Dark Possession (Dark Series #18)

great read!!

This book renewed my interest in the series but is not a good starter book for someone new to the Carpathian world. I'm definitely looking forward to the continuation of "the plan" and I hope Ms. Feehan injects some more fresh blood into the series like Maryanne. She was great. Feehan changes things up in this installment, giving us a new species and an unusual danger to Manolito and Mary Ann. We are also introduced to characters that we've heard about through out the entire Dark series but never met.
All in all a great story, with lots of twists and turns, steamy sex and danger, plus we have some suprises with the jaguar race and Mary Ann's conversion as well.
Although this book is slightly different from Feehan's usual format, it was a nice change, just different enough to spice things up a bit and keep me interested. I love Christine Feehan's Carpathian world. The series is fabulous, the characters are wonderfully amusing. I can't wait for more of the series

FANTASTIC AND WONDERFUL!!!

I just finished this book and I have to say.. it is my favorite out of the whole series. I wasn't sure going into it knowing what Manolito did to MaryAnn in Dark Celebrations. I figured it would be kind of like what Rafael had done to Colby but it was nothing like that. Manolito is a kind, if not troubled man, who has more honor and strength than I imagined. New bloodlines are revealed and past Lifemates. Hints at future lifemates and a whole new ballgame for our couple. Things happen in this book that I had hoped and guessed and talked about with others. Wonderful things and scary things. The De La Cruz family is starting to quickly win favor in my eyes. Strong, noble and oh so yummy and there are still two of them left without lifemates. There is suspense, romance and love blended together with courage and instinct. Fantastic read and I couldn't put it down. I hope we don't have to wait another year for her next book, but this one was WELL worth the wait! Fantastic job Christine Feehan... your best work yet!

I Am Shocked!

I must say that this is the only book in the series that I found hard to read. I mean, don't get me wrong, I did read it and I did finish it, but I found myself putting the book down.
Manolito De La Cruz has problems of his own as he awakens deep within the soil after nearly being killed in the last book. Now he is haunted by the other world as he walks a thin line between two worlds. But his lifemate, Mary Ann, who knows nothing of him and the bond he made between the two, is what keeps him linked to this world.
Mary Ann is a very strong minded female. She is a city girl and finds that the De La Cruz brothers, who live in the jungle of South America, is totally out of her league and the life that she knew. But there is a reason why she ran to the busy city. Christine introduces another new race known as the werewolves, and Mary Ann begins a search for her true self while bringing Manolito back into this world.

I don't know what it was about this book, whether it was the characters themselves or the plot, but I just didn't like this one. It was a bummer when Christine had written such a beautiful one before this one. However, it is a part of the series and I did read it, so now I am more interested on what she will write for the next one.

I'm Loving #18...

How does the author do it? I thought this would be 'more of the same.' I couldn't be more wrong! This story picks up where #17 left off. MaryAnn goes to Brazil to help counsel Solange and Jasmine who have been living primarily in their cat forms. There is a twist with Manolito who is in a state of flux in what appears to be another kind of realm. And, just like that, I was hooked. I absolutely loved this book. There are so many fascinating things going on here including appearances from Vlad (Mikail's father, the former Carpathian ruler) and his life mate. But, you'll have to read it to see what I'm referring to. If you follow this series, I'm betting you'll love this one as much as I do. Enjoy!

Ugh! Waste of time :o/

Unfortunately, not worth the time it took to read. I was heavily disappointed in this story. The characters had ZERO CHEMISTRY. I was two-thirds of the way through when I realized that the story was beyond saving. Why did Feehan even finish this one? Definitely one for the trash pile. Save your money or spend it on different Feehan books. Good ones, with well written, interesting characters, are: Dark Prince, Dark Magic, Dark Legend, Dark Demon and Dark Fire, to name just a few.

Potential unmet

I've read the entire series and this book fell flat. There were exciting possiblities to explore with the introduction of werewolves, a jaguar male turned Carpathian, and experiencing the emotional turmoil of a lifemate when they think they've lost their other half. None of that was delved into here. Will this be explored in other books? Well two more books have been published and it has not been explored yet.

I thought this was an exciting opportunity to bring in some fresh ideas to this series and that opportunity was completely overlooked. I loved that a black woman, was a lifemate, but her story seemed to be writtin as something to get out of the way rather than truly savored and enjoyed for all of its differences from the other books in the series. This could have been the opportunity to revitalize the series, but instead was a stepping stone on a spiraling downward path for the series as a whole. Not the worst in the series by far, but only because the next couple of books are so awful.

