The story is steamy but I am really getting disappointed with Ms. Day and selling 134 pgs for $5.64. As much as I like your writting I'm about done. I pre-ordered this with high hopes and once again I feel suckered into buying yet another short story. I like books over 300 pages. Good but too short of a read for the cost. :(

Sorry, I liked the preview, but no 134 page ebook should cost over $3.00.
Wish it was avoidable to purchase the entire book.

The book was way too short, and there was not a lot of depth to the characters in the beginning. She would jump around a lot and it was very confusing. I would not waste my time buying this book its not worth the money at all

I was very disappointed with this book. I didn't know it was a paranormal storyline and I don't read this kind of story. The book is short. May be writing Sylvia Day off my favorite authors list.

I have written this author off my list. The dubacle with Bared To You was bad. Now this dishonesty. Her readers should have been warned. This is a novella, barely.

I agree with many of the other reviewers. I have eliminated Ms. Day from my wish list for all unread, previously published and to be published material. She offers far to little substance for far too much money!

I refuse to buy incomplete books or pay too much for what couldnt even be considered a novella. Its like paying for a car without the engine or a house without a roof. I want my moneys worth.

Defiantly not one of her best works. I usually love Sylvia Day's writing, but this time I was really disappointed. The plot line was uninteresting, the protagonists where week and the writing was poor. If I could return this book I would.

All of the stories in Spellbound revolve around Max and Victoria, starting first with how they meet and then progressing through the next two years of their lives. I'm the kind of reader who likes to have related short stories packaged nice and neat together in one volume so I can read everything about the characters and get closure whenever possible. And that is precisely what we have with this collection, which includes the never-before-released Black Magic Woman.
I've read the Crossfire series Sylvia has written but had yet to read any of her paranormal offerings. I must say I liked the combination of the paranormal and erotic genre, and it worked very well with the relationship between Max and Victoria. They are both very dominant characters so I thought the power struggle between them was interesting and rather exciting. It seemed a little different at first that Victoria being a Familiar/shifter (cat) would be dominant, as in their world Familiars are usually submissive, but it did work for her personality and created the needed friction in her relationship with Max.
Like I eluded to before, the love scenes were off-the-charts in explicitness and sexy talk. The fact that in this story warlocks gain power through physical "bonding" with their mate gives way to lots and lots of naked time. Fans of erotica will probably agree that Sylvia Day is one of the go-to authors in this genre. And for good reason. I really felt the connection she created between Max and Victoria and thought they truly seemed like soul mates who would do anything to take care of their loved one.
I would recommend Spellbound if you're looking for a super sexy--and explicit--paranormal romance that will have you panting with every turn of the page.

Very good, like the rest of day's work. I didn't find it too short like others have. I thought the plot was covered, along with some really hot sex scenes. The unnessary filler put in by a lot of authors was left out.

I love Sylvia Day as an author, she is one of my favorites. This is the first time I have read a shifter book and I loved this one. It was full of erotic sex and romance with a great story line. In the past I haven't been particularly interested in shifter books. They seem too far out for me. But this book has totally changed my mind about the genre. I can't wait to check out more of Sylvia Day's shifter books.

Ms. Day strikes again. After feeling duped in regards to her so-called trilogy "Bared to you" which conveniently turned into five books now, I will not purchase anything else written by her on principle.

Hotness factor: 5 smokin’ hot sexy stars
Overall story: 3.5 stars
Okay, so this was a very different read for me. First off, the book was divided into three short stories taking place during different time frames. Secondly, I rarely read paranormal books although the few that I’ve read in the past I have loved. I can’t say I absolutely loved this book but I certainly didn’t dislike it either. It held my interest in that it was quite a unique tale.
Max Westin is a super-sexy, alpha-dominant warlock and Hunter. Victoria St. John is a Familiar (feline) gone feral. The magic world’s High Council assigned Max to tame the feral Familiar gone rogue while she sought revenge for the tragic death of her true love, Darius. Upon Darius’ death, he transferred his powers to Victoria making her the most powerful Familiar in existence.
Collaring with a warlock is generally standard for a Familiar, however, Victoria is fiercely independent and unwilling to be collared.
“Submission. She wasn’t suited to it. She was far too strong-willed, far too independent to bow to a man’s demands."
She is a mischievous kitty, frequently taunting the High Council and outsmarting the Hunters sent to tame her. Max’s task was to tame her for eventual pairing with another warlock or to eliminate her if necessary. Victoria proved to be quite a formidable adversary. The playboy warlock wasn’t at all prepared for the intense connection that surfaced between him and Victoria or how possessive and protective of her he would become.
“The bond between Familiar and warlock always began with this tiny thread of awareness. It was early, too early, for the connection to be there, but it was.”
This isn’t a deep emotional story but it was fun. The chemistry between Max & Victoria was intense and their fierce love for each other was unconditional. I love how Max handled the hard-to-tame Victoria. Smart, smart man!
“Loving that spirit in her, Max had been careful in his care of her since she’d become his, maintaining the firm hand Familiars thrived under, yet giving her enough room to continue to challenge him. It was a delicate balance, one that kept them both content.”
If you’re a fan of deliciously HOT paranormal ALPHA MALES, who thoroughly enjoy trying to tame their sassy female subs, then this story might be just the one for you. It is interesting and captivating but...I would have expected more.
Having enjoyed the "Crossfire series" by Sylvia Day, I was curious about the paranormal world in which she had decided to take her readers with her new story.
The beginning between the familiar, the wardlock and the hunter made ¿¿me think an episode of Supernatural. As I'm a fan of the Winchester brothers, I liked the mix of magic and hunter.
But I admit I was a little disappointed ... I found that the text had been mounted as if it were independent chapters, with a reminder of the previous adventures told at each new entry. It has plombed my reading a little!
The story is well written with sex scenes pretty well detailed ... Great... but now, I would have liked more development.
The plot deserved more answers to the "why" and "how" of the narrative. What about the council, the villains or Victoria's former lover? Am I the only to be curious?
A little more material would have been a plus to a texte full of clothes removed by magic.
There was the angle of the black magic, the takeover by Max, the possible rebellion ...
The potential to make this story a great paranormal romance was here...Instead, I got a fun story with super intense sex ...
It is interesting and captivating but...I would have expected more.
