    Breakable is the retelling of Tammara Webber's fantastic book Ea

    Breakable is the retelling of Tammara Webber's fantastic book Easy, but this time we get Lucas/Landon's side of the story.




    Being a huge fan of Easy, to say that I was beyond excited when I discovered that this book was being written is not a lie (a happy dance may have been involved).
    And I have to say that I adored Breakable probably more so than Easy, and that's because of Lucas, his story was always so much more intriguing to me than Jacqueline's was, so to open the book and not only find that we get Easy from his point of view but we also get at the start of every chapter his past, after the heartbreaking events that took his Mom away from him and in a sense his childhood innocence which also left him with a world of guilt, we get a look into his life after the event that changed his and his Dad's lives forever and up to where we first meet him in Easy.




    Punishing himself with alcohol and drugs, we see Lucas lose his sense of self, failing at school he just doesn't care, it doesn't help that after his Mom's death that his Dad closed himself off, and barely speaks to him, which makes Lucas believe even more that his Dad blames him for what happened to his Mom when he was thirteen.




    After a downward spiral that lands him in jail, Charles a friend of his parents helps him to get back on his feet and to make something of himself, and it's through hard work and perseverance that he accomplishes just that, which ultimately brings him to the class where he notices Jacqueline for the first time, while she remains ignorant of his existence until the night she is almost raped, saved by Lucas she tentatively starts to let Lucas in, but will his past hold him back from moving forward with his life and find happiness with the first and only girl he's ever loved?




    I love this trend that seems to be happening with the New Adult genre with the books being rewritten in the males point of view, I also seem to find them more enjoyable than the original story, one nitpicky thing I just wish that the epilogue was set much farther in the future than just six months, I wanted to know where Lucas and Jacqueline were in say ten years time and what they were up to, but that's just one little thing that doesn't affect the story in any way.




    For those of you who were big fans of the first book, you definitely need to pick this book up, Tammara has written a story that far surpasses the first and will leave you clamoring for her next release.




    Highly recommended.

    Wow!

    Lucas was my first book boyfriend. Only a few pages into Easy and I was hooked. Breakable is just as amazing. The author is a very gifted writer. Her word flow is smooth and captivating while sounding intelligent but not overly-complicated. I love the subtle humor as well!

    Disappointed

    After reading her first book I was really excited to get this and as I started reading I started to get bored as it is pretty much the same as the first and I just finished re-reading Easy. I skipped the last 30 pages after Buck attacked Jaqueline at the house. Not really happy with the way this book turned out.

    I thought this story was FANTASTIC! The uniqueness of the past and present with the alternating POV's from Lucas’s perspective kept it fresh so it never once felt like Easy was rehashed. It was incredible delving into the world of Landon Lucas Maxfield and finding out all the details about him, his life, and growing up.

    Getting to learn about Landon's past after a tragic event was so heartbreaking and emotional. It was interesting learning all the details from his young perspective. He went through so much, and coped in so many wrong ways, some of it shocking. I really liked his best friend growing up, how they met, and how their unique bond was formed. There were just so many things I adored, the different elements and relationships, and it all pulled me in.

    The present day Lucas – whose story overlaps with Easy - felt so fresh to me even though I knew the story. I really learned and understood why he thought what he did and made the choices he did. It was all so heartfelt and there were so many emotional moments. Even though it was the same story line, it didn't seem like the same story to me, it held its own and I loved it. Of course there is Jacqueline's relationship with Lucas and it was just wonderful to read from his perspective. Not only how he felt about her and how he was drawn to her, but how her situation effected him. To see some of that thinking and to also know what he was feeling and the depth of his love had me completely invested. 

    The back and forth with the POV's made it a page turner for me because I kept wanting to know what was going to happen. The buildup of the past and everything coming together was great. I also loved the fact that we got to see Lucas's relationships in more detail and it gave me more of an appreciation for the Hellar's and even Lucas’s father. This book had a bit more heat, from teenage angst and lust to grown up need and love. I thought all the scenes were tastefully written and made sense.

    This was an intense and emotional story, extremely well written with fully developed characters and secondary characters. It had an excellent build between the different POV’s. Just brilliant. Loved it!

    Lucas!

    To read Lucas's POV gives more clarity to a story I already love sooo much! Easy is the first book and I have reread it many times and I thought I knew Lucas, but this book gives him more dimension and depth. Love it!

    Great Read

    This was the same story from his perspective but it was a really good story. If you enjoyed the first one you will enjoy this one. It's really not boring reading the same story from his view.

