Off the Beaten Path is one of the most handsome, informative and neatly organized travel books I've seen...
Anyone planning a leisurely trip around the country would find Off the Beaten Path
a rewarding reference book to keep on the dashboard.
...is rich fodder for vacation planning. The well-illustrated guide will suit those who want a jostle-free vacation and prefer nature's attractions to the man-made variety.
Off the Beaten Path is a must have guide for any family. I live in NY and I found many great places I'd love to visit in the Tri-State area that I never heard of before.
With the economy such as it is many families are going to have to look in their own "backyard" to find fun and entertaining things to do. Off the Beaten Path gives readers many interesting options to explore.
The pictures are beautiful. I love the seasonal calendar guides as well as the maps. It's also helpful that each entry has a web site you can visit for more information.
This is a FABULOUS book!

This is a great book to use in planning for your travels! A map of each state and then wonderful places to visit that you might not see if you look for the "big billing" of most vacation/recreation stops in a state. Includes historic sites, zoos, museums, and hiking possibilities...for the family and for the young or senior aged folks! A great gift for your friends or family with wanderlust!

This was a Christmas gift and we have had so much fun going through it marking places we'd like to visit. We each used a different color postie note to mark our preferred vacation spots. We should get years of travel fun out of this! Although it only gives a partial page of information about each location, it is just enough to make a quick decision. If you decide to visit any one of the locations, you might want to go to another source to do more detailed research and in most cases it gives you a web site to do that deeper dive. Many of the recomendations are truely off the beaten path, ones you would probably never discover on your own. Others are the less used parks which makes it nice if you are traveling at the height of the season - a little less competition for nature.