If you're a fan of the series don't waste anymore of your time and stop with this book.

Christine's characters are so romantic it brings back the age of chivalry

Her books remind you of a time where love was forever, and loyalty, self sacrifice and honor were your only choices. Simply where men treasured and protected women (even when we didn't need protecting)who were strong in their own right.

Good... but not the best in the series

I love this series and anxiously await each new story. I was really looking forward to this one because I fell hard for the De La Cruz family in Dark Secret. I was a little disappointed though in the flow of this story. I was also disappointed in Mary Anne's charachter here compaired to her character in Dark Destiny. It didn't seem like the same woman. As usual though, I found the males to be sexy & compelling, loved how Ms. Feehan brings new & intrigueing ideas to her stories, & continues to keep us updated on the members of the Carpathian "family" both new & old. This is a good book and a must read of the series. I just don't recommend this particular book be a newcomers introduction to Chrisitne Feehan or the Dark Series.

Ok, I love the Dark Series, but this book and Dark Celebration are just both disappointing. I will not buy another Dark book in hardcover, it just wasn't worth it. What happened to MaryAnn,,,she was such a wonderful person in Dark Destiny, grounded, caring, compassionate, strong and forceful when she needed to be, but in this book she became a joke who was more concerned with her clothes than anything else, I mean come on, what happened? And you just couldn't connecet with the story here, it was flat, and the book was way too short. I haven't given up on my favorite author, but in the future I will wait for the paperback edition to come out before I purchase any more of the Dark Series. I just hope Christine goes back to her previous style of writing, with the characters rounded out and relating to one another on a visceral level and not a supreficial one.

Great read

This was a re-read. Enjoyed it just as much. Unfortunately I won't purchase any current books because there's too much chanting, I love the chatacters but all the chanting is distracting and takes away from the story.

I started the Dark series with this book not knowing of the previous books. Hard to follow and read. Suggest you start from the beginning of the series....MYS MAC

I loved this story of Mary Ann and Manolito. She is so out of her element in the rain forest. Love the introduction of the elusive Lycans.

Read it twice

I skimmed this book the first time, and did myself an injustice. I have read every Carpathian novel, and I loved the intro to the Lycans through MaryAnn! She is so real, and different from the other heroines, my other favs are Natalya and Ivory. I love how MaryAnn can use her powers to lay the smack down on her all powerful, oh so macho mate. I loved this novel, and the fact that she was not the traditional heroine racially makes me hopeful there will be more interracial love stories by Feehan!

Dark Possession

I can only say one thing about Dark Possession- infinitely different! I mean from all the other Carpathian books.I opened this novel expecting something similar to the other Dark books I had read and with a twist thrown in-always!But my expectations were blown out the water when I got deep in to the exotic rain forest,Christine introduces the Lycans and the jaguar people appear again.Now, I have never heard of the lycans in the dark novels and certainly not a female lycan,i'll try not to give anything away!!!!Maryann and Manolito get off to a bad start as all lifemate females realized upon meeting their dominating other half,LOLS ensue!MaryAnn is such a beautiful character not only in looks about inside.She is so observant of other's feelings and emotions sometimes unknowingly.She and Manolito sure made a hot power couple and as most readers know,De La Cruzs are the most dominant Carpathians,maybe all males are but the DLCs really push it!The plot line was slightly confusing at first when Manolito is trapped in the meadow of mists.Seeing Vlad and Sarantha made me feel so sad for Mikhail and Jacques but it was very heartwarming to meet them.The love scenes- ahh! Blushing like mad!!! were so steamy and sexy that reading it makes you blush but I love the way in which CF wrote and interpreted them so beautifully and romantically. Christine really knew how to introduce different parts of the story so thumbs up,up for that,C! Meeting Jasmine and Solange and being able to share the girly time with MaryAnn and them was sooo fun!!!!Loved the book and can't wait to read DARK PERIL-Solange's and Dominic's story.I think that finding someone who can care for Solange and help her get over her aversion of men will be a truly deep and beautiful book.For more DLC action,check my recommendations!!!!

Nice change from the series. I enjoyed the new species being introduced, it made the book a little different and fighting for the characters in a different way. I really enjoyed.

Feehan is amazing

I loved to read this book. I could not put it down. Which has been a constint thing when I read a book by Christine Feehan. She has yet to let me down with one of her books. I loved this books twists to it. I am so looking forward to her new books to come out.
