I fell in love with Kristen's works after getting the wonderful Knight (The Unfinished Hero Series) on a kindle free special. I loved the way her work is dialogue based, and the characters feel so real I can laugh or cry with the. Some of the later books I found were not so great though with eternal pages of “feelin me?” (simper) “ yes xzy, feelin you” The heroines seemed to have gone from strong women with problems into simpering twee girlies...and I didn't like it. What a treat then to find Lanie, heroine of Fire Inside, who's strong and has self respect. She starts the balling rolling by asking Hop if he “wants a F***” - hurrah, a lady who knows what she wants again. I love Lanie – yes on occasion I wanted to shake her and ask what the hell she thought she was doing, but when a book makes you feel like that at least you know the story has you gripped! She's been through so much, was lonely and yet afraid to love again. Then there's the other half, Hop, typical biker Alpha who quickly fell in love with Lanie though neither of them were anywhere near ready to admit to feeling like That! Kristen's books revolve around this type of Alpha hero but fortunately they're always right. Good job as they never argue, just assume that their way is the right way and steamroller though any objections. I still get a bit fed up of the abbreviated language, I know it adds character but as a reader frankly I’d like to see a bit of variation.
Where the wonderful Knight, Law Man and Mystery Man novels stood out for me was in the drama, the part where the hero needs to sweep in to save the day and the heroine's life is in danger and Fire Inside lacks that for me. We have the usual family interventions, and relationship misunderstandings but I never quite got so engrossed with those and had the caught breath, shaky heart feelings the other books had engendered. The breakup was really quite brief, when Hawk left Gwen in Mystery man I was moved to tears and had that “oh no!” moment but with Fire I just didn't feel that :( and I Need the Angst in a romance to make the loving so much sweeter. When Lanie and Hop separated it just didn't move me, yes I felt sad for her but somehow the whole section didn't work for me. Maybe the bar's been set so high now its not easy to achieve?
Still, as a classic KA novel its a cracker and that goodness Lanie has her flaws but is no TSTL heroine, I really can't deal with them. It was good to catch up with some of the others in the Chaos MC too, they're a great bunch of characters and these stand alone books set around the same groups of people make such a change from the eternal cliffhanger trilogies we're currently seeing. When I read a book I want to have closure at the end not wait months for the next part, then months more to see the ending :(
Well edited and written as you'd expect of course and a great way to escape for a few hours. For KA readers once again a great book to lose yourself in.
Stars: four – not quite the drama I need for a five.

Loved it as always, KA rocks !

I also was not a Hop fan and was not sure what to expect with this book. But of course KA made me love that man! If you have not read a book by her you are completly insane. I wonder who is next ? My hope is Rush-but I hope she does not hook him up with Natalie. But even if she does I know she will make me love it all and ask for seconds! Keep those bikers coming KA ,long live Chaos!!!!!!!!!!!

KA Fan for sure

So firstly yes I would have liked some more Chaos MC drama, a little more excitement and a lot more Tack. BUT NO DOUBT I loved Hop and Lanie's story and relationship. It was HOT, smokin hot. It was sweet, so so sweet and generally kept me turning pages. As usual I totally connected with her heroine and adored her bad ass leading man. Always ready for the new KA book!!!

