NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4 REVIEW:  Grant will not let another Fairplay

    NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4
    REVIEW:
Grant will not let another Fairplay come into his home and try to take over. He didn’t let the last one do that and he won’t let this one do it either. But poor, poor Grant has no idea what is about to walk through his doors.

Colleen is excited and nervous to finally be at the Farraige Castle and ready to take on the manager of the estate too. No matter what he has planned she is ready. One little problem. No one told her that Grant and his clan were Highland Wolfs. Well doesn’t that just throw a monkey wrench in the whole thing.

I didn’t realize when I pick this book up that it was book 14 of Terry’s Heart of the Wolf series. But Hero of a Highland Wolf was easily read as a stand alone. Yes there were other couples together that made me realize that I might have missed a book or two before this one, but I would not have guessed I missed 13 :).

I really enjoyed Grant & Colleen. They are both alpha to the core yet they both turn to putty when they are together. Something that fires both of them at times. I loved the all night girl party that Colleen has with Julia. My only issue with this story is the drama. I would have loved to see that bad guy get a little more sneaky and maybe his ass handed to him a little more. But all in all this was a great Highland Wolf story :). Come one hot wolf shifters in kilts? Does it get much better?

I can’t wait to see what Terry has in store for these Highland Wolfs. I have my guess who is next and it should be a fun ride to watch him fall.

    Overall Rating:  4 Rockin’ Stars

Colleen is an American and has inherited her family’s castle in Scotland.  She is also a royal and can change into her wolf whenever she wants too and this is a big problem. In order to inherit Colleen must live at the castle for a full year and that could be a disaster if she has to hide her wolf from the castle staff.  Her father had told her that all of the staff would be human, including Grant the castle’s administrator.

Grant’s family has administered Farraige Castle for over seven centuries.  He is lupus garou and his wolf genetics have insured that he will have a long life to continue his family’s legacy. When Colleen’s father had inherited the castle at his mother’s death he had returned to the states and left the management to Grant.  Now that Colleen is coming to Scotland to take over as owner he is concerned that she will try to oust him as the castle’s manager.  Grant comes up with a plan to convince Colleen that he all of the other people that live in and around the castle are barbarians and dangerous so that she will leave and go back home.  He enlists his friend Ian to help with a fake battle to scare Colleen.

Little does Grant know that his plans have all been exposed to Colleen by her best friend, Julia Wildthorn, now mated to Ian MacNeill.  No one knows that they are best friends and that she knows about the mock battle and plans to run her off, so Colleen plans to video tape the entire battle and look at any time she wants too.  Colleen also plans on sharing her video with her BFF.  She cannot believe that her father lied to her about all the staff being human when they are all wolves.  When Grant’s younger brother Lachlan, stops fighting and goes to introduce himself to Colleen he soon discovers that she is not frightened at all.  Then she tells him the reason that she is only videotaping Grant and Ian.

Regardless what Grant tried Colleen was having none of it.  She was here to stay and Grant would have to just get over it. When an old enemy tries to lure Colleen to his side, Grant realizes that she may be the wolf for him.  Will they find a way to bridge the gap between them?  Will Grant be able to protect her from the enemy that wants to control her inheritance?

I really enjoy how Ms Spears write's her character's stories. Just enough background for you to get to know the characters.  Then she jumps into the story.  1 of Ms Spears books was my first introduction of the lupus garu world.  Keep writing and I'll keep reading.  Thank you

This whole book was quite funny. I thoroughly enjoyed the non-stop one-upsman the two played with each other, from the mock sword fighting to convince her they were all barbarians, to the calmly filming said sword fighting. The girls night out thing with the boxer (and subsequent) panty raid was quite amusing.

I found the secondary plot nicely filled out as well, with believable motivations (not necessarily 'nice' motivations, mind you, given what the villains wanted, but at least I could see their justification for it).

I'm so glad I've found Ms. Spears' work and will continue to enjoy reading them in the future.

4 stars-HERO OF A HIGHLAND WOLF is the fourteenth instalment in

4 stars-HERO OF A HIGHLAND WOLF is the fourteenth instalment in Terry Spear’s Heart of the Wolf paranormal romance series focusing on the wolf shifters of the Scottish Highlands. This is Alpha Highland wolf Grant MacQuarrie and American female alpha Colleen Playfair. HERO OF A HIGHLAND WOLF can be read as a standalone; many of the previous storyline couples play secondary roles but their history is not necessary to the enjoyment of this particular storyline.
Following the death of her beloved Grandmother, Colleen Playfair heads to Scotland where she learns that to claim Farraige Castle as part of her inheritance she must remain in Scotland for one year. Believing that the Castle staff is human, Colleen is feeling reluctant and ambivalent about her visit. But all too soon, she discovers that not only is the castle run by wolves, but the MacQuarrie Alpha wants nothing to do with her presence.
The relationship between Grant and Colleen begins rather comically when Grant plays one tactic after another to push Colleen away. From Highland Games style sword fights to wild boar dinners, Grant tries in vain to scare the American she-wolf away. Little does he realize that his inner wolf and most of the staff believe that Colleen, quite possibly, is his mate.  I like that Terry does not play up the angst of a mating angle-Grant and Colleen know what they want and there is none of the push and pull of maybe or maybe not.
The storyline and thusly the relationship is slow to build as our leading couple dance around one another for a good portion of the book. Their attraction is immediate but their family history will reveal the animosity that goes back hundreds of years. The secondary characters drive a good portion of the story with humor, history and the potential for another mating.
HERO OF A HIGHLAND WOLF is an imaginative, seductive and fun read-who knew wolves like to play dress-up as pirates and wenches. If you are a fan of the paranormal shifter storylines, Terry Spear’s Heart of the Wolf series is must read: family, friends, werewolves and sex; add a little bit of humor and you have the perfect combination for romance and fun all capped off with a man in a Highland kilt.

