Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
The road trips in this guide offer something for most driving-inclined travelers. Tours emphasize types of scenery, geographic areas, and various aspects of Irish culture. Itineraries stretch from two days to two weeks, focusing on larger tourist attractions but also including lesser-known sights. For shorter drives off the beaten path, readers may prefer Donna Dailey's Back Roads Ireland. Overall, the book is easy to navigate, with clear routes and maps at several scales. However, the focus on specific trips and sights comes at the expense of some of the general artistic, cultural, and historical background often available in a standard guide. Also, the book appears to have a European audience in mind; tips for Americans are largely buried in a separate section at the end. VERDICT An enjoyable addition for travelers who have already explored what standard Irish travel guides have to offer.—Audrey Barbakoff, Kitsap Regional Lib., Bainbridge Island, WA

I used this book as a jumping off point for our whirlwind drivin

I used this book as a jumping off point for our whirlwind driving vacation around the entire Emerald Isle. The book provided a great reference of where to go and what to see. I would have loved morespecific references of where photos used in teh book were taken, though we were able to find many of the locations we wanetd through exploration on our own. we didn't drive any one single trip start-to-finish, but the book provided great help on driving many of the passes and pointed out smaller, lesser known sights that we might have driven by without knowing.
A great resource to use in your planning, I highly reccomend this book!
