    No One Does it Better

Kresley Cole makes me want to read. From the time I open the cover I am immersed in the journey with the storyline and characters drawing you in as though you are there inside the pages experiencing each and every emotion and adventure with them.

Uilleam MacRieve or Will to his family has lost and mourned much over his centuries but he seems to be finally putting his demons to rest and getting right with himself. That is until he is targeted again Uilleam is captured and brutally tortured at the hand of the Order. Now his thirst for blood and need for revenges has all but consumes him.

Chloe Todd is your average twenty four year old she plays soccer on the weekends and has a father that loves her, so why do thing seem not quite the same anymore. Chloe is noticing changes in both her and her father. In Chloe it is the physical changes, she no longer needs to eat as much and she needs little sleep yet she has ample energy to sustain her day, with her father it more personal he is becoming secretive and distant. When Chloe finally confronts her father his only response is to say he though she was clear and with that he hands Chloe a book and tells her to read it, then he is gone.

Chloe is confused and disoriented when she is taken from her home and awakens to find herself at the site of what seems to be an auction, HERS. Chloe quickly realises that what she thought were tales or myths from a book her father gave her is actually truth, but how did he know and why does it seem they have taken her because of him?. When Uilleam learns the witches have taken someone connected with his kidnapper both his twin brother Munro and him immediately leave to find what information they can about the man he seeks retribution from. Uilleam scents something as he draws nearer to the site and so does his twin Munro. Uilleam scents his mate, Munro scents his sister, with that desperation soon take over and they know they need to save the human girl before she is raped and tortured to find the location of the man that is torturing their kind. It doesn't take Uilleam long to know she is unaware of what her father has done and his need to protect and claim her is strong. As Chloe and Uilleam draw closer the past is about to come back to threaten everything they both need. Will Chloe accept was she is about to face and can Uilleam reopen the wounds of old to finally move forward and heal before it is too late?

MacRieve was one I had been waiting for and I would say that it was better than I could have imagined but I don't guess anymore I just wait anxiously for each new release date for this series by Kresley Cole because it is ALWAYS better than I could have imagined.

Oh how I love this series! I wish could could publish a book a month! There are so many characters that we fans are anticipating. MacRieve's story is just as excellent as the rest. Like another reviewer mentioned, it plays with so many emotions at once. I love Kresley's heroins. They aren't weak and timid..they are tough as snails and give these men a run for their money.
MacRieve's story involves many of the old characters we have come to love from previous books. The story also continues developing on the overal theme of the Accession that is coming. Many old questions are anwered in this book. Many new questions of what the future holds . I LOVE this series! To "Book Monster Reviews"...please learn what a book review is all about. Your "review" gave 95% of the plot line away. I personaly love spoilers, but for other readers who read your "review" you may have totally ruined those special moments in a story where the reader has to pause and take in the suprise elements that occur in a story. Shame on you.

Loved this book. Wonderful, heartbreaking, funny, and complicated. Highly recommend. Great addition to the series. Chloe is an exceptional heroine. Will is traumatized by his past, but Cole handles it expertly.

    more from this reviewer

In MacRieve (Immortals After Dark #13) by Kresley Cole, Uilleam

In MacRieve (Immortals After Dark #13) by Kresley Cole, Uilleam "Will" MacRieve is a warrior who has lived and learned for many centuries, yet he still can't let go of painful events from his childhood. Those horrors have shaped who he has become today: a tormented Scottsman who would rather let his shapeshifter self take control than deal with hurtful emotions on his own. MacRieve never thought he would find his mate and has been glad he hasn't yet found her, thinking himself so damaged that no one would ever want him.

While seeking revenge against an entity hurting immortals like himself, he finds the woman he is destined to be with and instinctively knows he must keep her from harm. They battle outside forces to explore their fledgling romance only to find themselves having to wage their own private war with their pasts and emotions. MacRieve is more confused than ever before, both loving and hating Chloe at the same time. How could the fates be so cruel after all he's been through?

Focused on her soccer career, Chloe Todd has never had time for dating. But lately men have been on her mind and she's noticed some other physical changes. She's taken from her home while her father is away on business and Chloe ends up for sale to the highest bidder at a witch auction. She only just learned about the Lore and wasn't entirely sure it really existed. Until now. Frightened for her life and what will happen next, Chloe is whisked away by a huge brute of a man with a sexy accent.

MacRieve keeps explaining to her that they are destined to be together and his job is protect and provide for her. But that changes her plans to enter the Olympics and advance her career. Chloe soon has more problems than soccer when her physical changes become the catalyst for a shift in their relationship. Now she has to worry about not only her safety but her heart as well.

Kresley Cole is a powerhouse in the paranormal genre. And her new novel MacRieve is a dark, dangerous addition to the Immortals After Dark series. This story delves into situations and emotions that may not always be pretty, but they are very raw and real. She of course has included some wonderful lighthearted moments in the plot along with a bit of humorous dialogue to keep it from getting too overwhelming. As you can probably tell from above, she's also a very quotable author!

The relationship between MacRieve and Chloe is very complicated, to say the least. Between events from his past, and her confusing family issues, they have so much to overcome. I enjoyed the playful ebb and flow between them as they are both very strong, independent people. Relationships are new to them both. Chloe is in her mid-twenties with little to no experience, and MacRieve may be centuries old, but he's never allowed himself to get attached to a female. There's a very big learning curve for them and they learn (the hard way) that communication is key.

The love scenes are dynamic, dirty and very, very hot! Again, Kresley uses both humor and strong emotions to draw us into the plot. The chemistry is palpable between Chloe and MacRieve, and even though they are looking at the situation from different perspectives, they are equally intense. Add in an exotic location and you have some definite sigh-worthy moments.

I highly recommend MacRieve for all of you paranormal romance lovers out there like myself. You can't go wrong with the Immortals After Dark series!

I was disappointed with this installment of the Immortals After Dark series. I didn't feel the chemistry between Chloe and Will and the story seemed to drag along. This didn't have the excitement like Lothaire did or Shadows Claim. I can't wait for Melanthe's story though.
