Captivating read! I read it first while still a student in college, right after it was originally published...and it inspired me to travel to the Pacific Northwest to see some of the places he wrote of.

    The Good Rain?

Egan does very well at decribing the NW and what it was like during the early 19th century. he also has a lot of facts stuffed into the chapters which can make it a bit wordy. when i first picked up the book i wondered what he ment by 'the good rain', now i know.
