Overview

National bestselling author Sylvain Reynard continues the story of Gabriel and Julia, two lovers bound together by their darkest desires.

But those very desires may destroy them . . .

Professor Gabriel Emerson has embarked on a passionate, yet clandestine affair with his former student Julia Mitchell. Sequestered on a romantic holiday in Italy, he tutors her in the sensual delights of the body and the raptures of sex.

But when they return, their happiness is threatened by conspiring students, academic politics, and a jealous ex-lover. When Gabriel is confronted by the university administration, will he succumb to Dante’s fate? Or will he fight to keep Julia, his Beatrice, forever?

In Gabriel’s Rapture, the brilliant sequel to the wildly successful debut novel, Gabriel’s Inferno, Sylvain Reynard weaves an exquisite love story that will touch the reader’s mind, body, and soul, forever.

    So-So

So-So. I really wanted to read this novel after Gabriel's Inferno and find out how things transpired between Gabriel and Julianne. The novel picks up directly after the first one, the morning after they arrive in Italy. Julia and Gabriel spend two glorious weeks in Italy, where they grow to love each other more and more. Once they return to Toronto however, things take a downward spiral. Not only is Christa using all her tricks to try and sabotage Gabriel and Julia's relationship, she is now aiming to have Gabriel fired and make sure that Julia never attains her dreams of going to Harvard and becoming a future professor. On top of that, Gabriel must contend with Paulina, the mother of his child and former drug addict/girlfriend. To save Julia, Gabriel must sacrifice what he holds most dear and hope that Julia will forgive him...

What I Liked: Hmmmm I liked that Sylvain Reynard added another layer of obstacles for Julia and Gabriel to overcome as well as made his sacrifice so great and so painful, not only for himself, but for Julia and everyone around them: Paul, Tom, Rachel, Scott. The novel was very, very sweet and the love Gabriel gives Julia is a love that only appears once in a lifetime and is a love of legendary proportions.

What I Didn't Like: Julia...seriously?? Give the man some credit! Stop crying about yourself and your troubles and cut Gabriel some slack. Sheesh! Everything Gabriel does, he does for the betterment of Julia and her future and he tells her that All.The.TIME! So it's not too hard to infer that Gabriel had to make sacrifices to ensure that Julia could make her dreams come true. Julia should have been way more grateful for what Gabriel did for her rather than going on and on about being equals in the relationship and making her own decisions and errors. And Gabriel even asked her later, along the lines of 'would you have let me do it if you knew?' and she said no. Good Lord. Julia, be grateful for such a wonderful man.

I didn't have as strong of an emotional attachment to this one unfortunately, so I give it 3.5 stars.

I love Gabriel's Rapture as much as Gabriel's Inferno. I purchased the kindle version last night while I wait for my actual book copy to arrive. I had to force my self to bed because I just couldn't put the story down. I can't wait to go home and finish reading the story tonight. Great job Sylvain Reynard! I can't wait to see what next great story you come up with.

    Better than 50 Shades...

The second story of this series was better than the first. I enjoyed watching Gabriel turn his life around and become a true man of character. Julianne came out of her shell and held her own. Writing in the best form and quite romantic and erotic. Jeanetta

I just finished Gabriel's Rapture by Sylvain Reynard and have to

I just finished Gabriel's Rapture by Sylvain Reynard and have to say this is one of the best emotional rollercoaster rides I have ever been on. Since I read Gabriel's Inferno months ago, I read the last fifty pages of it before starting Gabriel's Rapture. Author Sylvain Reynard takes the reader on a journey that tugs at your heartstrings and leaves you gasping for breath at the same time.

"I would have done whatever it took to save you." His voice and his expression were grave. "Even if that meant I had to spend eternity in Hell."

This quote by Gabriel about his love Julia is so spot on because he does experience "Hell" and have to say that this downward descent is what he needed to become the man worthy of a woman like Julia.

Even though the synopsis gives the reader a basic idea about the storyline, I wasn't prepared for the depth of the pain, loss, and suffering that both Gabriel and Julia would have to endure. It was so sweet to read how they were beginning to bask in their love for each other, but unfortunately their love would also be tested.

As a fan of audio books, I like to read conversations between the hero and heroine outloud and this author knows how to write dialog that is eloquent and very true to life.

The transformation of Gabriel and growth/maturity of Julia only enhances their relationship and makes you wish for some kind of future sequel to see how these characters are doing together.

Kudos to this author - he never ceases to amaze me on how creative and imaginative his storytelling skills are!

    Liked both books

It is not fifty shades at all but yet similar in the tourtured soul of Gabriel. Julia is a very frustrating person. The poor man govels constantly to her and her lack of maturity is frustraiting. I would have liked to have seen her character "gow up" in the second book and stop with the childish behavior. A college grad student would be more mature. Overall it was good but not one I would read again. She is a very selfish self centered person and he beggs way too much. Due to this it is frustraiting to read. The ending was a little disappointing, again it was all about her. I would have liked to have seen an eplogue where Gabiel could have his desires met without constant focus on this very self absorbed girl maybe a child to finally complete him and to let him be the focus for a change. I can only give this three stars.

    Just Okay.

I didn't really enjoy this two book series. I didn't care for the student/ teacher relationship and the stories never really captured me.

    Soso

I feel conflicted. I dont really understand why he coukdnt drop better hints. She is young and he might never be able to give her a child, completely of his own choice. He was innchurch praying his a@@ off for the other woman, not his beloved. I dont feel like she made him suffer enough to win her heart, if that makes sense. I hate books where thr characters fight forever, but in the same token i hate it when one gets hurt and just instantly gets over it. Finally, i have more questions than answers and totally feel like we need another book. Christa? Paul? Do they have a child?
