Another five star read for me from Roni and this time I really, really mean it.
There are some themes in this book that remind me so much of my upbringing. My parents are deeply religious, so I understand Tessa’s past, both with her foster parents (expected to be the good girl, told what good girls do and don’t do) and with her ex-husband Doug, a preacher who is expected to uphold a certain standard but is diddling everything on two legs in the background. Having grown up in the church with a front row view of what really happens once the Pastor says Amen, I was engrossed in Roni’s interpretation of being embroiled in something sinister and nasty. And those two words exactly describe Doug, a man who is pilfering from a charity and his congregation but wanting Tessa to fall on her sword so he doesn't have to pay the consequences.
I could also really relate with Kaden–not the suave, debonair business man Kade, but Kaden– the outcast, the stutterer, but the smart kid that every one leaned on to keep their grades up so they could remain on their various sports teams or stay in the parent’s good graces. I remember being that girl that was smart so I was asked for help at every turn, but never asked to the parties or get-togethers. No one knew about the crushes I had on various boys… no one paid attention to me until they needed something from me. And then tossed me away into the pile of people only midly necessary for comfort of life. So yes, I understood Kade, at the core.
When Kade and Tessa reconnect many years later,they’re both so different that they don’t recognize each other. Tessa doesn't recognize Kade since he’s all grown up and using a different name. She doesn't know it’s him, the stuttering kid that tried to compete for her with Doug… until he confronts her with their past and gives her the chance to go back to a time when life was as simple as really liking a guy and not being able to do anything about it.
Kade has his own secrets and problems. His nasty divorce and kinky lifestyle brought problems for him, one of which is that he doesn't have custody of his daughter and isn't allowed to see her. His “deviant” behavior might rub off on her, so she’s not even allowed in his home. When Doug crashes his way back into Tessa’s life, he uses Kade’s situation to lure her back to Atlanta. By this point she has been introduced to life as a Submissive and her teacher, Kade, is showing her what life can be like when you own your desires and fantasies and are open to a life of more than boring, vanilla, missionary sex.
Tessa has a plan, though. And with Kade’s help, they’ll bring Doug to his knees. Almost literally.
I feel like this book went so far, so deep into the psychology of need, both Tessa’s and Kade’s. Lots of introspective, thoughtful dialog in this book and it seems like a lot less sex? Well, maybe I’m just getting used to the kink. ;)
I continue to be really pleased with how the Ranch is used for pleasure, for games, for erotic enhancement and not as something mean or punishing. Everyone involved is consenting and everything that happens, happens because it is wanted. I've tried reading other BDSM themed novels and there’s so much sadism, mean spirited sex. Doesn't sound pleasurable or enjoyable and there’s no delight in reading it. There is no care, no love, no need to protect and please. Roni’s approach to Dominance/submission and BDSM makes all the difference.
Plus, I always get a chuckle or two in each chapter because she’s actually a very funny person.
Can’t wait for the next book!

Kade is a character who has appealed to me since he was first introduced, so when I heard he was getting his own book, I was MAD excited. It was everything I was hoping it would be and I loved it so much. Kade and Tessa are perfect together.
Need You Tonight was magical - it alternated between the present day and the past, and readers get to see Tessa and Kade fall in love not once, but twice. While their past was sweet and a bit awkward at times, the present day pair is extreme chemistry and hot moments.
Roni Loren really tugs on readers heart strings with this addition to the Loving on the Edge series. With both Tessa and Kade, there are some horrible moments in their past, yet they work through them together.
Tessa and Kade's relationship was a refresher - they both are honest and real with one another. Beyond that, I loved that they are both such fighters; they aren't happy to just settle.
The characters in this series are some of my all time favorites, and Need You Tonight was a real treat since there were appearances from quite a few other characters who I became rather attached to in past books.
This one is pretty near the top of my favorite Roni Loren book list (though I think Caught Up In You still takes the #1 slot). I am beyond eager for the next book, since I feel like with every book I become more and more attached to the characters, and am mad excited for Colby to get his story next. There are few authors I can as highly recommend as I would Roni Loren.

This book was so good that I hated to see it end.
The author made these characters so real and the story so engrossing that I wanted it to go on and on. This book was hot, sexy and romantic but the best part of all was the story. This book made you feel for both Kade and Tessa, and to really understand the reasons behind decisions they made. I highly recommend this book.

