An ex-Navy Seal fighting an addiction thinks he's seeking peace and quiet in Truly, Idaho, but discovers that what he's really looking for is the haven living right next door in the form of a beautiful single mom and her mischievous daughter.Blake Junger is one of the best guns for hire in a dangerous world. But when his casual drinking tips into alcoholism—fueled by an undiagnosed case of PTSD—he knows he has to conquer the addiction or threaten the lives of his colleagues. He's a certified hero, with a wall full of decorations to prove it, so he's determined to master this latest challenge through sheer will. He's come to Truly for fresh air and privacy while he attacks his demons, but his plans go awry when a puppy is foisted on him and he and the little girl next door decide to share custody, much to the annoyance of her mother. Natalie Cooper has avoided men since her ex-husband was sent to prison after stealing money from practically everyone they knew. Raising her daughter on her own has been a struggle, so allowing her sexy new neighbor into their lives risks their hard-won equanimity. She suspects that under that gruff—not to mention Hollywood handsome—exterior lies a wounded warrior's heart, and every step she takes away from him, he moves closer in, tempting her more. Gibson follows up last year's Run to You with a return to her popular Truly, Idaho, setting and a tiny peek at past characters fans will enjoy. An entertaining read, full of witty repartee, sexual tension and a romantic tango between two attracted but conflicted main characters.

Meet the Author

Rachel Gibson

Rachel Gibson lives in Idaho with her husband, three kids, two cats, and a dog of mysterious origin. She began her fiction career at age sixteen, when she ran her car into the side of a hill, retrieved the bumper, and drove to a parking lot, where she strategically scattered the car's broken glass all about. She told her parents she'd been the victim of a hit-and-run and they believed her. She's been making up stories ever since, although she gets paid better for them nowadays.

    Could've been better...

I am an avid Rachel Gibson fan and expected more than what was delivered. The book felt like it skimmed over topics and then came to an abrupt halt. An epilogue is needed for these characters.

What I Love About You is a deliciously entertaining romance.

What I Love About You is a deliciously entertaining romance.

Natalie Cooper's ex-husband and high school sweet heart broke her heart. He embezzled and cheated friends, family and neighbors out of their money and ran away with a younger woman...leaving Natalie to face the police interrogations. Natalie is starting her live over with her adorable young daughter running the town photo shop.

Blake Junger is a gun for hire, ex-seal that just moved in next door to Natalie. He is moody and trying to recover from his alcohol addiction all on his own. When Natalie and her daughter crash into his life things will never be the same.

The story contains a slow building, difficult relations, an adorable little girl, a puppy bombing lol, and a steamy seduction. All around great, hometown (Truly, Idaho) flare romantic read.

    Loved It...

I very much enjoy Rachel Gibson and I think I have read every book she has written... While this book was somewhat predictable it was well written with great characters from the puppy to the 5 yr old and especially to the ex Navy Seal who was to absolutely swoon over... The story had both a serious and a humorous bent so that made it more interesting... And sexy?? Well, it is a Rachel Gibson Book so what would you expect??

Really liked it, but like many of her books, the end was rushed.

I really enjoy her books, but wish they had epilogues. I feel like i need a little more, when story ends :)

Blake wasn't interested in marriage or kids. He was an ex-SEAL, a recovering alcoholic, and a professional security consultant. The only people he wanted to be around was his twin brother and whomever he worked a job with. It took a little five year old girl who wandered into his yard for him to see what and who he was missing in his life.

Natalie 's priority is her daughter, whose father is getting out of prison soon and coming home for good to Truly. While Natalie's no longer in love with her ex-husband, the thought of what his coming home means weighed heavily on her mind. And the man next door, the rough and tumble, foul-mouthed, built-like-a-mountain, mouthwatering man, weighed heavily on her heart.

Their relationship unfolded under waves of attraction and pent up sexual frustration. Heavy caresses and bone-melting kisses peppered their encounters, and gave way to rounds of satiating sex. But it also opened them up to things they thought they wouldn't feel for each other. While Natalie has walked the road to marriage before, Blake hasn't. The idea that Natalie was more than a sex-buddy rattled his core, and he did what he did best: he left.

I can understand his silent reasons for leaving. What I didn't understand was why he chose to lie instead of tell Natalie the truth. The rift his parting words caused made me wonder if maybe he wasn't the best man for her. His indifference and callousness in that moment chipped at my admiration for him. I wanted him to do it differently, to speak plainly instead of hiding behind a job or fears. However, I will concede that their separation worked immensely in their favor. Blake came back better than before, doing what he needed to do because he had a woman and her daughter waiting on him to get his act together.

