Opposites in every way . . . except the one that matters

Shaw Landon loved Rule Archer from the moment she laid eyes on him. Rule is everything a straight—A pre-med student like Shaw shouldn't want—and the only person she's never tried to please. She isn't afraid of his scary piercings and tattoos or his wild attitude. Though she knows that Rule is wrong for her, her heart just won't listen.

To a rebel like Rule Archer, Shaw Landon is a stuck-up, perfect princess-and his dead twin brother's girl. She lives by other people's rules; he makes his own. He doesn't have time for a good girl like Shaw-even if she's the only one who can see the person he truly is.

But a short skirt, too many birthday cocktails, and spilled secrets lead to a night neither can forget. Now, Shaw and Rule have to figure out how a girl like her and a guy like him are supposed to be together without destroying their love . . . or each other.

The first Marked Men novel in Jay Crownover's combustible New Adult series.

    The "Rule" of Relationships

See what I did there? Lol.

I enjoyed this book and could not put it down for the past three days. If I did not have to work, I would have read it all 284 pages within 24 hours. The story was meaty - not too boring, not too slow, not too long and I felt that the characters were really developed in the story and it was enough to end the tale without any questions. The pace of the story was really great and I enjoyed ALL the characters and the scenarios that happened.

There was enough suspense, angst, heartache, laughter, confusion, love, and intimate moments that can get any woman all "hot & bothered" lol. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone and I absolutely think the guy on this cover is what I pictured Rule to look like on his "normal days", hehe.

Rule - Body piercing and tattoo heaven!

A really good book. Main characters were well developed and very likable and along with their friends, they were a wonderful group to get to know.

The story had just enough angst, personal issues, sex and romance.

Definately glad it was finally available on Nook...and worth the wait. Can't wait to read about Rule and Shaw's friends, Ayden and Jet.

    Finally

Waited & waited for this to be released on nook!!!!! It wasn't my favorite book ever, but I liked the story of rule & shaw. This was a slightly more "realistic" story line, so it seemed less intense. I am looking forward to the rest of the series and will definately read the next two.

    Rating: House
I have to admit I have been debating on reading this book for several months now, when it was first published Jay Crownover was ripped to shreds for the lack of editing, but there seemed to be a story there. The cover of a shy looking, tattooed bad boy, and the main character named Rule Archer, had me coming back to this book when I searched for a new read, so I decided to see what this book was about. Now, I will say the editing is not perfect, there are still some flaws, the biggest for me was the text message conversations between some the of characters, it was hard to decipher who was saying what, it took a couple of reread to sort it out, as the text messages where one long paragraph.
The story line is not a new concept in the world of tattooed bad boys, disapproving parents: check, beautiful sexy virgin trying to save him: check, break up because he does not feel good enough for the beautiful girl who loves him for who he is: check.
What I did like about this story is that it goes into depth about the disapproving parents and the grief due to the death of his twin brother that has divided his family. The guilt and blame placed on Rule by his mother was horrific. The hatred she had for him broke my heart. Rule and Shaw were both such broken character, suffering the loss of a brother and best friend, whose parents found their existence an inconvience, it was impossible not to care about them as indiviuals and as a couple.

Rule and Shaw, if that doesn’t just sound like a sexy couple I don’t know what does. There are some very sweet, heart warming moments between them that made it worth the read. I did enjoy the book, and although I don’t feel like this book laid a foundation for the up coming story of Shaw’s best friend Ayden and Rule’s friend Jet, I will check it out. Jay Crownover had some difficulties with her début novel, but I do see a lot of potential and look forward to seeing where she goes from here.

It was ok. He was pretty disgusting at first, and I get the whole *reformed bad boy* thing, but geez. Also I had a little bit of a hard time with her being pre-med and getting tattoos on her neck?

    It had potential....

There is something to be said for allowing your readers to experience the character's thoughts and feelings by taking us on their journey with them.

However, this does NOT involve page after page of repetitive internal monologues. I ended up skimming through this to get back to actual character dialog.

Like I said - the books had serious potential... but the writing needs to mature a bit, I think. If you feel the need to explain what the character is thinking or feeling over and over again... you're doing it wrong.

    Strange, just...strange

This is a very weird story about two people who should NEVER have come together. Just strange and trashy.

    BREATHTAKING!!!

I loved, loved, loved this book. I definitely has everything I ever wanted in a story. Love, hate, laughter, lots of tears, friendship, family, suspence, surprise, intence sexual chemisty, and really hot sex. The characters in this story are amazing. I had been putting off reading this book for a long time, but decided it was finally time to give it a try, and OH MY GOODNESS! I definitely found a new author in J. The way the characters are described and you get to know each one individually made this story that much more wonderful. I recommend this book to everyone. If your looking for a really HOT leading man who gives tatoo'd bad boy the name it deserves, and the sweet innocent girl next door who secretly wants to let her freak flag fly. Then you need to read this book.

    Awful

No wonder this book was cheap!!! I think books should have ratings like movies. I read 5 pages and deleted it.......casual sex, booze, and language.....TRASH!!!! The only reason I gave 1 star is to post this. It deserved 0!!!
