I have been to a few of our National Parks and early this summer I was planning another trip to Mammoth Cave NP. I decided to purchase this book to help me plan my trip. I thought I had everything all worked out, but thanks to this book I read about the Wild Cave tour and quickly booked it. The tour was amazing (and rugged) and it would not have happened without the recommendation of this book. I am so glad we didn't miss out on the experience. I am looking forward to more trips and seeing what other recommendations this book can bring me, because the first one was unforgettable!

The maps, the images, the detailed information, Your Guide to the National Parks has it all. For most "comprehensive" guidebooks you have to buy a companion guide for hiking details or outfitter information. Well, you don't have to any more thanks to this new title.

I have a complete library that covers most state parks, National Parks, lodges, trails, off-roading, etc. I found that "Your Guide to the National Parks" by Michael Joseph Oswald is the most complete book covering our national parks. His primary focus is on camping, however, I was delighted to find comprehensive coverage of lodging, restaurants, sights, activities (fishing, scuba diving), flora, birding, wildlife viewing, and grocery stores. His maps are excellent even though he recommends that if you are going to take any of the trails you should have a detailed trail map. The maps show many of the must see attractions and sights. His maps also show several of the better 4WD vehicle roads. He also covers travel planning; how to get there; local airports, and when to go etc. Day planning and what to see and when.
Whenever I buy a book like this I will check a location with which I am very familiar to see if the little know areas, sights, lodging, restaurants have been included; this book has them all!
