Overview

’Twas the night before Christmas . . . and dozens of rich, influential hostages are trapped inside a sprawling lakefront mansion in New Orleans. The perp? Detective Reed Ware, model cop turned outlaw. Reed’s out for truth, and will stop at nothing to get it—including waging a coup among the city’s most elite, including the mayor, the council chairman, the sheriff, and the superintendent of police . . . who just happens to be hostage negotiator Caroline Wallace’s father.

Cool, calm, controlled. That’s Caroline’s reputation. But when Reed, looking even hotter than he did years ago when seventeen-year-old Caroline tried to seduce him, becomes her next case, she’s swept up by their still-sizzling tension.

Nothing about tonight is what it seems, and it’s up to Caroline to put the pieces together—if she can think fast enough over the pounding of her heart. But the harder Caroline tries to do her job, the more she begins to wonder whose side she’s really on.

    Too good to put down!

Her books are always a great read! I hated for it to come to the end. Excitement, suspense and just enough romance set in a great location.

Hunted is a suspenseful mystery with a lot of heat between two characters fighting for what's right. I would highly recommend Hunted to any romantic suspense reader...brace yourself!   Caroline is now a Jefferson Parish police sergeant and a hostage negotiator. When she is called out on Christmas Eve to a mansion where some of Jefferson Parish's top brass are being held hostage, she is shocked to discover not only is one of the hostages her father, but the hostage taker is Reed. When Reed manages to escape, taking Holly and Caroline with him, Caroline soon begins to realize there is a lot more to the story than Reed is telling her...and she soon begins to realize she really does want to help him. Just being with him has put her in danger now too...and Reed is going to have to trust someone to help him. For someone who trust's no one, it will be a big step for Reed to trust Caroline, but it might be one he has to take, even if there is far more going on than Caroline can imagine. Reed is a homocide detective in New Orleans. Having lost his ex-wife and young son in an accident 3 years ago, Reed has been living to work. But he is getting tired of it, tired of all the killing and badness. Holly and Ant are two young teen boys he has come to know through work and has befriended, trying to help after they lost their mother to murder. With Holly determined to find the people responsible for his mother's death, Reed becomes entrenched in a graveyard of gang related killings. But does the murder stop with the gangs? Or is there more going on than anyone would want someone like Reed to find out?

One of Robards' Best - Sexy and Steamy!

Loved Hunted! It was very sexy, hot, steamy, fast paced, and full of suspense! Lots of chemistry between Reed (homicide detective) and Caroline (cop and daughter of police sergeant).

I listened to the audio book and it was right on with the slow southern New Orleans Big Easy accent. I adore Cassandra Campbell and this was my first time listening to MacLeod Andrews (Narrators)-they were a perfect pair –listening to the wee hours of the morning to see how it ended!

Reed lost his ex-wife and son in an accident more than 3 yrs ago and finds himself fired and at the beginning of the book and is holding a mansion full of people hostage. Holly and Ant are two young teen boys he has befriended and he is trying to help them after their mom was murdered. He knows the police had something to do with it and when he explains he was fired. He decides to take matters into his own hands.

Caroline had a crush on Reed more than 10 yrs. earlier when she was a teen. Her attraction for him still exists and now that she is older Reed feels the same. She is sent to the mansion on Christmas Eve and Reed not only escapes – he takes Holly and Caroline with him. Caroline knows Reed is a good cop so she decides to help him. Little does she know at the time, her father is also involved?

Karen Robards is at the top of her game with Hunted and one I would highly recommend – if you hate police corruption – you will love it! Caroline and Reed are strong independent characters and so hot together- Highly recommend!

3.5 Stars--Police Novel That Cops Out, No Spoilers

To be fair, I suppose a romance/suspense writer can't win. If they concentrate on the crime aspect, we want more romance. If they concentrate on the romance, we want more police procedural plotting. I am a Karen Robards fan, but the buildup of passion and the sex scenes weren't just too plentiful, they were a bit unbelievable in the circumstances. The police aspect starts out well, but too much of the resolution takes place behind the scenes. A decent read, but ultimately not satisfying.

Interesting read. It held my interest.

The main character, a police detective, becomes the hunted in the story and captures the one person who is trying to help him.

This book is one long sex scene with a little bit of a story here and there. I didn't really care for it. I've always enjoyed her books in the past but her most recent books have been a big letdown.

Not finished reading but as of now would rate it a three

Am reading this at the present time so cannot rate it now; however I thought it a little hard to get in to, which is unusual for her but once I did, is quite good. She is a favorite author of mine.
