Harrison’s enjoyable seventh Elder Races paranormal (after Kinked) takes a trip to the Vampyre demesne in San Francisco. The Vampyres are hosting their annual audition and auction for new human attendants. Running away from a dangerous Djinn, Tess Graham reluctantly offers her skills for auction and attracts the attention of Xavier del Torro, who serves the Nightkind King. Despite her fear of Xavier, she agrees to train as his attendant, understanding that she must eventually offer her blood without hesitation. The epitome of a Spanish nobleman, Xavier hides his interest in Tess behind politeness and professionalism, but he can’t help but be impressed by her determination to conquer her fear of his kind and succeed as an attendant.     The hero and the heroine are great characters but sadly we don't

    The hero and the heroine are great characters but sadly we don't really get the couple time we need to really explore who they are and who they are together. The romance is slow starting but that didn't really bother me. However, not spending more time with them after that got together did. We should have started into the timeline of the next book I think. I would have loved to see the heroine finding her place. 




    There are lots of threads floating in the wind of this book which make the novel less pleasurable than it otherwise might have been. The Djinn issue is pretty easily resolved-it could be, of course, but it felt false. Why does the heroine think so badly of Vampires? The hero's occupation isn't really explore or shared in any depth and there was room for that at the end of the novel. 




    I like and trust Harrison as a writer. I am not really that interested in the next couple Julian and Mellie though. The reunited plot is not my favorite. 




    This series best book is the first but I still find it a lovely place to spend my time.

    I wasn't prepared to like this as much as the other books in the series, but I was wrong. This totally mesmerized me and I read it all in one sitting. The lead characters are so well written and, I confess, I have fallen in love with Xavier.
    Not only is Harrison an excellent writer, she is an intelligent one and I can't wait for the next book.

    Nights Honor

    Thea harrison wrote another good book. The story was interesting and as usual left me waiting impatiently for the next book.

    You don't have to read the privious books in the series to enjoy "Nights Honor" but I recommend reading them for pure enjoyment.

    Night’s Honor by Thea Harrison is the 7th full length novel of her Elder Races series. I am a big fan of this series, and this book took me by surprise. Thea goes out of her normal range, with a hero we never thought would get his own story. We do not get to see any of Dragos and his team. Night’s Honor belongs to Xavier del Torro, who is a Vampyre, and the Nightkind King Julian’s right hand. When we met Xavier in Serpent’s Kiss, he and Julian were not our favorites, as they gave our heroes Rune and Carling a hard time.

    We meet our heroine, Tess at the start. She is on the run, and decides to audition to become an attendant for a powerful vampire. In disgust, she leaves the audition, as no one paid attention to her. Except one…… Xavier, one of the most feared and powerful of the Vampyres.

    There is something about Tess that makes Xavier hire her for a one year trial. He senses her fear of him, but honors his deal to give her chance to learn. Tess meets many of the people working for Xavier, as she is trained how to fight and handle weapons. Each day she is pushed to the max by those training her, but she seems somewhat happy & safe living in this mansion. Xavier personally trains her how to dance the Waltz, and slowly she becomes more comfortable with him. One of the prerequisite for her to get past the one year trial is to be able to offer blood to him, something she cannot bring herself to do.

    Xavier finds himself becoming obsessed with Tess, and knows she is running from something. When she reads something in the paper, she decides to run again. Only this time, Xavier stops her and gets the truth out of her. Tess is running from a very powerful Dijinn, and not even Xavier can stop him. What follows from that point on is an exciting adventure that will put Tess and Xavier very much in danger, as well as Julian. Lives are at stake, with some twists and betrayals. It is a thrilling finish to the end.

    Even with the exciting storyline, it is the romance between Tess and Xavier that made this book so good. To watch someone like Xavier find himself falling in love, and Tess overcoming her fear of vampyres to fall in love with Xavier. I loved Tess, as she was despite her fears, a tough, outspoken & savvy heroine. Thea you have given us a fabulous story, with a hero we never thought we could fall for. Bravo! Night’s Honor is a great addition to the Elder Races series, and trust me when I say you will love Xavier and Tess.

    4.25 stars--NIGHT’S HONOR is the seventh full length instalment in Thea Harrison’s romantic Elder Races paranormal series. This is vampire Xavier del Torro and human female Tess Graham’ storyline. At the New Year’s Eve Vampyre’s Ball Tess offers herself up as a human attendant not knowing that her life is about to change when one of the most powerful and frightening Vampyre agrees to take her on. 
    The focus of the storyline is Tess’s training to become one of Xavier’s attendants but Tess has several issues that must be addressed. First and foremost Tess is hiding the real reason she has placed herself in the care of the sexy supernatural male-she is on the run and knows there isn’t much time; the fact that she is reluctant to share her blood makes Xavier more hesitant about her position within his house. While Tess slowly integrates herself into the household Xavier’s attraction to the feisty female is growing stronger. But there is trouble brewing within the Nightkind demesne and Xavier is about to risk everything to keep his human family safe.
    The relationship between Tess and Xavier is slow to build as Tess has a difficult time training for any possible attack. While Xavier tends to Nightkind business, Tess finds herself on the outside looking in. It is only when Xavier returns that he realizes that Tess is much more than a human attendant-he is falling for the female who stirs something deep within his soul.
    There are several secondary characters who all play a role within Xavier’s house. We are introduced to some of the key players in the Nightkind demesne which ensures a different direction in the Elder Races arc. As NIGHT’S HONOR primarily focuses on Tess and Xavier, there is very little interaction or mention of the previous storyline characters.
    With NIGHT’S HONOR Thea Harrison returns to her paranormal roots. Tess and Xavier’s story is provocative, intense and sensual, and the change in story arc direction pulls the reader into a whole new level of imagination and storytelling.

