and a hint of cowboy excitement. However, a strong reliance on internal angst rather than external action slows the story’s forward motion. (June)

"Miller's third Stone Creek novel gets as hot as the noontime desert. Ten years ago, Tripp Galloway stormed into the church, tossed teenager Hadleigh Stevens over his shoulder, and walked out, doing just what her late brother and his friend would have done—stopping her from a potentially disastrous marriage. Now after ages away, Tripp is back in Mustang Creek to help his stepfather with his ranch and hoping to mend his fences with Hadleigh. But the resentment remains, and Tripp knows getting back in Hadleigh's good graces won't be easy. VERDICT Two appealing protagonists who need to come to terms with their feelings, a cast of engaging secondary characters—a footloose dad is memorable—and an agreement between Hadleigh and her two BFFs not to marry for anything but true love drive the leisurely plot of this touching, down-to-earth story that provides fans with a realistic community in a glorious landscape and deftly launches Miller's latest contemporary Western series. Miller (Big Sky Secrets) lives in Spokane.

    I Also Recommend:

Miller does an excellent job of introducing her readers to Bliss

Miller does an excellent job of introducing her readers to Bliss County. You really get a sense & feel for the town and surrounding area. Miller’s calm, quiet, yet captivating writing style melds with the community that she develops. You can easily picture this small town community and the surrounding ranch-land. Personally, one thing that would have added something to this novel would have been an explanation of what this marriage pact was. Miller tells you who is involved & alludes to it, but never once tells the reader exactly what the pact encompasses.

This is a very character driven novel. The main characters, their pasts, and their preconceptions shape the storyline like no other. The entire cast of this novel is very well put together. Readers get a sense of who’s who in Bliss County while really getting to know the main characters. A sense of family and community shines through the entire novel, making you feel right at home.

As a whole, this was a great novel and a brilliant introduction to Miller’s new series. I can’t wait to read more.

    3 1/2 STARS

I wish it was a longer story, I wanted to see more of the characters interact with each other. This did give a lot of their backstory. At times the relationships seem rushed. I like the characters. Want to know more about them.
Had s few love scenes that I skipped over.

Three friends want to get married. So they decide to make a pact. Too keep trying, too support each other, get out their. There professional lives are going great but they know they want a family.

Hadleigh Stevens at eighteen was about to get married when Tripp Galloway came in the middle of the wedding and carried her off. He told her about her fiancé some information he knew, then he left town again.

Hadleigh had a crush on Tripp for years. He was her brother's good friend. Hadleigh owns the quilt shop in town and makes and sells quilts on line. She does a good business. She is all alone after all of her family has died.

Tripp has sold his business and has come home to the ranch. He finds his step-father in bad health and ranch worn down. He wants Hadleigh to be friends again.

I would have liked to see more of Tripp and his step-father Jim. It seems like Tripp gets home and Jim leaves. Then Jim starts a fast relationship. It just seems too rushed.

The setting is small town Mustang Creek, Wyoming.

I was given this ebook to read and asked to give honest review of it by Netgalley and Harlequin.

Don't buy because the book is totally blank. No one seems to care that this has happened to a really good author. I guess i have just wasted my money. Tried to archive as was suggested but that doesn't fix the problem. The sample read was good.

The Marriage Pact by Linda Lael Miller. I enjoyed this book very much and can hardly wait for the next one.
Hadleigh Stevens was coming close to saying "I do" when Tripp Galloway came to stop the wedding. Tripp dodged the blow, hoisted
Hadleigh off the floor and slung her over his right should, fireman-style. Ten years later Tripp comes back to town to stay and help his dad with the ranch.

I received the extraordinary, phenomenal, captivating, engaging, well-written Harlequin romance novel The Marriage Pact (The Brides of Bliss County, #1) by Linda Lael Miller free through Goodreads First Reads.
Hadleigh is at the altar getting ready to marry Oakley and Tripp comes storming in, puts her over his shoulder, takes her to a diner, and
tells Hadleigh about Oakley and his girlfriend and two children. Hadleigh asks him to take her out of town with him and he says he can't because he's married. Hadleigh is more upset that Tripp is married than him breaking up her wedding. Hadleigh comes to a realization that when Tripp had shown up at her wedding, she had hoped it was for true love. Ten years later Tripp's divorced and comes back to town to help his dad out with the ranch and wants to mend things with Hadleigh. When Hadleigh and Tripp start seeing each other, sparks fly off the charts.
Hadleigh, Melody, and Bex have a Marriage Pact to work together to find Mr. Right for themselves and each other. I loved reading Hadleigh's story and can't wait to read the next two love stories in the series.
Read the romantic, breathtaking, wonderfully written, highly recommended love story The Marriage Pact (The Brides of Bliss County, #1) by Linda Lael Miller.

