Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
05/19/2014
Ashley’s gritty third Colorado Mountain contemporary western (after Sweet Dreams) is lengthy but surprisingly fast-paced. Ex-con Ty Walker has vowed vengeance on the people who framed him. Gorgeous clotheshorse Lexie Berry is forced to do a favor for Shift, her deceased boyfriend’s scummy best friend, and picks up Ty after he is released from prison. What Shift didn’t tell Lexie is that he promised to set Ty up with a temporary wife so that he can return to Colorado and embark on his plan for revenge. After Ty explains and offers Lexie $50,000, she agrees to marry him, planning to use the money to start over once Ty’s “business” is concluded and they divorce. They head to Ty’s home in Carnal, Colo., where he resumes his former life and tries to keep his distance from her. Sizzling sex and a healthy dose of mystery will keep readers enthralled, though the heaps of profanity may not sit well with fans of sweeter romances. (July)

Meet the Author

Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana, and has lived in Denver, Colorado, and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multigenerational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland, and Kristen grew up listening to the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon, and Whitesnake.

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

    Love love love Ty!!

Loved this book! I love Ty!! Lexie is sweet and sassy a really good combo! To address an earlier review you are taking the calling of brother out of context! If you read the book you would know they were calling each other brother because thats what they are brothers not " brothers". Im a black american and i call my friend who is sooo not black sister because shes closer to me than my sister. But i digress, tjis is my fav so far of the series! Waiting with bated breathe to see if Chace is going to be all im imagining him to be! You wont go wrong reading anything Ms. Ashley writes!

    Disappointing

The book started off great but became dull. Also was offensive to me as a black american. Black people detest anyone calling them brother and dont say it unless it is one black person to another. The book had Ty talking about being half black to someone who was almost a complete stranger.Really became less of a love story and more annoying than anything. Thoroughly disappointed in this one.

    One Lucky lady...

During the first 2/3 of Lady Luck I loved it. It was the last 1/3 that had me skimming. Each Colorado Mountain book had a little mystery or drama that takes place and for Ty his is big drama. The corrupt police department in Carnal Colorado needs to be stopped and they have been bad for some time. This part of the book, I wanted to skim. Mainly because Lexi and Ty are so hot together and I wanted to read more about her sunshine. Kristen Ashley made me long for more sunshine and light to grace their lives.

There are a few things that bothered me about Ty. Not only is is domineering, bossy, crank, but he kept telling Lexi to 'shut it'. I get why he was doing this but I just thought that was taken too far and really pissed me off.

Fans of the previous books don't dispare we are graced with Tate, Laurie and a cameo of Max and Nina. I also hear Kristen Ashley is going to write a book about Faye and Chase - Yay!

Another winner from Kristen Ashley. Made me laugh, mad me cry, made me shout out loud. Made me smile, and most definitely made my day brighter.

    I enjoyed this one...

I just started reading this author, and this is the 3rd one in a row I read of hers. She has an unusual writing style - kind of long run-on sentences, but I really like her writing style. I can see how someone might be a little put-off by Ty's language in this story, but it didn't bother me. It was just part of his character. I got just as absorbed in reading this one as the before it in this series. I liked it! Alot.

As I first started reading Lady Luck I couldn¿t decide if I was

As I first started reading Lady Luck I couldn’t decide if I was liking it. The storyline had my interest, I was curious to see where this couple was going to go, but something was just holding me back for some reason. We even get both points of view in this story. Have I mentioned how much I love reading the male point of view? I have? Well, I’m going to say it again, because I LOVE reading the male side of the story.

After I was able to get into the story for a few chapters I was much more into the flow of things. We get to revisit with the gang from Bubba’s and I was happy to see some of my favorite characters from the second book, Sweet Dreams. Especially Tate.. oh Tate.

I pretty much loved our heroine, Lexie from the first chapter. She was so sassy and sure of herself, I love that in a heroine. In fact Lexie might be one of my favorite Kristen Ashley heroines to date, which is a really big accomplishment because I love some of my KA heroines.

Our hero, Ty on the other hand didn’t have the Megan love fest going on right from the start. My note at 32% even mentions that he has a lot to improve on. I was not impressed with him calling her a b-word. I get Ty’s a man who has been wronged, but man, he also had the wrong attitude toward things. But, of course in the end I came around on Ty. He probably won’t be a book boyfriend, but I enjoyed him while I was reading him. He doesn’t talk much, but when he does it normally delivers well.

I think my biggest ‘problem’ with Ty was that he’s not one of those smooth talking KA alphas like I love so much. Now, don’t get me wrong, he’s still an alpha, but Ty is more of the silent type. I like that mushy sweet talk coming out of some big dude. It warms my evil cold little heart so when our hero doesn’t have a lot to say I find it harder to fall for him.

Once I got into Lady Luck I found I could not put it down. I wasn’t as wrapped up in it as I have been with some KA books in the past, but the characters and story definitely grew on me. I was a little lost on when exactly they decide to make this thing between them a forever thing. It wasn’t insta-love (not by any means), but it does kind of happen quickly and mysteriously. Although; I’m glad it does happen because they are such a cute couple.

And of course once things pick up, they really pick up. Lady Luck has all that good action I always go into a Kristen Ashley book expecting and I was not disappointed. If you haven’t already started the Colorado Mountain Series then start with book one, The Gamble and get to reading. This is a series you have to add to your kindle. I’m liking it more than I liked the Rock Chick series.

    Enjoyed this book

Love that these characters are in other books. Just like you have a group of close friends. These friends you consider as your family. Hopefully you dont have the same bad things in your life. But if you did I'm sure you would want them to be a part of it. Have read several times.

    Sweet story

I really liked this installment in the series. I had read some early reviews that weren't glowing so I had initially avoided it, but this one was a gem from the first page. I liked the characters right off and their story was engaging.

    good read!!

I love that there are full sentences in the alpha male's dialogue and he doesn't answer the female's questions with just the word "babe". There were also a lot of names to remember within the story so I had to keep stopping to let my brain process who was who, but the storyline was good and I'm all for "Team Walker"!!! Great job Kristen Ashley!