    Really enjoyed this

    I loved the hero/heroine together and individually. Based upon the blurb, I was surprised at how simple and easy the plot thread with the Djinn was resolved. I kept waiting for something else to happen. Overall, I would read the story again and recommend to a friend.

    I am a sucker for romance, be it contemporary, suspense, fantasy and especially PNR but lately I have been reading more contemporary and new adult novels in general.  No specific reason, but mostly because there’s quite a few of them coming out.  In the midst of all this hype, Thea brought me back to where my love for reading has begun. It was my attraction and love for paranormal novels.  And this particular vampire…swept me off my feet.

    Tess was caught in a web of success and money until she found out that the person she worked for is as crooked as can be. Unfortunately, she’d had to make some choices that put her out of a job and her life in danger.  Left with nowhere to go, she applied for a job for one of the most powerful Vampyre of the Nightkind Demesne, Xavier de Torro.

    Like I said, Xavier swept me off my feet.  He was such romantic. He has the looks, dance moves, power, and known for his ruthlessness.  He has marked his place in the Nightkind Demsne as Julian’s right hand man, making him feared and respected. He didn’t advertise who he is, but I love that he wasn’t shy about it.  And he will use that to his advantage to save Tess.  He had the Knight in shining armor about him which I totally swooned over. *cues the eye rolling* I know I’m such a sap.  I can’t help it; he absolutely won me over with his very being.

    Tess was okay.  She’s not my favorite heroine, but she came through in the end.  In the beginning, it was all about her survival.  Not that she was selfish, but her predicament left her closed off to anyone including Xavier.  Eventually, she got over her issues and earned the respect of her colleagues, Xavier, and me as a reader.  It helped that in the end, SHE was the Knight in Shining armor.

    Julian and Xavier’s world was brought out in the open including their relations and world of politics but not nearly enough.  This book would be grander if was longer, IMO. I would’ve been okay with a little more Elder Races and Xavier page time.  The set up for Julian’s book was brief but had me wanting for more.  Julian’s character is a most anticipated read, and his book will be next.  Brace yourselves, Thea fans!

    Night's Honor by Thea Harrison

    Thea Harrison continues the Elder Races series, with her seventh book, Night's Honor. This series has given the reader everything from dragons to fae and in this book readers travel to the vampire corner of Harrison's world. Xavier is an elegant, but deadly, vampire assassin and Tess is on the run from a Djinn that wants to do her in. The sexual tension is high and world building is exceptional. Harrison once again thrills readers with a slow burning romance and enough action to light up the night! A great addition to the series. What I liked: Thea Harrison is one of those writers that makes paranormal readers stand up and take notice. Her books embrace the supernatural in such a way that the reader can almost feel kinship with her characters. She gets down to the nitty-gritty of what makes these dragons, vampires, fae... tick. In her latest novel, Night's Honor readers get to see the inner workings of a vampire household. They get to see what all the fuss is about when it comes to the Nightkind. I loved the way Harrison chose to portray her vampires. These vampires are old. Most of them in this story anyway. Harrison does a fantastic job of allowing the reader to 'feel' the age of these characters. Xavier, the hero, was a former priest during the Spanish Inquisition. The reader not only sees the brutal and dangerous side of his character, but also his cultured and elegant side. He has such a quiet and controlled, yet passionate demeanor. He is probably one of my favorite vampire characters ever. There is just something about him that seems so fundamentally real. Tess, the heroine, is on the run. She has gotten herself into a bit of spot with Djinn. Not a supernatural you want to mess with. She might be scared to death of vampires, but she's more scared of what hunts her. I liked her brutal honesty. Her will to survive and determined manner in everything she did. Once she became Xavier's human attendant, she immerses herself in his culture, in his household and in his life. Seeing her ideas of what it meant to be among the vampires change and grow was an exceptional part of this book. The romance is what I would call a slow burn. As a reader you have to consider the fact that this is a vampire you are reading about. He is immortal and has all the time in the world. There is no reason to rush. I loved the fact that Harrison let Tess dictate the pace of this relationship and that Xavier was willing to wait until that perfect moment when Tess was open and ready to be a part of him. It might be toward the latter part of the book before readers see passion between these two, but it is soooooo worth the wait! Bottom Line: Night's Honor was a great lead in to more vampire books in this series. It appears that King Julian may get his happy ending in the next book. Just when I think there are no more new ways for authors to show us their ideas of vampires, I am yet again surprised. Harrison's world building skills are unarguably some of the best in the business. If you are a paranormal fan of anything, this book will make you glad you are!

    This series just keeps getting better and better.  Xavier del To

    This series just keeps getting better and better.  Xavier del Torro, Vampyre, turns out to be a very complex, introspective and caring person.  This was a unexpected reveal since in other books he came off and mainly dangerous and scary.  What makes this book particularly enjoyable is how his "other side" is revealed in the story telling of his relationships and actions  with his Attendants, and Julian. . . and of course Tess.  I think I am a little in love with now, too!  The other players in the story are equally well developed and believable.




    Tess is a gutsy, clever, courageous heroine.  I particularly like how the djinns were used in this story.  Very clever.  It was entrancing to see her relation ship with Xavier change and grow.




    I wasn't sure how I would like this book because it doesn't have the Wyr involved although there is mention of the Sentinel games.  I LOVED the book.  I, also, bought the audiobook with it.  This worked out great because I could listen to it as I drove to work and didn't have to put it d down.
