This is a little different that the main character was a Amish guy. I liked reading it and was sad when I had finished reading it. I wanted more. Wanted to know what happens next in his life. I was interested in there lives, I cared about the characters. It is a clean book.

Jake Miller was a apprentice blacksmith. He was courting Amanda Shetler. He wanted to work on the side to help people with horse problems. He was living in a guest cottage and fixing it up for rent. He was laid back and happy with his life.

Priscilla Kinsinger has come back to her home. Her Mother died six years ago and she has not been back since. She loves the horses. Her family wants her to fit in and stay. So they asked Jake and Amanda to help her reconnect to those single in the area. She would rather be with the horses.

Amanda Shetler was determined to be a matchmaker for Priscilla and help her to meet the Amish community.

I loved hearing about their Amish lifestyle, working with the horses, how they both had to work through issues that affected them from years ago. Romance angle was lite. They shared scriptures to uplift and help each other through letters.

I would read more of the series the Men of Lancaster. The setting was Lancaster Amish settlement modern day.

 I am a huge fan of Mindy Starns Clark's books and Susan Meissne

 I am a huge fan of Mindy Starns Clark's books and Susan Meissner is a new author to me but the authors did not leave me feeling blue.   I quickly became caught up in Priscilla and Jake's story and I was rooting for Priscilla to open up and make friends with Jake and Amanda and the other Amish members of the community.  When Jake began to fall for Priscilla, I was silently begging her to open up and return his love.   I won't spoil the story for other readers however.  Readers will have to find out for themselves how the conflict is resolved.  5 Stars!  This book is a real winner!

Review: Enjoyed the majority of the book. I liked Jake and Priscilla, was never sold on Amanda. I did like all the secondary characters like Amos, Owen and the Kinsinger family along with the Miller family. Great sequel and yet a good stand alone book. The thing that I found slow was toward the end. A lot happened yet it seemed to move slower than the beginning and middle. Great ending with believable events throughout. Enjoyed the real faith that was included and scripture use. That was real nice to see slipped in the story with sincere warmth for the scripture picked and used.

The Amish Blacksmith is a different piece of Amish fiction to me because it tells the story through a male's eyes. I thought it was a pretty good story. There are times where my heart just ached for the characters but a wonderful way of learning of God's grace.
4 stars.

The Amish Blacksmith is a fascinating book. It's the first book I've read that the main character is the Amish man not the woman and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Mystery and romance are brought out in different ways and I thought the authors were excellent in tying together their storyline. I love there were so many characters and each one had their own unique personality. This book captured my interest from the beginning. The Amish Blacksmith is the second book of The Men of Lancaster County series and I highly recommend reading it.

I loved The Amish Blacksmith, I don’t know much about horses, but I really came to appreciate these magnificent creatures of God. I loved some of the in-depth descriptions of the different breeds, which I never knew. I also learned about the feelings, just like I’ve seen in my dogs.
As the back of the book describes some of what you are going to read in this book, we see a lot of this through the eyes of Jake Miller, the young blacksmith apprentice. He knew Priscilla as a little girl, and found her charming, but he knew of the terrible tragedy that happened when she lost her parents.
Now Priscilla is back for a visit, she has a serious decision to make, and will as she states be returning to Indiana. You can feel an attraction between Jake and Priscilla, but then there is Amanda whom Jake is courting. These are very different relationships, and Jake’s boss and Priscilla’s Uncle has asked him to help his niece by introducing her around in their community,
There are some heart wrenching discoveries that happen in this story, and made me just keep turning the pages. I loved visiting this Amish Community, and spending time with these people. I even enjoyed the visit into the English area, even if they were wealthy, though that made it even more interesting.
Above all even with adversity and not knowing you were hiding a lot of pain, they put their trust and faith in God to lead their lives. A really great read, from beginning to end.
