In Morgan’s third Snowberry Creek contemporary (after More Than a Touch), a soldier’s homecoming is less than welcoming. Spencer Lang went missing in Afghanistan and was presumed dead. When he returns to Snowberry Creek, he’s devastated to learn that his fellow soldier Nick is marrying Spence’s best friend, Callie. Melanie Wolfe rescues Spence from a night of self-destruction and offers him a place to stay and temporary employment as she struggles to keep her family business afloat. Though Melanie knows that Spence will likely leave town after reconciling with his military buddies, she can’t resist her attraction to her former high school crush and his wounded soul. Melanie’s shy, yet confident personality is the perfect match for Spence’s tough and tortured nature, and the sweet, sensual romance between Melanie and Spence is refreshing and believable without graphic eroticism. Readers will fall in love with the characters and their idyllic town in the Cascade Mountains. (May)

Everyone thinks soldier Spencer Lang died in action, so when he comes home the day his best friend is marrying the girl of his dreams, things get complicated. After high school, Spencer joined the Army to escape his brutal uncle and find his way in the world, but he always expected to come back to Snowberry Creek and marry his old friend Callie. All his plans are shot to pieces, though, when he and his unit are attacked in Afghanistan and he's mistaken for dead. Rescued after his friends were evacuated, none of them got the news that he's alive, and they've been grieving his loss while he's been recovering. Turns out his Army buddies came to Snowberry Creek to break the news to his loved ones and fell in love with the town—and some of its residents—which makes it even harder for Spencer to settle back in. Support and encouragement comes from Melanie Wolfe, daughter of the family who owns the local factory. Trouble is, the recently deceased Mr. Wolfe practically ran the place into the ground, and Melanie is trying to turn it around. Melanie left town after high school, too, with no plans to ever return, but she always remembered the roguish bad boy who'd never looked twice at her back then, when she was the prim and proper Wolfe daughter. Now she's back, determined to save the factory and help the boy she used to like, who's now a man with shadows in his eyes. In the third Snowberry Creek novel, two unlikely hearts wind up on a shared path to healing, and we are charmed by their growing realization that they are just what the other one needs to be happy. Smooth storytelling and engaging secondary characters enhance a satisfying romance.Morgan maintains her winning combination of small-town tenderness and sexy, wounded heroes.

I don't normally read straight contemporary romance, but I am a huge fan of Alexis Morgan's Paranormal
series. So I was really excited to get the chance to read something different from her.
With that said there is nothing in the book, this story that I did not love!   From the main characters Mel
and Spence and the awesome dog Mooch, to the supporting players.  I found myself wanting to visit
Snowberry Creek and meeting everyone.  This is a story about finding ones self and finding true love
along the way.  You can't go wrong reading Alexis Morgan's  A Reason to Love.

A soldier assumed dead is returned home to see his own tombstone. The pieces of his life are shattered. If you've ever known a returning solder it isn't easy to move forward.
As I read this, I see of lot of issues my brother a father of a boy I taught dealt with.
There are three soldiers from the same unit with issues to face and rebuild their lives.
Melanie has to deal with the death of her father, her Mother's grief, and trying to keep a company going.
Both the soldier, Spencer, and Melanie find healing and more helping each other deal with their problems.
Warning - I hope you can read around the cuss words to enjoy a great story.
Living in a rural town, I can relate to community support.
A very emotional book. I would recommend to all who know a returning warrior.

A REASON TO LOVE by Alexis Morgan

    A solid 4 to 4 1/2 stars.
I just finished A REASON TO LOVE and will be making further visits to Snowberry Creek.  Alexis Morgan
has a good feel for small towns, neighbors, friends, and current military vets.  Her characters feel real
and are facing situations any of us could or are facing.  I like the natural feel to the relationships and the
conversations.  One warning for those offended by profanity.  The F-bomb is dropped frequently among
other things.  I don't particularly care for it, but the language she uses is true to the times and the
characters.  It won't prevent me from reading the rest of her books.  She deals well with some of the
issues of returning vets and the people who love and deal with them.

Overall, a good, enjoyable read with characters you will be glad you met.  I will be looking for the earlier
books in the series so I can get to know them better.

This is a great addition to the Snowberry Creek series. Spence comes back to his hometown after being declared dead...the scene of him standing over his headstone is heartrending. While this can be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend reading the earlier books to meet all the characters and learn their stories.

Wow! I did not see this one coming. Alexis Morgan surprised me big time in chapter one of A Reason to Love. On the way to the wedding of Nick and Callie, Melanie Wolfe meets up with the boy she had a crush on in high school. Melanie is back in Snowberry Creek to take over the family’s failing business after her father’s sudden heart attack and death. The boy she had a crush on was the wild, bad boy of the town while Melanie was the daughter of the most powerful family in Snowberry Creek for generations. Melanie was not allowed to socialize with him. With her mother out of town indefinitely, now is Melanie’s chance to finally get to know this boy, now a man, she saw so much of at Callie’s house during high school. Although this book is about a veteran returned home and he does have some anger issues, the book doesn’t stress the issues as much as the other two in the series. I recommend all three books (plus the novella) in this series. They have been great fun to read. I get my happily-ever-after and the biggest surprise of the series in A Reason to Love.

