    A Must Read Book

I purchased the origional 1946 hard-cover editon about 25 years ago for 10 cents at a library book sale. This first publication sat on my bookshelf for about 2 years before I began to read it. Since then, I have read it about 20 times. Captivating to say the least-thrilling to the most, it sets you up for the big events all through the chapters. A must read for everyone.

A gripping walk on the wild side

I first read this book, Maneaters of Kumaon, as a young woman, and in turn read it to my sister who loves tigers as much as I. Jim Corbett became my hero from that moment, and tigers, my favorite animal. Get ready to sit on the edge of your seat.

    An Adrenalin Rush

I read this book as a kid and loved it even more in 2005. Very detailed descriptions of tracking and outwitting exteremely dangerous tigers and leopards in the Nepal forests before most of the tigers were shot, the population grew and all the tourists arrived.

    Vegetarians Beware!

An utterly astounding account of intuitive human battle against nature's most powerful and cunning hunters. These rogue tigers, turned from their normal prey to humans, are the most formidible carnivores on earth. When all else has failed, Jim Corbett faces them, and he does so alone.

    A Masterpiece By The Master

This was the first book of Corbett's that I read, and I was hooked from the start. Corbett's intelligence in hunting these maneaters is remarkable. The intensity of the situations he describes had me sitting on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. This book, as well as his others, are full of close calls and pure excitement. A must read for all hunters and outdoorsman. Definitely a page turner.

A captivating book. One of the best you'll ever read.

Man-Eaters of Kumaon is a captivating book that will immediatelly grab you and keep you on the edge of your seat until the last page has turned. Filled with the true tales of Jim Corbett, a hunter on man-eating tigers in the Kumaon region of India. Corbett has written and lived 'The Ghost in the Darkness' of the tiger world. This book is packed full of history and adventure, a great read even for those that find history dull.

An incredible man, an incredible story!

This is a glimpse of a life that I find facinating. I have never hunted but I see how this book explains the importance at times to know how. I feel like I have just left India. It is such a visual book.