    I fell hard for Lucas when I read Easy. That book was my firs




    I fell hard for Lucas when I read Easy. That book was my first Indie and my first NA. Lucas was my first contemporary book boy crush. Mr. Darcy and Jamie Fraser from Outlander were my first - before I knew the term book boyfriend, but I digress.
    I was pretty excited to know more about Landon and the experiences that made him the man he is today. My heart broke for him. I think Ms. Webber did a great job of telling the story of Landon and Lucas and I grew to love this man even more. Easy is one of my top 10 all time favorites and this beautiful companion will go right beside it. Breakable was all I hoped it would be and more.
    A note to the author- I really would like to know about Boyce and Pearl and what kind of relationship they have. I have a feeling there could be to Boyce than we see on the surface.

    I'm not sure how I feel at the moment. I like it, I just feel like there are too much "flash back" parts that are unnecessary. Though, I guess in a way we know why she explains and tells us these parts. For us to be able to truly love Lucas, we must know all his deep dark secrets. Understandable. Don’t get me wrong, I love knowing what Lucas is thinking, and learning about his past. But the past bits just feel like boring fillers.. 




    I really want to love this book just as much as I love 'Easy' but I can’t.. Don’t get me wrong it was a thrill to get into his head.. Feel and see everything through his eyes, but his “Landon” parts were just tolerable. Not enjoyable but tolerable. I understand it’s important to see him go from his lowest to his highest.. But it just wasn’t for me. As much as I loved the storyline when I read it for the first time, I didn’t enjoy this one as much. Breakable is a little boring and dragged on.. My love for Lucas doesn’t falter. He’s still my favorite book boyfriend. I just didn’t feel that same giddiness I did two years ago. The magic and euphoria I felt while reading 'Easy' didn't happen during 'Breakable'. The quote “Less is more” pertains to this the less I knew about his past the better it was for me.. 




     I have mixed feelings. I HIGHLY enjoyed his thoughts, the way he processed and did things. Just not his past stories.. Some of them I did, but most I didn't. The over lapping parts with ‘Easy’ have to be my favorite!! I just thought the mystery of not know much about his past and just what was necessary is better. Even though I didn’t cry during ‘Easy’ I did three times during this. Other than those things, EVERYTHING else was perfect. The love between Lucas and Jacqueline couldn’t be more perfect. I couldn’t be happier/satisfied with the way the story ends. I loved and dislike certain parts! Over all, I KIND OF really like the book!! Both characters will be profoundly missed<3

    Amazing!

    I just finished the latest installment from Brandons POV and I loved it! It is really great to get to hear just how much heloves Spencer and how fast he fell for her! I can't wait for the next book!

    Easy is the first book and Breakable is the 2

    Breakable is the second but tells Landon/lucas side of the most incredable book i ever read each page is something unexpected, funny, or plain out OMG
    I realy want every peraon to read this book if you are intrested like NOW

    You've got to read this!

    Loved the book! It is another one of my favorite authors!! She makes it so easy to sit and read and not worry about what's going on around you. Love,love it!

    A bit of a letdown

    Like so many of the other readers, I loved Easy but was let down by Breakable. Overall, it's a good book but I think if the author had gone in chronological order instead of flip flopping between high school and present day then it would have made a bigger impact. The story line was easy to follow but I believe something was lost in how she presented it. It is a mature adult book (which is clearly stated at the bottom of the summary) and I wouldn't recommend it for most teen readers.

    Easy told the story of Jacqueline and how she handled a situation that would have led to her being raped. Breakable is Lucas story about his life after his mother was raped and murdered one room over from him when he was a little boy and his road to recovery. Yes, this is essentially the same story as easy, however, at least half of the book is of Lucas’ life growing up that led him to live with the Keller’s in the first place.

    I’m not usually a fan of companion novels since they generally seem to be the same story regurgitated back to you, only in a new POV. I’m glad to say that this isn’t all Breakable had to offer. The sections where we go back into Lucas’ past was very fascinating. I like how the author separated the chapters/sections by titling them “Landon” or “Lucas” depending on which time frame we were looking at. Especially since that is how Lucas looks at himself, the boy before he moved away to begin to heal (Landon) and the guy he is now (Lucas).

    I don’t think you could read this story without reading Easy. The author doesn’t really go into all the details between the interactions of Jacqueline and Lucas. It was easy to fall back into their story since I’ve read Easy, but I think if I hadn’t, I’d have felt a little disconnected with the relationship between the two. Which, actually worked out for me since I think I’d have been bored if the author rehashed out every little detail that these two had together.

