We have a very dog-eared copy of the 4th edition of this book and I am buying the latest edition. I live in Osaka and I have been to Kyoto 30 times in the last nine months. The Lonely Planet book is with me every time and it has never been wrong. It is concise and correct and I have never found it to be missing any piece of important information. My comments are really focussed on the the Sights and Shopping more than the restaurants or hotels.

I have the hard copy of this guide, and because I liked the guide, I bought it in Nook ebook form to make it easier to carry while traveling. This was my first Nook book (app used was Nook for iPad). It simply did not work-- would not load; maps were useless; pages were slow to turn. All in all, a total waste of money. I don't blame Lonely Planet, but I won't be buying any more Nook books. I don't have this problem with Kindle for iPad.