Let me begin by saying, I'm so excited to finally have a chance

Let me begin by saying, I'm so excited to finally have a chance to type a review of one of Kristen Ashley's books! I never have the time to do this! With that said, Ashley is a very talented author, and she does a bang up job with some really fabulous intertwining plots. I have to confess, I'm a 50 Shades fan, and one of the few who read the Trilogy before the hype began. Since I am also a fast reader, I finished that series in 3 days. I followed that up with the Crossfire series, and enjoyed that even more. Since then, however, I have been unsuccessfully trying to find books that will hold a candle to those amazing authors. I have tried several different authors, and wound up putting books down before the halfway mark. There is always something that doesn't appeal to me, from plot believability to the author's simple use of grammar. I have a hard time with so many of these authors because they write poorly (I'm spoiled as a Lit major I think). The writing style in many of these books is like a teenager wrote it. Kristen Ashley is a very talented author, and she writes very well. My only complaint, is that while I LOVE her lead male characters, they are often, ALWAYS exactly the same! I have read ALL of the books Kristen Ashley has available through Nook, so now I'm at like over 30 of them. The only series I haven't read yet is Rock Chick, and I wanted to save that for last. I do wish that Kristen would write about a different TYPE of man. They are all attractive, stubborn, baggage carrying, prideful, and "tell you how it's gonna be" types of men. In four or five books, this is fine. However, with all the books she's written so far, it does become somewhat tedious. They even use the exact same language, for example, when the lead female character says something they want to disagree with, they will look at her and simply say, "Babe." Also, on that note, Ashley does also overdo it ALOT with the endearments. Honey, baby, sweetie, and others are thrown out almost awkwardly at times, almost losing their effectiveness. She does a fabulous job on her female characters, making them deep and complex. Why she does not employ this to her male characters I'm not sure. Maybe this is the type of man she goes for in her life, but if you guys are like me, we are reading these books for variety. So, to sum it up, Kristin is a talented author. If you're looking for E.L. James, and that quality, you might have to find something else. But....if you're just looking for a good read to keep you busy until the next fabulous romance series comes out, look no further. She fits the bill nicely. I do wish she would expand a bit, because as I said earlier, she is a very talented author. Also, if you're looking for great books within the romance genre, let me recommend SOME of the books you can find in the young adult section. Mortal Instruments is paranormal romance, but the series is phenomenal. The film is coming out next month, and I am way too excited about it. She also has a series called A Clockwork Princess, and it is AMAZING. Warm Bodies is also a phenomenal read! Hope this helps!

The Review:
Lanie Heron has a tragic past that's more than seven years behind her. During that time, she's built up walls so the bad things resulting from love will never happen again. And though she has no use for love or getting permanently involved with a man, she's had her eye on Hopper Kincaid for years.

One night.
One night and she hopes to get him out of her system. So she approaches him at a Chaos pig roast.

Hopper Kincaid has had his eye on Lanie since he met her. The Chaos brotherhood came into her life and to her rescue during the time she got kidnapped by the Russian mob, got her best friend hurt and watched her fiancé die. He knows she's haunted and he knows she's messed up but that hasn't stopped him from watching her all these years. When she approaches him, offering herself for one night, he knows that exclusive, intoxicating perfume, that rich beautiful hair, those gorgeous grey eyes and that sass and class mixed with her drama all equals complication. But how can he pass her up when she looks at him like she does.

Their one night tryst turns into a passion filled romance where Hop helps Lanie fight back her demons in classic Kristen Ashley fashion, with a total alpha male hero and a headstrong but vulnerable heroine. Watching Hop and Lanie come together was amazing. I loved them as a couple. I liked Lanie in Motorcycle Man from the Dream Man series but Hop was not my favorite character. I went in with preconceived feelings knowing Hop needed some serious redeeming if I was going to like him and not surprising, KA is a miracle worker at redeeming her characters and this one is no exception.

Hop was charming, sensitive, reliable, loyal and trustworthy in all his alpha ways. He also learned the lesson of compromise and took it to heart. I adored his kids, his life and his reasoning. He was smart, fearless and his persistence and patience with Lanie was remarkable. He was just an amazing character.

Lanie was a wonder. All the things she'd been through left her broken but not so much that she couldn't find herself. She has a way about her that draws you in because you know if she could get through the horrific things she's endured and come out broken but not shattered, then there's hope for her and her future. With Hop's help, she finds her way out of the darkness to a life of both giving and receiving happiness.

I also loved the ending. It gave us a beautiful picture of Hop and Lanie's life together as well as more on the front of the brewing war. I can't wait to see how this plays out.

Seriously, I Have A Complaint WIth a KA book? Yup... HUGE one...
Don't hate me! I love Kristen Ashley. Ask anyone. I rave about this author's ability to write a fantastic, dramatic story with an amazing lead female and a steamy alpha male. Her books are fun, entertaining, emotional and keep me reading well past my bedtime. When I'm feeling down, her books are my "go to" books to get me out of a reading funk or to clear my palate of angsty, soul sucking reads.