    However, even though this was so much more than I thought it was going to be, I really only gravitated to Lucas’ story when he wasn’t interacting with Jacqueline. Maybe it was because it was a fresh new story? Maybe I wanted to get the full story on the Lucas I’d met from Easy? Who knows, but I found myself looking forward to when I’d see the headliner “Landon”. It was great to finally get Lucas’ story of his life leading up to the responsible demeanor he has. Boy, did he come a long way. However, I wish that this was more of a Landon only story leading up to Easy instead of half of it being things I already read before. Either way, I still enjoyed it.

    Loved Lucas's POV

    I have read a few books from the guys perspective and some have been good, others i couldn't finish. This one i finished. I loved how she mixed in his back story and childhood throughout the book. Great book, can't wait for more from this author.

    Slow start

    I couldn't get into this book. The first few chapters were dull. I kept waiting for it tk get good like the other comments mentioned but I gaveup and moved on

    I wish I could give 10 stars!!

    After Easy I didn't think I'd ever read another touching, loving story, but Tammara Webber certainly has a gift. The emotions that poured off the pages was breathtaking. I laughed and I cried. The story was everything I wanted it to be and more. I fell in love with Landon Lucas in Easy and now that I know his entire story, I love him more!

    Breakable is a companion novel to Tammara Webber's Easy, focusing on tortured love interest Lucas' destructive teenage years. If you've read Easy, you can't forget the trauma Lucas lives through when he was only thirteen years old, and Breakable tells the story of how he dealt with, and eventually overcame, that tragedy.

    Breakable is not only about Lucas and how he fell in love with Jackie, but through alternating points of view, it shows Landon's transformation into Lucas. It shows how a boy experiences something horrible and violent and tragic and deals with it. Lucas' story is harsh and gritty and real, and I loved how, even at his very worst, Webber still managed to make Lucas a lovable character you couldn't help but root for. 

    The side characters in Lucas' life added such depth and humor to the story. Boyce was my absolute favorite, but I also really liked getting to see Lucas' dad and how he dealt with his grief after. No one—except for the Hellers—in Lucas' life was exempt from me wanting to grab them by the shoulders and shake them until they saw straight. Boyce and his bullying and drugs, his dad with his tight lipped avoidance of any relevant conversation. Melody and her lack of a backbone. But, even though they all could have handled things better, it was impossible not to like them and feel for them. They were all so much more than just 2 dimensional side characters. They felt like real people who shaped Lucas into the man he was at the end of the book.

    I enjoyed Breakable, but have to admit it left me more than a little bored at times. Partly because I already knew what happened from reading Easy, partly because Lucas's thoughts in regards to Jackie did become repetitive after awhile, and partly because of the aimless quality to Landon's story. Don't get me wrong, his story is intense and emotional, but it also has a very ambling feel to it, especially in the middle (the end perks up, a lot). It's just telling about his childhood, with no real goal other than to get him into college so he can meet Jacqueline. I get that this sounds completely hypocritical because I did enjoy Landon's story, I just wasn't as glued to my seat as I'd hoped I would be for parts of it. But, like I said, it picks up near the end, and the beginning will suck you in right away.

    The only complaint I have about Breakable is that we learn next to nothing about Jacqueline. I mean, we do, but not enough. If I hadn't already read Easy, I'm pretty sure I would have thought Jacqueline was a fragile girl who needed protecting, and that was it. I get that Webber didn't want to rehash every conversation and email from Easy because this is a companion novel, but it made Lucas' love for Jackie seem a little creepy obsessive because we didn't get to see them getting to know one another. But, having read Easy and knowing all of the skimmed over getting to know one another, it was really interesting to see inside Lucas's head. 

    Breakable is a hard story to read, because it deals with underage drinking, drugs and sex, which stems from tragedy, death and grief. Lucas had a hard life and he had to make a lot of mistakes before he finally got it together. If you loved Lucas in Easy and need to know every detail of his life, then you need Breakable on your shelf today. You get to see every emotion the boy ever felt, first hand. It's difficult, but it is a story worth reading. The way Jacqueline's story was about her becoming strong enough to fight back against her attacker, Lucas' story is about him becoming stronger than his past and his guilt and discovering that he can move on, even if he thinks it's impossible. A beautiful disaster of a boy, Lucas will steal your heart in this stunning, must-read companion to Easy.