    They're enemies. They're lovers. It's dangerously complicated.

HERO OF A HIGHLAND WOLF by Terry Spear is a wonderful romance featuring titillating, brawny, kilted Highland wolves! The tale is riveting as I had to stay up until the early morning to finish it. :-)
HERO OF A HIGHLAND WOLF is the fourteenth novel in her Heart of the Wolf series. Each of these books can be easily read as standalones even though there are interconnected characters. If you can, I highly recommend reading all the books in this series as they are all fantastically fun! This particular book is the story of Laird Grant MacQuarrie and Lady Colleen Playfair.

    - 4.5 Highland Wolf Stars -

I love picking up any of Ms. Spear book's. They always feel like a new adventure, with great characters and sweet romance. She writes the most interesting shifter characters. I especially love reading about her highland wolves. They are just so yummy.

Hero of a Highland Wolf is book fourteen in Heart of the Wolf series by Terry Spear. Hero of a Highland Wolf can be read as a standalone. We get humor, sweet romance, revenge and family.

I was pulled in from the first page. Really who can not be pulled in by brawny werewolves in kilts and nothing else. I’m a sucker for sexy highland shifters of any kind and when they are dressed in kilts only. Oh Baby! Let me get my fan. What does a shifter wolf wear under his kilt? You guessed it!

Grant MacQuarrie is the caretaker of Farriage Castle which Colleen Playfair inherited. Grant has some fears, so he hatches a plan. Let me tell you I loved this plan and got a great laugh when the plan does not work and the joke is on Grant as Colleen is best friends with Julia. This book is a lot of fun, the romance builds slowly with misunderstandings, danger and a rival. When they finally get together the scenes are smoking hot! We always get a great cast of characters in Ms. Spear book’s and this one is no different. I love the camaraderie of the pack’s and the ladies’ party was so much fun to read.

What I like best is you don’t need to have read each book in order to understand and enjoy them. If you have not yet had a chance to read this series, get started. It is well worth the time. Ms. Spears is a fantastic writer and her humor is wonderful.

Colleen Playfair inherited her family castle in Scotland with one stipulation, she must live their for a year and a day. She is excited about the new prospect. Colleen's best friend was also mated by a Scotland wolf shifter and she is looking forward to seeing her as well.

Grant MacQuarrie's family has managed the Farraige Castle for years. He will do anything to keep the Playfair heir from interfering with his pack and the castle that the pack has made their home.

Colleen didn't know Grant was a wolf shifter but she isn't going to just let his alpha ways intimidate her. It becomes a fun battle of wills with a chemistry that can't be denied.

Spear had me with all those KILTS but kept me with a wonderfully delightful romance, action, swordplay and a villain with malicious intent. Straight out, I loved Hero of a Highland Wolf. Packed full of witty, intelligent and engaging shifter characters, the story flowed at a perfect rate to keep me riveted to the pages.

Don't miss this perfect shifter romance, you won't be disappointed.

Terry Spear provides readers with another riveting Highland wolf

Terry Spear provides readers with another riveting Highland wolf book and this one has lots of sexy shirtless Highlanders in kilts.  I was completely captivated by this charming story from the very beginning, there was surprising twists and dangerous elements, quite a few chuckles and of course the sexy men in kilts to keep readers entertained.

Colleen Playfair inherited a castle in Scotland.  Grant MacQuarrie’s pack has been managing that estate for three centuries.  Neither one is what the other expected.

Colleen is a wonderful heroine.  I love that she has a back bone and doesn’t let the pack walk all over her.  She is a worthy alpha female who will challenge any alpha male; maybe a little to the extreme.

I liked Grant.  He is a strong alpha and a loyal leader who looks out for those he cares for. He wrongly pre judged Colleen, but admirably was willing to admit his mistakes.

I really enjoyed the plot. It has an appealing twist in shape shifter novels.  The story was interesting and kept me intrigued.   I loved the pirate party. The battle of wits between the males and females was definitely entertaining.

Hero of a Highland Wolf is a delightful book that has a little of everything: paranormal, humor, mystery, action, and romance.   Terry Spear is an exceptional writer whose work I look forward to continuing reading.