That being said, the reason for the lower rating for Fire Inside is because the story dynamic I've come to expect from her just wasn't there for me. Some of the signature KA's themes were there. The hot alpha male with a sensitive side, the slightly neurotic female lead who grows and changes as the story unfolds, the emotion as the leads come to terms with the things that haunt them and the visit from past characters of other books.

What was missing was the story drama, the suspense and the action with the big ending.

The first book in the series, Own the Wind was similar. There were elements missing that I love in her books. We know there's a huge build up in this series as things heat up with the Chaos protecting their territory from Benito. Book one alluded to it with harm actually coming to Shy in a shootout. It was expanded on further in this book as Hop patrolled their five mile area from drug dealers and hookers. So we know something huge is coming but what makes KA's books unique is the big ending in EACH book. The heroine gets kidnapped or the hero has to endure some kind of setup. Something. But this book had nothing, no big bang! There was plenty of amazing sensual scenes and loads of swoon worthy biker talk, the revisit of past characters (plenty of Tack and Ty-Ty who I love!) and there was both leads coming to terms with their pasts and moving on with their future but the action and drama were missing.

The Wrap Up:
Do I still love KA? Oh most definitely YES! I will sing her praises for all time, I'm sure. I love her books and have read a lot of them more than four or five times each. Am I excited for the third book in the series? Absolutely! I just may not be as fanatical about suggesting this book as I am about the others.

KA does it again

KA manages to make me fall in love time and time again...and everytime I promise myself it's the last time.....then she writes another book.....Hop is the bomb....therefore I'm in love yet again..KA, your men are truly addictive.

By now I imagine that you are sick of hearing me say this about any Kristen Ashley book I get my hands on but…I LOVED IT! ~ Under the Covers

The last thing Lanie Heron wants is another man, after her last relationship resulted in her being shot, her best friend being stabbed and him being dead, getting in to it with someone else is the last thing she thinks she needs. But, she has been watching Hopper Kincaid for years and although she may not want a lifetime with him, she wants a night, but a night soon leads to more, but is Lanie ready to let Hop in?

By now I imagine that you are sick of hearing me say this about any Kristen Ashley book I get my hands on but…I LOVED IT! A lot. But, I am going to let you in on a little secret (don’t tell anyone!) I wasn’t that excited about reading Lanie and Hop’s HEA, for some reason they didn’t capture my imagination, oh ye of little faith! I should have known she would have turned it round so that I came out the other side impatient for more and wishing it was that little (a lot) bit longer.

Hop was the typically alpha, sexy and disgustingly sweet hero that Kristen Ashley excels at making me salivate over, I mean really it should be illegal to write men that amazing and then expect woman to be satisfied with the pickings out there. However, if you are alpha. sexy yet incredibly sweet biker guy reading this feel free to call me to tell me different, I honestly don’t mind being wrong, I have plenty of body issues you can shag away for me *makes call me sign* okay, the personal ad part of the review is now over.

If you love Kristen Ashley’s other books you will love this one, it has her unique style of writing and is packed full of emotion as well giving us a peek of all the other characters that we have come to know and love throughout her other books. One thing that I think was slightly different about this book compared to others I have read though is the erotic factor. I thought this book was pretty damn sexy, it doesn’t go in loads of detail, but it is sexually charged and Hop has a beautifully dirty way with words that will definitely cause a few damp knickers (was that too graphic? Oops).

Another triumph for Ms Ashley, her books are always so good full of passion and a clear love for all her characters and her stories and I can’t help but love them along with her.

Overall I really did enjoy this book. I loved the chemistry between Hop and Lainey. There was plenty of drama between the two but my issue with the book is that there was barely any interaction with the other characters we have come to love. I would have at least expected more with Tyra and Tac and girls night. I was happy to have Elvira in the book. Her character absolutely cracks me up. I hope that future Chaos novels will go back to including the other characters. The books have more depth with more characters involved. Still worth reading and I gave it 4 stars for the lack of characters.

The 2nd book in the Chaos series, Fire Inside focuses on the burgeoning relationship between Elaine “Lanie” Heron and Hopper “Hop” Kincaid.

Lanie Heron isn’t looking for love—no surprise, considering her last serious relationship nearly got her killed. So when Lanie propositions Hopper Kincaid, all she wants is one wild night of sex with the hot-as-hell biker who patrols with the Chaos Motorcycle Club. No strings. No complications. No expectations.

