Overview

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Ever After of Ella and Micha comes a story of scars, courage, and new possibilities . . .

Luke Price's life has always been about order, control, and acting tough on the outside. For Luke, meaningless relationships are a distraction-a way to tune out the twisted memories of his childhood. He desperately wishes he could forget his past, but it haunts him no matter what he does.

Violet Hayes has had a rough life. When she was young, she was left with no family and the memory of her parents' unsolved murders. She grew up in foster homes, living with irresponsible parents, drugs, and neglect, and trying to fight the painful memories of the night her parents were taken from her. But it's hard to forget when she never got closure-and she can't stop dreaming about what happened that tragic night. To make it through life, she keeps her distance from everyone and never allows herself to feel anything.

Then Violet meets Luke. The two clash instantly, yet they can't seem to stay away from each other. Although they fight it, they both start to open up and feel things they've never felt before. They discover just how similar they are. But they also discover something else: The past always catches up with you . . .

    Good book

Good book but i am sick of this author splitting up all her books into series of two or more books. You have to buy all the books to find out what happens in the end. Drags on much longer than necessary.

4.5 ARE YOU KIDDING ME Stars

Yes, I am a fan of Sorensen because I feel she brings to life some of the most wonderfully broken characters whose stories affect me deeply. But seriously I should know better by now. It never fails that I am wanting to chuck my Ipad across the room when I hit the cliffhanger ending. Perhaps since I just finished reading The Ever After of Ella and Micha and since I thought of this as a shoot off like Lila and Ethan's book, I didn't expect the gut wrenching feelings I now have. But as always, any book that can evoke that much emotion from me, is in my mind an awesome book.

In The Destiny of Violet and Luke we get the story of Callie and Kayden's roomates. We have glimpsed Luke's messed up past in Callie and Kayden's books, but it is brought to the forefront in this story. Holy cow, I knew things were bad with his mom but I had no clue. For awhile I was worried the story was gonna be incestous, but this is just as warped.

Violet on the other hand is entirely different then what I had expected. She has a past that is just as messed up as Luke's and obviously she doesn't form attachments because of them. Luke feels for Violet after an incident which reminds him of his sister. After that they just seem to keep running into each other and along the way, they each find some comfort and the relationship evolves.

Completely off topic, but I loved Greyson in this book. His part was small, but I'm definitely loving him.

Back to what's really on my mind. I really shouldn't be so upset about the twist at the end as through my updates it was somewhat predictable and part of me is wondering how likely something like that could be. Still, what bothers me is that the twist is revealed, Violet reacts, and BOOM, the story is over.

I hope Ms. Sorensen is cranking out the next one because I am on the edge here.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

    Can Love Withstand the Past?

Two brutally damaged young people, unable to form a true relationship, to feel for and share themselves with another person, one event that brings them together, but can they form an unbreakable bond as one ugly coincidence threatens to shred their tenuous hold on each other? The Destiny of Violet and Luke by Jessica Sorensen, will take you over the edge, mentally and emotionally in this latest addition to Ms. Sorensen’s The Coincidence series.

Luke’s childhood was filled with the horrors of being a pawn for a drug addicted mother. No one came to his rescue, no one protected him when he needed it most, no one gave him unconditional love. Today he is an emotional disaster, a barren wasteland of feelings, or is his heart too afraid to reach out? Violet witnessed the unsolved murders of her parents as a child and carries a secret guilt for that night that prevents her from being able to reach out to others. Her nightmares of that time are her punishment, trapped in the mindset of a child, she refuses to confess what she thinks is her crime, feels she deserves to be treated badly. Along comes Luke when they are both at their lowest points. Is there something between them that fills the void they each harbor?

Jessica Sorensen is the queen of angst and pain. Her characters are not pretty, they are broken, scarred and scared. She brilliantly starts to heal them, gives them a chance to hang on to what they need. I felt she let them decide what to do with this gift, as they came to life for me. I’m still reeling from the emotional onslaught this book reigned down and must say, this is the darkest of the series, the most emotionally draining and the most difficult to deal with. Brutal, intense, one of those reads that will not leave my head!

I received an ARC edition from Forever (Grand Central Publishing)in exchange for my honest review.

    A must read.

Such an amazing book. The author did a great job creating these characters and making them collide into one another. I highly recommend it.

This was probably the most emotionally difficult of any of the books in this series, but I think it was the best one yet. It's not uncommon for me to want more to the story at the end, but this one was more than "I want more," it was "I have to know." I hope the next book comes soon because I feel like I'm waiting to find out the fate of real people.

OMG this book was fantastic! Of course it left me in a bit of a cliffhanger so I'm eager to read the next part of the story. The story line kept me interested and the characters felt like real people. I could feel their pain and found myself wishing for better things for them. This was a moving story and very emotionally charged. I look forward to the next book.

    Great!

My only complaint is that I don't want to wait for the next book. I want to know their story now. Jessica Sorensen makes you feel! I want Violet & Luke to have their "happily ever after". What tragedy they each had to endure. Gut wrenching, really.

One of my favorite books of all times is The Coincidence of Call

One of my favorite books of all times is The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden, which is book 1 in this series. I never, in my wildest dreams, thought Jessica could top that book, but I think she did. Violet and Luke. I don't even know where to start. First of all, I was almost sure Luke was gay, but we quickly realize that couldn't be further from the truth. Violet and Luke are so emotionally scarred. We get so much of their back story and I spent a good deal of time with my stomach in knots and wanting to sob for them and all the real life victims of abuse and tragedy. I don't know how, with 2 people as damaged as they were, how they were able to make it work, but they were. It wasn't easy and it took a long time to get there, but they did. I am absolutely in love with Luke. I want to hug him and squeeze him and make it all better.

Jessica's writing style just speaks to me. I literally devoured every single word and could not put this book down. My only wish is that we could've gotten more of Callie and Kayden, but that would've only been icing on a already fantastic cake.

Don't miss this one. 5 solid stars!