The synopsis says it all. This is a story of the struggles two people face having to find their own way after devastating losses and end up finding solace, and so much more, in each other’s arms. It is a beautiful story of healing, friendship and love.

I really enjoyed the story. Spencer and Melanie are great together and I think the fact that they grew up together helped cement their relationship. I also loved Spencer, Nick and Leif’s scenes where too much testosterone mixed with too much pride equaled some pretty interesting “discussions.” I also enjoyed revisiting previous couples and seeing their progress. I’m curious who the next book will be about, the Chief of Police Gage Logan perhaps? I’d love to see the sexy widower/dad/cop find love again.

Another heart-warming read from Alexis Morgan.

***I was gifted a paperback ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***

A Reason to Love by Alexis Morgan is the 3rd book in her Snowberry Creek series. This is my first book in this series, and it read very well as a standalone. I have read other books by Morgan, and I wasn’t surprised me how much I enjoyed this book, as she is a wonderful writer.

Our heroine is Melanie Wolfe, who came back home after her father’s death, to try to save the family business. Melanie is alone in this, as her mother refuses to believe that the company was in dire straits, and doesn’t believe Melanie when she tells her. So Melanie works alone to try to resurrect the company. On the day she is attending a wedding, she goes to the cemetery to quietly lament to her dead father why he let everything go bad. It is there that Melanie sees a soldier looking over another grave. She sees he is agitated, and goes to offer her support. To her disbelief, the soldier is Spence Lang, a friend from her high school days, who was thought to be dead, from explosion in Afghanistan.

Once they reach the wedding, Spence loses his temper, as he sees his best friend marrying one of his soldier friends. The others of course are shocked, but Spence feels betrayed, not really looking at reality. He storms away. Melanie decides to follow him to make sure he doesn’t do anything foolish, and she ends up not going to the reception.

This is a wonderful story of a soldier who comes home emotionally a wreck, and unable to control his temper. While he ignored all his family and friends, who love him, it is Melanie who will be there for Spence. In a situation that is unlikely for a romance, it was a beautiful story how they bonded to help each other. I also loved Mooch, the dog who Spence had saved in Afghanistan, who was adopted by his friends when they thought he was dead. Morgan has created some wonderful secondary characters, such as Callie, Sarge, and Leif.

Alexis Morgan pulls a lot of emotions from us, as we watch Spence and Melanie fall in love. We watch how a confused & tormented Spence must come to terms with his life, and if he wants to remain in town with all his old memories, not to mention friends. Will Spence give up on a chance of a new life with Melanie? Will Melanie find a way to save her family business? Will Spence open his heart to his close friends again? If you love a story of small town, friends, family, a dog, and a beautiful romance that started as friends; as well as an emotional roller coaster of a ride throughout. Then A Reason to Love is perfect for you.

A Reason To Love is a wonderful book. After a few pages it pulls you into the book. You can't put the book down. I love the book. It is about a soldier coming back home and his 2 best friends. Their friendship is wonderful to see. They are closer than brothers. You cry and laugh with them. It is a must read book. Don't miss the book. Alexis Morgan is a wonderful writer. I have read her books for years and love everyone of them. This book is a series. The first 2 books are just as wonderful to read as this one is. Pick up the book to day.

First I want to thank the author for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for my review. This book was entertaining and more sensual than A Time For Home. It is definitely not a stand alone book as it starts with Spence showing up in Snowberry Creek on the day of Callie and Nick's wedding. If you haven't read A Time For Home first you are at a definite disadvantage.

I thought that Melanie was a very likeable heroine. She has been born into wealth but is not a snob, she genuinely cares about the people around her and is not afraid of the challenges facing her. Spence on the other hand really annoyed me with the way he avoided the people who cared for him, procrastinating about the legal problems his return caused for those who cared for him, and his continual waffling about staying in Snowberry Creek.
I felt that the whole story left me asking more questions than it answered. Why was Spence's PTSD barely mentioned in this book? This man was a POW and the fact that he has nightmares was mentioned only twice. Why didn't Spence verify that Nick and Leif were dead (easily done with today's technology) and then contact them sooner? Why was there no resolution between Spence and his cousin Austin? I hope this is not the end of the Snowberry Creek veterans as I feel there are too many threads hanging and I also want to know what happens to Gage, the sheriff. I definitely feel that he has a story to be told.

    A wonderful story

How would you feel if the man you thought was dead came back to life. That's what happens when Melanie Wolfe sees Spence at the cemetery. This is a story about Spence who comes home to find out that his friends, Nick and Leif, and his girl Callie have moved on thinking that he is dead. He feels that they have betrayed him and harbors a lot of rage.
It's also about a woman, Melanie Wolfe, who is facing her own anger at her father who left his company in dire straights and her mother for making her face all the family problems alone.
Together they try to sort out their lives and find peace and acceptance within themselves and in the process find each other.
I enjoy Alexis Morgan and would recommend her to anyone who enjoys real life topics.

Received the book for review yesterday. Picked the book up as I was going to bed and thought the I would read a few pages and get some sleep. Best laid plans and all that as I kept turning the pages and it got later and later. Finally finished the book at 2:30 a.m. with a satisfied soul. Loved the book, mooch made me smile and Spence made me cry. What more can you ask for in a book. Characters are well written and am looking forward to next in the series. But now I have to go back and order what I have missed. This is one you won't regret picking up but unless your a night owl don't start at bedtime.