I liked most of the previous books in this series, but this one was really bad. I got the feeling that the author was running out of ideas and tried to take the BDSM theme up a notch to stand out. To do so, she ended up with a heroine who is no heroine at all and puts back women's rights back two centuries. The guy started like a hero but half way into the book turned into a sadist. Most sex scenes were gratuitous, unrelatable, and cheap, if not disturbing. Add to that the long paragraphs of redundant thoughts from the characters that were so boring I had to skim through pages at a time. Like I said, really bad. I am done with this series.

Contessa is that most pitiable of women: The trophy wife who discovers her world is a sham. It is no spoiler as the book opens with Tessa discovering her husband, in flagrante delicto, with her best friend. On the kitchen counter. Her ordered, wealthy, prominent life changes in that instant, but her determination to put her cheating husband and her past behind her, to make it on her own - despite her husband's callously cruel verbal denigration - is stalled because hubby will not let her go. But she's a fighter, and has been since she was abandoned to the foster system by her mother. She's clawed her way up to a real life, and respectability and she can do it again. She might be satisfied staying removed from the dating and relationship scene, despite her best friend's misguided efforts to get her back into the swing of things - even if it is just for sex - but then she meets Kade Vandergriff. He's a man who won't take no for an answer, including in the bedroom. He's also a man who likes his sex no holds barred and frequents a BDSM club to satisfy those hungers. In Tessa? He may have found a woman who can scale that wall he has built around his heart. And he wants to try - despite the secret about his identity that may be the thing to drive Tessa away. Kade's tormented past - with Tessa - is brutal, and heart-wrenching. And his tormenter is the third in this tempestuous trio and possibly the one to bring not only Kade down, but Tessa as well. This was a scorching romance, with incredibly rendered BDSM sexual scenes that grabbed me right down to my, er, toes. Kade was a towering figure of both strength and sorrow, yet no revelation detracts from his alpha-male standing. Tessa is wounded, but a fighter. And her willingness to subject herself to further humiliation and possibly worse, at the hands of her ex husband, both for the children's cause she so believes in, but also for Kade's protection, is gripping and powerful. The romance is knife-edged and you will find yourself holding your breath as the lovers are forced to meet the danger head-on. Combustible sex, thoughtful and sympathetic lovers, terrific backgrounds and secondary characters, and enough suspense to keep this story humming along, and to keep readers flipping those pages. It was a "single day read" for me and Roni Loren is now a go-to keeper author of erotic romance for this bibliomaniac.

I was NOT expecting to get such a soft, gooey center at the heart of Kade Vandergriff, but as usual, Roni Loren both surprised me, and exceeded my expectations for his story. And even better, we got a first hand look at the relevant pieces of his past, rather than a short summary via dialogue. Basically, this book was great, and Roni Loren continues to blow me away with her amazing, sexy, love stories.

I fell in love with this whole series but got pretty upset when the pages on the Nook messed up at the end of a couple of the books and I had to skip some. But I really fell in love with all the characters from each group and hope there is more coming....Thanks to Roni Loren for wonderful entertainment and books that made the "Never get rid of" list!

Fans of the author are quick to say that she has a great grasp of what makes an erotic romance, erotic. She seems to get what readers need from this sort of book. This book includes elements of the BDSM lifestyle, but does not overwhelm the reader. A slow build up and tons of emotion make this a must read for erotic romance fans. With a second chance romance theme and some very well developed characters, Need You Tonight is sure to be one Loren's most successful books.
What I liked:
With a Roni Loren book, readers always know what they are getting, if not what to expect. Her books are very original and don't fit the mold of a typical erotic romance. Her character development is definitely one of her strong skills. Loren makes you care about her characters and want to know more about them. She draws the reader in with an interesting theme and then holds them characters that are easy to relate to and understand.
In Need You Tonight there were several things that I really liked. A second chance romance is always one of my favorite themes, but this one takes that idea to even greater heights. These two characters have a past that they don't even realize exists when they are first reintroduced to each other. And they are so very different from how they were when they knew each other in the past, that the whole relationship is new and different. I liked that idea and thought Loren was able to flash back and forth from the past and present and make great parallels to the story. I loved the flow of the book and how this whole idea worked.
I also really enjoyed the idea that Tessa is finally coming into her own. She was a foster kid, who couldn't seem to catch a break. She married her high school sweetheart for security and not love and now that they are getting a divorce she is ready to make some changes in her life. I liked that Loren made Tessa strong and ready for change, to reinvent herself and become the woman she was always meant to be. She starts a charity, she gets her degree, she explores her own wants and needs in the bedroom and meeting Kade really reinforces her sense of independence and her mindset to get the life she wants, with who she wants.
Kade was a great character as well. He has already gone through the same kind of change that Tessa is now experiencing and he can help her along the way with more than just her bedroom exploration. He was the awkward kid in high school that stuttered and never made a good impression. But now things are very different. He is a suave and handsome business man. I loved the fact that Loren didn't make him pretentious and standoffish. He is easy to like for Tessa and the reader.
The BDSM elements of this story are written in such a way that they almost seem natural. Almost being the operative word. Loren always makes it exciting, but she doesn't beat the reader over the head with it. She shows the lifestyle as one of trust and complete acceptance of each partner and what they need in their lives inside and outside the bedroom. That's the difference between Loren's books and the rest of the crowd. She understands the nuances of a real adult relationship based on trust. It's hard to find, but if you can find it, you'll never be the same.