The one thing that bothered me was how quickly Natalie forgave Blake his behavior in the end. I know, I know. It's a small thing to hold onto, but it really bothered me. I think because of what he said, how he said it, and how he left after he said it. He treated her like they hadn't shared intimate moments outside of bed, like they hadn't opened up to each other about their respective pasts, like everything that transpired between them had happened for kicks.

Despite my misgivings on that topic, I did like reading Blake and Natalie's story. Well-written with a great cast of characters, Ms. Gibson did a terrific job of giving a single mom and an ex-SEAL a well-deserved happy ending.

Gibson captures your attention right from the very start of this

Gibson captures your attention right from the very start of this highly entertaining, romantic and sensual story of a women overcoming heartbreak and loss and a man who is determined to never fall in love. When ex-navy seal Blake Junger meets his sexy next story neighbor Natalie Cooper and her adorable little daughter Charlotte, it will leave you laughing for days. Gibson doesn't shy away from making you dislike Blake but you will fall in love with his ruggedness, charming and straight forwardness.

I always love a story that gives jumps back between the male and female lead ... I loved reading about what was going on the other characters life while the other character was busy living their own lives ... it lets you into the head of the other character and both Blake and Natalie have a lot to say! Gibson does her character's justice with wittiness and her ability to capture the scene with her way of words and will leave you swooning and hot all at the same time.

The love scenes in this book are hot! Well, Blake is hot .... and Natalie is hot .... so of course their love-making or monkey love would be hot ...

Don't deny yourself the opportunity to read this great read by Rachel Gibson as she has captured me as a fan and I can't wait to read other books by her! This book is also the third in a series, but can be read as a stand alone. A definite must read!

    3 out of 5 Licks

While What I Love About You is the third in the series you can read as a standalone.  I haven't read the other books in the series and I didn't feel like I missed anything.  This was my first Rachel Gibson book and overall I enjoyed it.  Blake is a jerk, but he is honest about.  He shows his jerkiness immediately and never really tried to hide it with Natalie.  Natalie had a rough go of it with her ex husband and his family for that matter and she chooses to stay pretty quiet in order to avoid any further drama for her or her daughter.  She comes across as a bit of a push over at times, but eventually finds the strength to give some push back.  There were a few lulls in the story where it was easy for me to get distracted, but I was pulled back each time.  I've watched some family members battle alcoholism so at times this was hard for me to read.  in the end I'm happy with the way the author handled it.  It wasn't blown over or treated with some easy fix.

    4.5 stars!

I have been reading Rachel Gibson for years and I have always finished her books with a smile and a full heart and What I Love About You was no exception.  This book was so addicting, so good,  it is like a "whirlwind" from the first page to the last.  I loved every part!  While What I Love About You is book three in the Truly, Idaho series this was (surprisingly) the first book I have read from this series and I think it was perfect as a stand alone!  I will, however, be going back to see what I missed in books one and two for sure!

Rachel Gibson has been one of my automatic buy Authors for years (my Kindle has most of her back list in it) and with every book I think she gets better and better.  What I Love About You is (right now) my favorite of her books, I fell in love with Blake and Natalie.  Rachel Gibson has the unique talent of creating a sense of home in the settings of her books, like Truly, Idaho and its residents feel real without taking over the main story.  The secondary characters blend in smoothly and really enrich this story.  Of course I fell in love with Charlotte as soon as she said she was a "hoss" and then puppy bombing sealed Rachel Gibson as an all-time favorite writer.  Her stories are full of emotion, heat, wit and heart.

What I Love About you was funny, sexy, touching, emotional and beautiful.  I liked watching Blake struggle with his addictions, he is an upfront guy and hates forms of weakness.  Natalie proved to be way more than a former cheerleader, she is an independent single mother who will blow you away and make you want to be her friend.  I loved this story!  The humor, the banter and the heat all balanced beautifully with Blake and Natalie's fall and it was so fun to read.  What I Love About You was more than I was expecting and really moved me on many levels, these characters were genuine and real and I am really sad that this story is over (I am hoping for more in this series so I get a sneak peak back).

If you have been craving a good romance book with some sizzling heat, puppy bombings and a unicorn hat, you need to read What I Love About You.  Fans of Rachel Gibson (and new readers too) will be dying to order off Blake's menu and experience the whirlwind that is Natalie.  I highly recommend you add What I Love About You to your reading soon.... go 1-click this fantastic book!
