Frommer's, 4/16/2014 - Pauline Frommer
Fred Plotkin, author of what is, arguably, the foodies “bible” to Italy, a three-inch thick book called Italy for the Gourmet Traveler. Its 5th edition is debuting in bookstores this month.
The New York Times
“Takes dead aim at the brain’s pleasure centers, conjuring up a seductive vision of simple but succulent meals dished out to hardy fisherfolk surrounded by gorgeous scenery.”
Rick Steves
"The definitive guide for Italian food culture."
The Observer - Nigel Slater
“Mr. Plotkin will not simply lead you to the busiest market, the frothiest cappuccino and the most fragrant bakery, but also to hidden trattorias and grocery shops. This is the work of a discerning greedy writer. There is even a bonus of 42 recipes."
N
Financial Times - Philippa Davenport
“An outstanding book, remarkable for its breadth of coverage, full of insights and compulsive reading. Plotkin eats where locals eat, shops where they shop, celebrates local folklore and festivals, visits museums, vineyards, craft bakers and other artisan food producers and generally relishes life ‘con brio’.”
Carole Field
“The perfect food lover’s guide to Italy.”
