Overview

Way too young, eleven year old Tucker Creed and his six year old neighbor, Sylvie Bissenette, find they have something awful in common. Creed then decides he's going to do everything in his limited power to shield his Sylvie from her ordeal. So he does, and Creed and Sylvie form a bond that grows and blossoms with their ages.
They plot to leave their lives behind. The town they live in that will hold them down and the histories they share that, unless they break free, will bury them. Sylvie goes to their special place, Creed never shows and she doesn't see him again until it's too late.
With Creed gone, Sylvie is forced to endure a nightmare and do the unspeakable to end it. To deal, she develops a hard shell with sharp edges that very few can break through. When Creed again finds his Sylvie, he discovers the girl he loved is locked away and he has to find his way back into her heart without getting shredded in the process.

Meet the Author

Kristen Ashley grew up in Indiana, but has lived in Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least), but loopy is good when you want to write. Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).
Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up. And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

There are lots of ways I really loved this book and if you like this writer you will like this book. It is a bit dark but it is also tender.

There are some issues with character motivation that make it less successful for me than others by this writer but that said I really
enjoyed it anyway. Stayed up too late to finish it.

Felt like Knight was cheating on Anya and Sylvie on Creed, what was with the " bottom of my soul comments" to each other? For some reason it botherd me as I read this book!! Now I wish I didn't.

    Unfinished...

This is part of the author's Unfinished Hero series, but this book is part of my Unfinished Reading list.

So dumb. I hated Sylvie. I hated Knight in this book. I was okay with Creed, though, he was more of a pushover than her usual badasses.

    Unbelievable plot.

    Highly, highly recommended

Book 2 in Kristen Ashley's series is another winner. Tough bad boy with a heart of gold and a love that has lasted a lifetime. Sylvie is a tough chick who has been through tough times as well. It was another riveting story from Kristen Ashley. By the end of the book you love the characters and feel like you know them. It was another can't put down book. Book 3 is out as well, Raid. The magic continues.....

    Too much

Honestly I felt it was nothing but f this and sh*t that and both main characters in normall life would be considered white trash. Pretty much porn.

    Not what I had hoped

There were times this book was great, but other times when it drug on and on and on. It was almost as if the author intentionally drug out a plot turn just to heve an extra 50 pages. A lot of the story line seemed like a repeat of what had occured in a previous chapter. I love the characters, i just wish the story didn't feel so drawn out.

I loved this book as much as Knight. At last, a strong female who doesn't give in easily to a strong male. Loved this heroine and hero. I was hopeing that in this book Knight would marry Anya. That has been the only disappointment in this series. If you havent read the first book, you should before this one. Keep up the good work KA. You are my top 5. Your sequence books are not cookie cutter. Love your writing.

    Touching story

At times due to life circumstances this was a tough read. It was worth the time to get to know Creed and Sylvia along with her neighbor. Another hit in this series.

    Disappointed...

Sadly not one of my fave books. It seemed like KA wrote the past day parts of a young Creed and Sylvie but someone else wrote present day. Story line was weak. Could have been great but was weak. I loved Creed & Sylvie as a couple but a plot or story would have been nice.

I really enjoyed this book. I, unlike one of the other reviewers, did NOT think it was too long. How refreshing to pay for a book that is more than 200 pages.

    Not one of my favorites

I usually like KA's books but I didnt care for this one and disliked the female character and thought the characters were more in lust than love. I think I liked the ex wifes character more. I really wasnt rooting for this couple.
