BODY CHECK

Everything’s coming together for budding fashion designer Carolina Preston. Only months away from having her own line, she could use some publicity. That’s when her brother suggests his best friend as a model—hockey player Drew Hogan.

Carolina and Drew already have a history—a hot one, back in college. Unforgettable for Carolina, but for Drew, just another slap shot. This time, though, it’s different. His perfect body would be for professional use only. This time, she could use him.

Drew is all for it. He’s looking forward to the exposure. Plus, it would give him a chance to prove to Carolina that he’s changed. If only he could thaw her emotions, convince her to let down her guard and let him in just one more time…

Publishers Weekly

In her seventh Play-by-Play sports-themed contemporary (after One Sweet Ride), Burton pairs hockey with haute couture. Carolina Preston is living her dream of debuting as a fashion designer at New York's Fashion Week. When she asks her brother, Gray, a champion auto racer, to model for her, he invites his friend Drew Hogan along to help out. Drew is the last man Carolina wants on her mind; ever since a heartbreaking one-night stand with him in college, Carolina has had nothing but contempt for the hockey star. But Drew persists in trying to make amends. When he takes Carolina to the Rockefeller Center ice-skating rink, she realizes that the callous jock of her youth has become a sweet guy who signs autographs for kids. Burton maintains the romantic and professional tension while allowing themes of regret and forgiveness to come through. This light romp lacks thrilling highs or gut-wrenching lows, but it follows the protagonists smoothly to a satisfying conclusion. (Feb.)

Preparing her debut line for Fashion Week, Carolina Preston knows her brother's suggestion to have his best friend model for her is a good one—even if the one hot, secret night she shared in college with sexy hockey star Drew Hogan makes her wary. Carolina has worked hard to launch her own fashion line, paying her dues and putting her life on hold until she establishes herself in her chosen career as a designer. Now that her dream is in her sights, and she's staring down her first-ever Fashion Week with her own designs, she wants a new angle. Her brother offers to model for her and suggests asking Drew, his best friend from college and a supersexy hockey star. At first, Carolina resists. Unbeknownst to anyone, she and Drew shared a hot one-night stand in college, though she had hoped for much more from her long-standing crush. Drew broke her heart, so she's not thrilled with the idea of spending any time with him. And yet, the idea of a couple of sports heroes modeling her line is fresh and unique. The more time Carolina spends with Drew, the more determined he seems to prove to Carolina that he's changed. And that he might be a good bet for forever. In this installment of her Play-By-Play series, Burton continues her athlete-themed stories with a hot hockey player looking for redemption from the girl who's always intrigued him, despite his disgraceful actions years ago. Fast-paced, with intense sex scenes and an intriguing jumble of the sports and fashion worlds, this steamy novel will satisfy those who like a little heat in their love stories.

    A little disappointed

    ## Sorry, but I have to agree with another reviewer that this story lacked chemistry. Yes, the hero and heroine had a lot of sex but you just couldn't feel the love. I couldn't scrounge up any fondness for Drew. He started off a jerk and promised not to hurt Carlina again but of course he did. Once again letting her down. Next thing we know, BAM, she forgives all without question. After the way he treated her she should've kicked this guy to the curb. Just sayin'. As always Jaci's writing style was superb and the ending was long and satisfying so I upped my rating to 3 stars. Although slightly disappointed, I will definitely buy the next one.

I am such a huge fan of the Play-By-Play series by Jaci Burton.

I am such a huge fan of the Play-By-Play series by Jaci Burton. I thought this one was fabulous. I revisited the Preston family who were featured in the previous book. I loved that the hero, Drew, was a hockey player and the heroine, Carolina, was a fashion designer. They had a previous encounter that ended very badly and was made more difficult because Drew and Carolina's brother were best friends so it was inevitable that they would see each other from time to time so the previous encounter was a reminder every time they saw each other. This time however they needed each other and each time together was better and better. Their relationship developed fabulously and I loved every minute of it. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

"Your Highness," He proclaimed, "You're sister, Princess Ana, will be returning from her date with Krisoff really soon." Elsa gasped. "How soon?" She asked. Then she heard it. The nieghing of horses. Elsa rushed outside, only to be met by a smiling sister and her boyfriend. "Elsa!" Cried Ana. "Krisoff proposed to me!" "WHAT?!" Shrieked Elsa. "Yes! Is something wrong?" "No..." said Elsa walking away. She diecieded to freeze things to get her shock away. She was about to freeze a bee when someone stopped her. That someone was Rye. "You coming tomorrow? An awsome suprise waiting there." "Yes..." said Elsa. "Got to go." She hurried away, only to be met by her sister, with a suprised look on her face. Elsa gave her a glare, and Ana looked away. Elsa walked in the palace, half smile half frown on her face. She couldn't wait!

Jaci Burton writes books that are without a doubt sexy, romantic and full of characters to fall in love with. This is the latest in her Play By Play series which is set in the world of sport and this time she's exposing a certain ice hockey player to her readers. If you haven't read her books before then maybe start with The Perfect Play but this story can be read as a standalone .

Eight years ago Carolina spent one blissful night in the arms of the one man she had always wanted. Drew was celebrating his graduation and couldn't believe his luck when the enchanting Carolina said she wanted him. He'd always avoided her as his best friend is her brother but that night lust and alcohol just stole all his good sense. Carolina was devastated when in the cold light of day it was obvious that to Drew it was just a one time only thing. Now she's making a life for herself and the one thing she doesn't need is any reminder of her past mistake.

Carolina is trying to make a name for herself in the fashion world and asks her brother to model for her. He's happy to help but before she can stop him he contacts his best friend Drew to ask him about modelling Carolina's clothes. Having a sporting icon would be good publicity but the last thing Carolina wants is to spend any time with ice hockey professional Drew. Problem is Drew seems more than happy to help and Carolina can't help but feel that he's trying to manipulate her in some way. Drew realises that he behaved like an immature idiot in the past and wants to show Carolina that he's grown up. Working together could give him plenty of opportunity to show Carolina that he's changed and if he's lucky maybe he can get the chance to show her that he's now ready for something more meaningful.

Drew is still the man that Carolina fantasies about but there's no way she will let him break her heart again. Yet Drew is constantly surprising her and Carolina starts to see the man that he has become. Will her family accept him in her life and just where are they heading? There's no denying the passion between them but can Carolina really forgive him?

This is the seventh book in this fast paced series and as usual it's a very heated tale! This author writes books that are definitely hot enough to melt ice! A steamy read is always guaranteed when you buy one of these books.

Absolutely gorgeous cover that will certainly attract attention and characters with heart that readers will care about. This book will certainly make any reader smile as the hero Drew pursues his lady. Luckily she stops running long enough for him to catch her!

    Love This Series

This is the 7th book in the series and I have read and loved them all... Jaci Burton is my kinda author... Her books read fast and the stories flow very well... This story of Drew and Carolina was no different from the others in that Drew was a star hockey player and Carolina was the daughter of the Vice President of the United States who was working her tail off to create her own fashion line for both men and women... She didn't have time for romance but when her brother suggested Drew, his best friend and Carolina's "first", as a model for her show sparks flew and the romance was very spontaneous... Loved the book!!