Oh my heart! I’ve been a little in love with Kade for a while and I was anxious to see what the author would do with his book. And you know when you are so invested in that particular character that you get a little scared? Well, I was scared to read this and that it wouldn’t be what I anticipated.
And guess what? It wasn’t. And I say that in the BEST sense of that word. Kade’s story was night and day what I thought we would get but it was so perfect FOR HIM. Everything about him made sense. I loved that this book brings back Kade’s first love. And I absolutely loved how the author told the story. It goes back and forth between present day and high school days and it slowly tells both stories. The developing connection between Kade and Tessa now was explosive and intense. But the connection they had as teenagers was just as powerful. It was the perfect complement to the story!
But Kade and Tessa’s past wasn’t always roses and pretty pink bows. This was a pretty heartbreaking story. I did not expect this at all for Kade, the confident Dom that I’ve always drooled over. Knowing where he came from and what he overcame only makes me see him as a stronger man and look up to him that much more.
I seem to repeat myself when it comes to talking about this series but every installment is either just as good or better than the last.It never disappoints! Five books in and a few novellas and this series is still going as strong as ever! If you’re not reading Roni Loren you must change that now.

A MUST READ. SEXY, HOT, ROMANTIC
This is a must read book for those who like a sexy, hot, romantic book that has a cast of characters that are complex and real to life. I enjoyed the entire book from page one to the very end. .

This is a much darker story than the others. I knew from the beginning Kade would be different. I love Roni's books and her writing. I didn't know how I was going to feel about Kade and Tessa's story. I had my doubts because Kade is a much more intense and darker guy in his dominance. But I can safely say that I enjoyed this book.
I didn't know what to make of Tessa since they had a history as teenagers and it didn't end well. I felt terrible for Kade and what he went through. He was bullied and humiliated in the worst possible way. I felt that what Doug did to Tessa she sort of deserved it for not standing up for Kade in the past. But I felt bad for her as well. I really liked her in the present and who she turned out to be. She and Kade were great together.
It was amazing to see how he eased her into his world and brought out the submissive that lay dormant inside of her. He eased her into things slowly and didn't just go for the hardcore stuff from the very beginning.
My only complain would be that I would've have like to have seen more of Kade and his daughter together.
I've got to say I was a very happy girl because there's some Jace in this book. He makes a bigger cameo in this one than in the others.
I highly recommend this book. Each book in the series can be read as a stand alone.
Kade and Tessa has a history together. Back in high school Kade was Tessa’s tutor as well as her boyfriend/ex-husbands butt of all jokes. He was not popular by a long shot and in no way looks like the man he is today. The two of them fell for each other but Tessa still wound up choosing her boyfriend/ex-husband over him. Fast forward to adulthood and you have two people who have unfinished business.
Kade’s been staring in other couples threesomes, so I was happy to see him get his own story. Like all characters of Roni’s, Kade and Tessa have somethings to overcome. Tessa was mentally abused by her ex-husband for the entirety of their marriage. Kade’s ex-wife does everything she can from him seeing his daughter. As it is, he only has visitations with her a few hours a month. One common enemy for them however is Tessa’s ex-husband. Who of course rears his ugly head from time to time throughout the story.
I really wanted to love this story since I’ve enjoyed all the LotE books I’ve read but this one fell flat for me. I don’t know why but I just didn’t connect with the story or the characters. Maybe it was the fact that history was repeating itself. Tessa wanted to be with Kade, but didn’t want anything serious and didn’t want to be scene out in public with him. Kade was a sap who was wound around her finger the moment he met her. I just didn’t get that dominance from him as I’d saw from not only other Doms of the story but from him in previous books as well.
Even though this story didn’t work for me, I will definitely be keeping up with the series. I guess you can’t love em all.
