Originally from Memphis, Tennessee Eric Jerome Dickey is the New York Times bestselling author of nineteen novels. He is also the author of a six-issue miniseries of graphic novels for Marvel Entertainment featuring Storm (X-Men) and the Black Panther. He lives on the road and rests in whatever hotel will have him.
After landing a job in the aerospace industry working as a software developer, Dickey's artistic talents surfaced, inspiring him to become an actor and a stand-up comedian. He soon began working the local and national comedy circuit. In the early 1990s the aerospace industry took a downward turn and Dickey found himself "downsized," but took this as an opportunity to embark on a writing career.
Having written several scripts for his personal comedy act, Dickey started writing poetry and short stories. He joined the IBWA (International Black Writers and Artists), participated in their development workshops, and became a recipient of the IBWA SEED Scholarship to attend UCLA's creative writing classes. In 1994 his first published short story, "Thirteen," appeared in the IBWA's River Crossing, Voices of the Diaspora: An Anthology of the International Black Experience. A second short story, "Days Gone By," was published in the magazine A Place to Enter.
With those successes behind him, Dickey decided to fine-tune some of his earlier work and developed a screenplay called Cappuccino. Cappuccino was directed and produced by Craig Ross Jr. and appeared in coffeehouses around the Los Angeles area. In February 1998, Cappuccino made its local debut during the Pan African Film Festival at the Magic Johnson Theater in Los Angeles and is currently on the film festival circuit.
Dickey's book-signing tours for Sister, Sister, Friends and Lovers, and Milk in My Coffee took him coast to coast and helped propel these novels to No. 1 on the Blackboard bestsellers List. His books have been featured in many publications, including Essence magazine and USA Today, and have appeared on the bestseller lists of The Los Angeles Times, Blackboard, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times. Dickey has appeared as a guest on many television shows, including BET's Our Voices and CNN's Sunday Morning Live.

I usually LOVE Eric's books but this book wasn;t good at all I forced myself to finish reading it.

When a scene from an upcoming movie becomes all too real, James’ world is turned and flipped upside down. He can run, but not too far as the world is privy to his shame with TV, Youtube and social networking sites like Facebook. What’s a man to do when the whole world knows about your mate’s accidental affair?
Opened the book, got so far and thought, ‘This just isn’t doing it for me.’ But I pressed on and I’m glad I did. Eric Jerome Dickey is a beast with words! We meet and get to know James Thicke. We believe in him and invest in his character. We feel his pain. And finally, we…well you’ll just have to read the book.
Admittedly, the book was a little slow to start for my liking, but it did pick up. Once it did, it never slowed down. “An Accidental Affair” was a great read. The author does a masterful job of building tension. EJD has a way of piling detail upon detail until readers feel as if they were in the scenes as they played out.
I know people will complain. Folks don’t like the way his writing has evolved. *Confession* I, too, was stuck there for a moment a few years back. I liked what I was used to getting from Dickey and didn’t understand the need for change. The change was growth. I love to see an author grow and mature with their writing and EJD has done that and then some.

This book was filled with drama and suspense from beginning to end! After reading the last page, I had to reflect on how passionately one can love another, and the risks one is willing to take all in the name of love. Eric Jerome Dickey wove a tale that is quite masterful to say the least. I got into the story and into the heads of the characters. I felt sympathy for James Thicke, despised Johnny Bergs and Bobby Holland, and developed a love/hate emotion for Regina Baptiste. I could envision this story playing out in my head as if it were on the big screen. Eric Jerome Dickey has been absent for a brief time, but this work was well worth the wait!

I am an EJD fan and that is the reason I gave the book 3 stars. I thought this book was interesting but it wasn't as captivating as the Gideon Series. After reading the Gideon series I wanted more . I don't know that I got anything from reading this book except bad eyesight since I was read this book most of the time on my smartphone in the dark. It almost felt like EJD was trying too hard with the use of big words and poetic prose.

I wish I could put my words together as good as Eric Jerome to describe how well he has written this book. I have never seen such creativity in all my life of reading, except of course in Steig Larson "Girl with the dragon tattoo”. There are only a few great writers out there and Eric Jerome is on that list.
I love the character of James Thicke, he is a man of little words, yet very smart and intelligent. Only Eric Jerome is good enough to create characters with little details of their nationality as well as their appearance, and still it matters not. Eric writing style has changed over the years since he wrote his first books, and I love this book. People grow, writing styles change, and we cannot expect the same old writing all the time. I am a true fan Mr Dickey. Don’t let the negative feedback deter you. Love it…

I agree with the last remark, forcing myself to complete this book, don't think that I'm going to make it though. Giving it a two because the first few pages was interesting.

I loved this book I am a true fan and am intrigued with everything EJD writes since 1999! This book was great just relax and enter into Mr. Thickes world. I got caught up in his life just like I do for every other character in EJD novels. As with all his books I loved the rhythm of the words on the page and energy of EDJ novels. Sure I put the book down here and there... BUT I picked it right back UP as soon as I could. Thing that I dont like as with all his books is that they have to end :(
Mr Dickey If you write 80 more books I will anticipate each one and buy every last one of them.

Love EJD, always have.love how he pulled Ms.Bijou from pleasure,and his writing style,but while i never could put any of his other works down,i was able to with this read.i was left wanting and im not sure why

Eric Jerome Dickey did it again !!!! He kept me intrigued as I read this book that I was u enable to put down. Keep ur dictionary handy, because his vocabulary expanded, and I loves it !!! Nice to know that the Gideon Series will continue !!

Not his best work, but nowhere his worst either. Somewhat glad that I didn't buy it but I don't regret giving it some extra time for the suspense to build.
If you've read all of his other books then you can easily tell the difference from his great works like the Gideon series, some of his not-so-greats like Between Lovers or Milk in my Coffee, and the fairly good ones like this one and Drive me Crazy.

I've been a fan of EJD for a while and have read almost all of his books. For me, this book was an interesting read simply because I'm a fan of his work but, in my opinion, this book is not his best. I guess I've become spoiled by his Gideon Series and can't wait for the next one to roll out.

This book sucked. I only read about 100 pages of this book. It took me 2 weeks to read that much. ( A good book I can read 100 pages in a day!!!!! ) Finally,I had to throw in the towel. I used to love EJD, which is why I tired to stick with it. But his new style/story lines are not working for me. I would like to give this book 0 stars, but could not submit my review without giving it at least 1 star (beleive me I tried). I recommend that you find something else to read. I did.

This book ended up being a greater read than i expected since it started out very slow. I loved it, the twists and turns in th last part was spectacular. I'm glad i stuck with it to finish the book. If you stick with it, it becomes a great read.
