Chilled is the second book in Kendra Elliot's Bone Secrets seri

Chilled is the second book in Kendra Elliot's Bone Secrets series and in my opinion it was even better than the first!

Brynn Nealey is a forensic nurse who works with a team to perform dangerous search & rescue missions in the Cascade Mountains. Following the news of a plane crash the team prepares to set out to look for survivors, unfortunately the weather is against them. Alex Kinston is a former US Marsal that lies his way onto the team, he knows exactly who was on that plane and he wants to make sure that one of the passengers does not survive. The journey into the blizzard brings more dangers to light than expected, the team must face their own fears and overcome them if they hope to survive. Finding the crash site turns out to be the easy part, what they find when they get there could change all their lives forever.

This book takes place over a few short days in freezing temperatures, more than one team member has secrets and we do not uncover them all in this trip. I hope to see some of the characters in future novels so we can get to know them a little better. Brynn was a likeable heroine, her need to help others stems from an accident in her childhood that saw her lose her best friend. Alex's backstory was the one that kept me reading, his need to find the man that did him wrong and see justice being served has influenced his life and decisions for so long, I found myself willing him to get justice so he could get the closure he needs.

The story that followed brought lots of tension and once it got started there was lots of drama. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait for Buried!

"Chilled" is the second book in Kendra Elliot's Bone S

"Chilled" is the second book in Kendra Elliot's Bone Secrets Series and I seriously had a had time putting down this book while reading it.  I actually listened to this book as well whenever I could not read the book due to taking care of chores around the house.  I was determined to finish it, it was that good.

Brynn Nealey is a forensic nurse and she's about to make a trip into a very dangerous blizzard to find a plane crash and help out if there are survivors.  She's teamed up with several other searchers and one of them is former US marshal Alex Kinton, who has a plan of his own when he reaches the plane crash.  He has been tracking the plane and when he got word the plane never reached it's destination and he knew something was up.  He puts himself into the search party and he is determined to find one person on that plane and he's hoping the person did not survive.  If he did, then he has a reason to take revenge on what happened to his brother years ago.
Unfortunately, Alex is having a hard time keeping up with what he's supposed to do.  He's supposed to be using the search party for his advantage, but he is having a hard time keeping Brynn out of his head. He is starting to fall for the beautiful forensic nurse and he will do anything to protect her.
None of the other crew know what Alex is here for, and he wants to keep it that way.
While out during the blizzard, the search party will be thrown into chaos.  They will have to fight for their lives in the extreme weather and it will get even worst when they reach the plane crash because they have to protect themselves from the killer that survived the plane crash.
Alex is even more determined to find out why the plane went off course and who is helping the one person he wants dead.

Kendra Elliot gives us yet another thriller full of suspense, romance, and action.  One of the main reasons why I love Kendra Elliot and her writing style is she writes in several points of views.  She takes you into the head of a serial killer, as well as the one man determined to stop the serial killer.
I love how Kendra Elliot gives you two characters who out of dangerous circumstances become attached to each other.  Brynn was one of my favorite characters of the bunch because she did not let anything really bother her.  Even when she found out the truth of Alex, she knew there was a reason why he would do what he did.  She felt compelled to help him.
Alex was a strong character who was very lovable and I commended him for what he was trying to do in this book.  He just wanted to bring the killer to justice for what he did to his brother. He still felt it was his fault, his brother was killed.  I felt so much sympathy for Alex.  He definitely found a perfect partner to help him through what he went through and that was Brynn.

The secondary characters of the story were also very likable and I hope Kendra has a story for some of them.
The real story of the plane crash and how the plane went off course is the big doozy of the story.  You will be in shock like Alex was to find out who was actually helping the serial killer escape.

I give this book 5 full moons and highly recommend it to romantic suspense readers out there.
Be prepared to bundle up and take a trip through a very cold blizzard with the characters to track down one plane crash that could lead them into trying to survive not only due to the weather, but due to one person intent to kill them if they do not let him escape.  He's one killer who also wants to put one certain character in his place.

A plane crash.  A search team.  A murder on the loose.

This was a great suspense romance. From the beginning you could feel like you were sucked into the SAR’s team journey.  While this is Brynn’s story you get to know each of the cast of and fall in love with all of them. So much so I wanted to know more about all of them.  I am hoping that Kendra will be writing a story for a few of them.  But back to the review.

I love the suspense of this book.  We know who the bad guy is, or at least we think we do. But yet we don’t know all the variable of the whys, the hows, or the true who’s.  Kendra takes up to the very end of the book before we truly understand everything that is happening.  But along the way we have a very sweet and tender beginning of a love story if they can just get off this mountain alive.

If you love a good suspense book I would highly suggest ordering a copy of Chilled.  I am very much looking forward to the next book Kendra has in store for us.

    I Also Recommend:

THIS BOOK IS A KEEPER ~ BEST OF 2012

This is the second installment in Kendra Elliot’s debut series, Bone Secrets. If you read the first installment, Hidden, then you have already met Alex Kinton, the hero of this book. If you haven’t read Hidden you should – it is excellent. However, no worries if you haven’t read Hidden this installment is stand-alone…Alex only played a very minor part – not that would alter your experience.

With all that said…this is my favorite book of 2012 – this author has created something extremely special. The characters are very well written; you gain a sense of the depth of each individual. Brynn Nealey is the only female member of the SAR team sent out into the wilderness in search of plane crash; aboard is a serial killer with nothing to lose. The author did a great job of creating a strong female lead with Brynn; even though the entire team is extremely protective she remains stubbornly independent – determined to forge her own path. Alex is your typical tormented-alpha male but, the author has given his character some extra spice. After he manipulates his way onto the SAR team he finds that his focus is challenged by the sexy-nurse. This book is categorized as Romantic Suspense/ Thriller; it leans more toward the suspense/thriller side – the romance is in the background…you get a great sense of the pull between the characters without being overwhelmed by it.

    more from this reviewer

Review based on the book. Great chilling suspense novel

As with the first book the author flawlessly takes us on a journey where the words just flow.

There are a lot of characters that we bounce back and forth with. A search and rescue team is assembled to go into the Cascade Mountains to search for survivors of a plane crash. On board the plane were two pilots, a US Marshal and a serial killer.

Sheriff Patrick Collins rounds up his SAR crew who are Jim Wolf and Thomas Todoroff, deputies with the Sheriff's ofc, Ryan Sheridan a cop from another county and Brynn Nealey (our heroine) who is a forensic nurse who goes along in case someone is hurt. At the last minute they get a call that a US Marshal is going to be joining them in there search. Alex Kinton (the hero) has lied his way onto the search team to search for his brother's killer to make sure he is either dead or reprehended.

The other characters are the serial killer Darrin Besand and Alex's old boss Paul Whittenhall.

We are lead from here on a chilling trek through the forest through freezing temps and snow. We learn about each of the rescue crew along the way. Alex after losing his brother and putting away the man who killed him and then eventually losing his job had done nothing for the past year but drink and take pills. He thought he was emotionally dead inside and struggles for most of the trip to find the plane about his attraction to Brynn and eventually to caring about everyone on the team.

If you love suspense this author is the one to read.
