Barrel racer Celia Lawson knows better than to tangle with bull rider Kyle Gilchrist. The sexy cowboy’s love ‘em and leave ‘em ways have earned him a reputation on the rodeo circuit, and he’s always seen her as his best friend’s kid sister. But after one wild, tequila-fueled night, Celia wakes up to find out she’s gotten herself hitched—to a man she never should have married!

When Celia insists on an annulment, Kyle has no good reason to say no—except he isn’t ready to let go of his new bride. But then Kyle inherits a sprawling Wyoming ranch, and seizes the opportunity to enlist Celia’s help. She agrees to lend a hand—with two conditions: He has to get up to speed as a rancher within six months; then they’ll get a divorce. And their marriage will be in name only.

Kyle gives in to Celia’s demand, yet he's ready to prove to her he has what it takes to turn their one night rodeo into a lifetime of love….

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
James’s fourth Blacktop Cowboys erotic contemporary western (after Wrangled and Tangled) takes readers on a satisfying ride. Celia Lawson hit the barrel-racing circuit to make her way in the world when she realized her brothers would make a success of their inherited family ranch without her. After taking a rough fall and boosting the painkillers with booze, she wakes up the next morning in Vegas, hung over and—to her complete shock—married to her childhood tormentor, bull rider Kyle Gilchrist. She demands an annulment, but Kyle, who’s wanted her for years, thinks they should stick it out. After he inherits a ranch out of the blue, he seduces Celia with the promise of running it together and exploring their sizzling chemistry. While James is known for erotic interludes, she never forgets to bolster the story with plenty of emotional power. Agent: Scott Miller, Trident Media Group. (Aug.)

I so enjoyed this book. The story was such a moving story of family and love. I know that might seem strange, as the book is under the Romance-Erotica category. This author balances the "Hot Scenes" into the storyline so well. You get invested in Kyle and Celia story by the end of the first chapter. It was great that all the characters in the other books in this series, were really in this story, and not just as a passing word. You got to find out the latest on Hank and Lanie, Abe and Janie, Renner and Tiernery and Bran and Harper.

    This one is a winner

Of this series, the second book, featuring Harper, and this one really shine. James really captures the little moments so beautifully...like when Kyle is fussing with the DVD cords. You can just feel what every character is going through as Kyle and Celia navigate this new chapter in their life. James uses all the little romance plot devices....the quicky vegas wedding, the out- of- the-blue inheritance, the pride crisis....but it is all layered beautifully with complex emotions and a life struggle. Also Kyle is such a sexy guy....not normally the type to appeal to me, but that is just a testament to James' storytelling ability. Read this one. I would skip Coralled and the one with Renner and Tierney unless you justfind you are hungry for backstory. They lack the emotional depth.

    Highly Recommended- A must read

I have read Lorelei James books since I found her first one. I loves her books, they are steamy and romantic. I highly recommend this series but you have to read them all in order to completely enjoy the story line.

    Worth Every Second!

I have loved this entire series, but I was really looking forward to finding out Kyle's Story! The wait was worth it, this story starts grabbing your attention and doesn't let it go. Hot scenes and great dialect. Please keep it coming!!!

    Best Blacktop Cowboy Book yet!

I bought this yesterday and pretty much put everything else to the side to read it. It was SO GOOD! Lorelei has done it again with her cowboys. Kyle was simply too hard to resist. I couldn't put the book down until I read the last page! Of course, I've been waiting for Kyle's book since I read the first Blacktop Cowboy book, Corralled. So I had pretty high expectations for this one, and let me tell you....Lorelei blew every one of those out of the water.

Celia has been present in all of the books and she seemed a little distant. I liked her, but I always felt like there was more going on. There was. In One Night Rodeo you find it all out. She turned out to be a woman I think we could all relate to in one way or another. Celia didn't change so much as she grew and showed all sides of her personality. I loved the back and forth between her and Kyle, it's been present from the start, but in this book it was different. As I read the book I was entranced by their relationship, I felt like I was right there with them.

Kyle is one heck of a cowboy. He's a bull rider, but has always wanted to own a ranch. Now he gets his chance. If you liked Kyle before when he was cocky and sometimes a jerk, then you're going to love his sweet and vulnerable side. That was probably the most surprising part of this book for me. Kyle's romantic side seemed so natural, while at the same time you knew as you read that it was something he pretty much only showed to Celia. It drew me in and wouldn't let go!

There is a scene that rivals the fainting goats from Lorelei James's Rough Rider series. When you read it, if you don't laugh out loud I would be surprised. It's by far one of my favorite scenes in any book I've read. Humor is very present in One Night Rodeo, and considering the history between Celia and Kyle it was expected. Lorelei didn't leave out the emotional tug though, at one point Kyle was being a pigheaded male and I wanted to both shake some sense in him and hold him close.

I could go on and on about this book, but it's better for you to just go buy it and read it. You don't have to read the other 3 books to understand this one...although I would recommend that you do because they are really good as well!!

Celia Lawson is married and she doesn't remember any details. Kyle Gilchrist is very happy about the marriage and is willing to fight to keep Celia. After he inherits a ranch he asks Celia to stick around for 6 months to help out and teach him how to ranch.

She agrees and he tried everything to get her to stay.

Very passionate read. Some erotic sexy parts but the passion pulls you in more.
