From Barnes & Noble

Style setting is what Alexa Chung does. The model/Fuse News co-host not only won the British Style Award in 2011, 2012, and 2013; he also frequently graces the covers of Vogue, Elle, and Harper Bizarre. Her apparently flawless fashion sense has made her a favorite of designers on both sides of the Atlantic and her "What I'm Wearing Today" photo blog has become a designated stop for her growing army of admirers. In It, she raids her desk and laptop to give us a distinctive collage of words, drawings, and photographs on all things Alexa; from clothing choices to random thoughts on life, music, and love. Charming, just as we expected. Now in trade paperback.

Publishers Weekly

Fashion muse, model, Fuse News cohost, and British “it girl” Chung’s first book is heavy on style and charm but light on substance. She brings would-be admirers (and current fans who follow her on street style blogs and social media) into her world with this combined style guide, memoir, and scrapbook. Filled with doodles, personal photos, lists, and discussions of her sources of inspiration, Chung lightly sketches a portrait of her universe in an engaging voice. The majority of the book is given to random musings about fashion, with Chung naming Annie Hall, Gwyneth Paltrow in the The Royal Tenenbaums, and Edie Sedgwick as just a few of her influences. Of Paltrow’s portrayal of Margot Tenenbaum, Chung muses, “I love her side-parted bob and preppy Lacoste dresses.” Elsewhere in the book, Chung offers odd pronouncements, such as, “How to rage: Get a balloon and a best friend. Go to a festival in a desert. Be 24.” Die-hard fans will no doubt embrace this slim, whimsical offering, or delight in receiving it as a gift. 149 photos, 17 illus. Agent: Paul Stevens, Independent Talent. (Nov.)

It by Alexa Chung

There are five items in my wardrobe I cannot live without. The cornerstones I rely upon to make newer, weirder clothing look OK. Without them I would be lost.

My relationship with my denim hotpants is incredibly special. I pack them in my hand luggage when I travel because I fear that one day we will be separated and I will be forced to go out bottomless forevermore because no other shorts will ever be able to replace them. Since the day I found them lurking in a Brixton charity shop we have become so inseparable that even when I take them off they still retain the shape of my bum as they lie on my bedroom floor. I use them to dress down a flashy top, as a practical alternative to muddy trousers at festivals, and over the years have cut them shorter and shorter so that they are now borderline obscene (they keep getting cheekier). Until the denim disintegrates and falls off me, these particular hotpants are here to stay. A navy blue jumper is potentially the most boring item anyone could design and yet it’s my most important possession. The one I own belongs to an ex-boyfriend, and before shops caught on and made ‘boyfriend-fit jeans’ and ‘boyfriend sweaters’ everyone was happily throwing on their actual boyfriend’s belongings to keep warm. I have never travelled without it and it has rescued me from many mornings of outfit panic. Once when I was heartbroken a male friend of mine sent me his navy cashmere jumper to wear as a perpetual hug to cheer me up. It worked. My Burberry trench coat is something I saved up for a long time to buy. When I wear it I feel like a French detective from the sixties. Yet I love how quintessentially British it is, in that it’s practical yet proper. It was either this or a cagoule. I think I made the right choice. Every woman needs s a transportable receptacle to shove her collection of clutter into, and as much as I love some It Bag arm candy I am just as happy to pile everything into a canvas tote. Sometimes I wish I could live like a man and fit everything I need into a single back pocket but that’s never going to happen and besides, then I would lose out on the daily drama that occurs when I think I’ve lost something and have to tip the contents of my bag out only to discover my phone is in my hand. I think a canvas tote bag is as classic as a Chanel 2.55 and the bonus is you can shove it in a washing machine without having a mental breakdown. I thought I could narrow it down to five items I couldn’t live without but I can’t, so: ankle boots because you can wear them with literally anything. A pair of Wayfarer sunglasses—wear at night to seem extra aloof. Ballet flats—I can’t dance but that doesn’t stop me from trying. Dungarees—it’s fine that only toddlers and me like these. A white shirt—a no-brainer.

I love how there is a lot of drawings and pictures in the book, almost like a short story. I'm a big fan of Alexa Chung and reading this book was worth it.

Alexa Chung wrote this book for young girls (her fans). It is neither a formal biography nor a book of great stories.
Chung wrote this book as if it were her diary --filled with doodles and pictures.
She doesn't focus on her life story, instead shows the reader her witty and funny side.
She doesn't take herself too seriously in this book; therefore, shows she's just like everyone: trying to live life and have fun.
You can tell she had fun writing/making this book.

If you are a fan of Alexa Chung, I would definitely recommend it. You will like/love her even more than you do now.
Also, if you're at a loss for inspiration, you can simply check back to the book for some magic

If you are a grown and mature adult, have no idea who Alexa Chung is, and does not keep up with the current fashion,
then move along and continue reading Bukowski.
