Perpetual supporting actress Judy Greer is perhaps best recognized for her recurring part on Arrested Development, but beyond that, it's a "take your pick": 27 Dresses; The Wedding Planner; Archer; Two and a Half Men. All of those non-starring roles make her a perfect candidate for a hilarious, self-depreciating memoir, a la Tina Fey. Make no mistake though: I Don't Know What You Know Me From is no mere imitation. Here Greer deserves top billing of her own.

A memoir by a rare breed of Hollywood actress: happy, well-adjusted and working. Greer, who has appeared in nearly 100 movies and TV roles (this is her first book), knows she is lucky. Her unconventional parents—her mother was fired from a convent before she could take her final vows as a nun—wholeheartedly supported her teenage ballet and acting aspirations, and she got cast, after her first audition, in a movie with David Schwimmer. This is not a Hollywood roman à clef; Greer doesn't dish and is amazed by and grateful for her good fortune. She embodies the role she calls "the ultimate movie best friend…funny, cute, sassy and approachable." She is so approachable, in fact, that people who believe they recognize her routinely ask, "What do I know you from?" Her initial response: "First of all, hi." During her 15-year career, she has become proficient at what she calls "fan profiling." Meet the Author

Judy Greer was born in Detroit and studied at The Theatre School, DePaul University’s prestigious theater conservatory program. She is one of the most prolific actresses of her time, appearing in more than eighty roles across film, television, and the stage. Greer also stars in her own Yahoo! series called Reluctantly Healthy. She currently resides in Los Angeles.

    "Omy gosh. Me too!" That's what you'll find yourself s

    "Omy gosh. Me too!" That's what you'll find yourself saying over and over again while reading this book. With each new story from her life, Judy Greer really made me feel like one of her oldest friends. She's candid and funny without forcing a punchline. It's a compilation of stories from the moments that have lead her to the brink of stardom. I knew OF Judy before I read this book. I'd seen her in many of my favorite movies and shows and have come to quote her character's quips with my friends. However, after reading this book I feel like I actually KNOW Judy. She's sweet and hopeful and a little disheveled in a completly relatable way. I'll be sharing this book with each of my best friends, knowing full well that we'll be quoting it in no time.

    Judy Greer is that actress who has been in everything. The title

    Judy Greer is that actress who has been in everything. The title of her memoir, I Don't Know Where You Know Me From, references the fact that people come up to her, but can't quite remember what they have seen her in.
    She's usually the best friend/co-worker (in 27 Dresses and The Wedding Planner) or the nerdy/oversexed TV guest star (Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, Arrested Development).  For someone who has worked with so many famous actors, Greer really doesn't dish much. If you are looking for gossip on Katherine Heigl or Jennifer Lopez, you won't find it here.
    We do get a nice story about how Ashton Kutcher bought her dad a motorcycle, and the time she was in the restroom with Jennifer Lopez, but mostly it's about her life as a working actor, going from city to city and job to job.
    Greer seems like the girl-next-door, and the most interesting chapters include one where she asked her closest friends (who are not in showbiz) to write about what's it's like being her friend, and how she fell in love with a man who has two tween children, and a ex-wife who is a sheriff, and how they shared two homes hours away from each other. (She made it into a sitcom, but alas it didn't last long.)
    Reading it, I felt like I was talking to my best friend, and that is the reason to read this book, not for juicy Hollywood gossip. You'll have to watch TMZ for that.

    I knew her from Jawbreaker

    I like Judy Greer - she is one of the few actors I never get tired of seeing, even now on commercials I still watch her. I have followed her on reluctantly healthy as well. I enjoyed the book for what it was, a brief look into her past and glimps into the present. I do wish there would have been more insight into her film roles (LOVED her in Jawbreaker!) but that was not the case.

      I think Judy Greer's acting roles are exactly like I Don't Kno

      I think Judy Greer's acting roles are exactly like I Don't Know What You Know Me From. It isn't interesting enough to be a book on its own. There was never really a moment that made me go "Oh!" and become engrossed in this book. Greer's writing and the content just weren't engaging. There is nothing wrong with us ordinary folk, but I wouldn't read a book about my neighbor's life. And that's exactly what this felt like.

      It was an easy read, don't get me wrong. It was light, funny, and sweet. But that's the thing. It was too light. I didn't feel like there was enough substance to keep my interest for very long. Usually, I enjoy a good memoir. Chelsea Handler's are some of my favorites. A look into a different world are very appealing to me, whether they're in memoirs or fiction works. This book just didn't give off that vibe.

      Ultimately, this book just didn't do it for me. If you have some sort of connection to Judy Greer or her career, I Don't Know What You Know Me From may be more of your type of book.

    I expected a little more....

    I've read quite a few biographies of celebrities and when I get done I want to be their friend and know more about them. After reading Judy Greer's, I think I'd be friends with her because she is so normal but it did not make for the best book to read. It's quick and easy and it makes you like her but it was not the most entertaining book I've read. She had a few funny stories but I was wanting more juicy stories about her run ins with other celebrities.