THE MARRIAGE PACT is the first book in the new “The Brides of Bliss County” series. First up is Hadleigh Stevens. Growing up, Hadleigh lost her parents young so her big brother and her grandmother were her support system. Her brother’s best friend, Tripp Galloway, was her childhood crush. Yet when Tripp walked into the church and ruined her wedding, infatuation turned to hatred. Now that Tripp’s back in town to help out his father, he’s looking to patch things up with Hadleigh. Can they make it work?

THE MARRIAGE PACT is a sweet western romance. Hadleigh is a sweet girl who has been burned by too many Mr. Wrongs. She and her two best friends, Melody and Bex, have made a pact to find their Mr. Right – even going so far as inspiration/wish boards with pictures, etc. The three women have very satisfying careers, but want to find true love, too. THE MARRIAGE PACT is sweet and sentimental and very fluffy. If you’re looking for a lighthearted and humorous romance to cuddle up with on the beach, THE MARRIAGE PACT is for you.

Storyline had potential but never developed. Only about 50 pages

Storyline had potential but never developed. Only about 50 pages at most are on character storyline. Rest is spent on character reflection of their past and families to the point she was repeating herself. I have read nearly all of Linda Lael Miller's books and for the first time I'm very disappointed in the telling of this story. I hope the next few books in this series are stronger.

Love. This. Book. From page one I couldn't get enough of Tripp.

Love. This. Book. From page one I couldn't get enough of Tripp. He storms into Hadleigh's wedding with as much force as a bull and takes control. Then leaves. From page one I had to keep turning to see how Tripp and Hadleigh's story would end up. As par for the course with Linda's books, there are twists and turns that you don't expect. She has a way of taking routine troupes, like second chances, and flipping them upside down. It's one of the reasons I love her books.

Hadleigh holds onto some resentment from Tripp carrying her out of her wedding ten years ago--rightfully so. I'm pretty sure I would as well. With the help of her best friends she figures out away to let go of the past. Yay! Of course Tripp's determination helps.

Tripp is coming home after ten years to reconnect with the land, his family ranch, and life away from the city. He's got his own problems the least of which being his attraction to Hadleigh, his best friend's kid sister. Knowing that he hurt her makes it harder to go see her the first time, but he still ends up at her house before his ranch. Tripp is a hard working cowboy with a heart of gold. I absolutely adored him.

Linda Lael Miller delivers again with The Marriage Pact. I can't wait to read the rest of this series!

In the past I've enjoyed books by Linda Lael Miller. I found her writing to be entertaining, now however I find
The Marriage Pack a difficult read. Not difficult in the complexities of the writing or characters, but difficult because of the main female
character. Ms Miller writes of a younger woman (28 years old) as a spineless, whiner, and self-absorbed female, and one I can not relate
too even a tiny bit. I had a hard time just keeping my mind on reading when in actuality I wanted to slap the main female character,
Hadleigh, upside the head.  Sorry Ms Miller, but this book just doesn't cute it in my book.

I agree with those who said this a a disappointment. I love Linda Lael Miller's books and have read them all. This one fell way short of her others. I was very surprised. The storyline really had the potential to be very touching and heartwarming. It was too broken up. I realize this was about the marriage pact but there was too much about the friends. Hadleigh's friend Melony was way over the top. (Hadleigh finally goes on a date with a man she has been in love with all her life and Melony sits at Hadleigh's house and waits for her to come home. Who does that?). The ending was fine but could have been a LOT more romantic. For the first time ever when it comes to Ms. Miller's books, I am not sure if I will get the rest of the series.

The Marriage Pact is the first book in the all new The Brides Of Bliss County by the incomparable queen of western contemporary romance Linda Lael Miller.

I adored this book and I devoured each and every page, the writing is so well done it's hard to put this book down, it's even harder once you've realised that you've reached the end, and won't get to read the second book till next year.

I love the idea of this series, three best-friends who make a 'marriage pact' that no matter how long it takes they will all marry their true loves and have a family.

This definitely appeals to Hadleigh Stevens, who is all alone in the world with no family left alive, enter Tripp Galloway back from years away (ten to be exact) running his own private charter company which he recently sold to come back home to help his Dad who's been sick with their rundown farm.

Hadleigh and Tripp have quite a bit of history between them, best-friends with Hadleigh's deceased older brother Will, he took it upon himself ten years ago to kidnap her from her own wedding to save her from making the worst mistake of her life, having been in love with Tripp for as long as she can remember, she hoped that maybe they could be together, except for one shock revelation that put an end to her hopes and dreams.

So when Tripp finds his way to her door, it's fair to say that Hadleigh is far from happy to see him, but Tripp is determined that this time he will do things right, and convince her that they were made for each other and that they belong together always, he just has to find a way to get Hadleigh to agree.

This was such an exciting start to a series, from the gorgeous cover, to the storyline and the extremely loveable characters, this book is one of my favorite books of the year, highly recommended.
