    Don't bother

Patience. You will need A LOT of time and patience. I love the lonely planet books; this one was my first travel ebook, and certainly my last. Pages were slow to open (if at all) "e reader not responding" is what one will often see when trying to turn the page. Not what one would want to happen when on the road trying to find alternative hotels, or to go back to the map. Stick with the good ole paperback!... and if that is not possible, just wing it, Madagascar won't let you down.