For Hop, Lanie has always been untouchable. One seriously class act. Even when she comes to the Compound to shoot pool or to a hog roast, communing with the brethren of the Chaos Motorcycle Club, she doesn’t dress down. Designer gear, head-to-toe. Five-nine without heels, long, glossy, gorgeous dark hair and amazing green eyes, she looks like a model except better because she’s real. She’s also one seriously messed-up woman. Not simply because she’s pure drama. No, Lanie Heron is messed up because she stood by her man. And under normal circumstances, Hop would find that an admirable trait mostly because he knew by experience it was a rare one. It wasn’t admirable with Lanie. She’d made a tremendously bad decision and stood by her man, who was involved with the Russian Mob, then watched him die and nearly got herself killed in the process.

But when Lanie gives Hop the once-over with her bedroom eyes, and offers him a night in paradise, he can’t say no. And he doesn’t regret it when he realizes that she’s the best thing that’s ever happened to him—in or out of bed. Now he just has to convince her of that.

Much like Own the Wind, and its predecessor the Dream Man series, Fire Inside is filled with entertaining secondary characters—Elvira, still without a doubt my favorite reoccurring character, always brings such wonderful humor to each story. And Benito, the drug-dealing porn producer we were introduced to in Own the Wind gets an honorable mention in this story as well, but his demise is something that we’ll have to look forward to in another Chaos novel.

Lanie Heron is holding a monster inside that feeds on her guilt and it’s growing out of control, eating her alive. For seven years, she’s been guarding against letting any man into her life, all because she had a man who did dangerous stuff and didn’t tell her. Her loyalty had bought her nothing but pain, bullet wounds, and heartache.

Hop Kincaid wants Lanie to take a chance on him. Let him in. Trust him. Time and again, he’s watched her monster tear into her and what he wants is to protect her. He loves that she’s funny, beautiful, crazy, and that she’s just her and to hell what other people think. She can fit in anywhere. Total class. And Hop is not about to give up or back down, because Lanie’s worth fighting for.

This story is all about the romance. When Lanie finally quits fighting Hop and admits her feelings for him, what they have is truly beautiful. But the story lacked the usual intense drama, action and suspense that I’ve come to really enjoy in Kristen Ashley’s books, and truthfully somewhat missed. Nonetheless, a sweet, sexy and passionate read, Fire Inside is a poignant love story with a well-paced storyline and satisfying HEA, including a wonderful, heartwarming epilogue.

CRAPTASTIC!!!

What have these other reviewers been smoking? This is a crappily written book with characters very obviously cut and pasted from Sons of Anarchy. Gee, how imaginative! This book was SO crappy that i just gave up about a quarter of the way in.

Another amazing Chaos novel!

I loved Lanie and Hop's story! I loved all the Chaos stories, but this was definitely up there as one of my favorites. I love that there is so much more to Hop than you get to see in the other stories, even though I knew he would be a teady bear! The intensity of his love for Lanie, and how he is willing to handle her with care until he knows she's okay to move forward. Also, I have since added Bob Seger's You'll Accomp'ny Me to my play list and love that I get to think of Lanie and Hop every time I hear it!

Kristen Ashley’s Fire Inside takes place over roughly the same period of time as Own the Wind.  The two books complement each other well, as Fire goes into more depth on many of the common events.  Lanie and Hop are an interesting pair.  They both have good hearts and that seems to overcome any differences they might have.  They fight dramatically and make up with the same flair.  Their’s is somewhat of a rocky road, but they come out stronger in the end.  

There is quite a lot of sex in this book, so it is not for the feint of heart.

These are Bikers you can fall for

These are great stories of tough bikers and how the right woman has changed and completed their life. Not one book in the series is better than the other and you fall in love with each couple. The storyline for each is intensive and romantic with their ups and downs.

Love this series and hope there are more to come like this from Kristen.

Not fully developed

The stoty started well, but then it turned mediocre. The characters and the story wasn't fully developed. I didn't really know too much about the characters. There was some lame drama and suddenly they were in love. Meh-just read Kristen Ashley instead...
