Overview

"He swore to take a bullet for the President and left it all behind to take a bullet for the American people"

Why would a successful, twelve-year Secret Service agent resign his position in the prime of his career to run for political office against all the odds?

New York Timesbestseller,Life Inside the Bubbleis an intimate look at life inside the presidential “bubble,” a haze of staffers, consultants, cronies, acolytes, bureaucrats and lobbyists that creates the “alternate reality” in which monumental policy decisions are made.

And it is the story of a dedicated Secret Service professional who, after years inside the “bubble,” walked away in favor of sounding a clarion call to the American people in defense of sane government and the US Constitution.

Finally, why the Fast & Furious scandal, the bombings in Boston and the terrorist attacks in Benghazi are harbingers of what’s to come without a bold change in direction.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
For Dan Bongino to leave the Secret Service to fight the permanent political class could not have been easy, but his bravery is easily one of the reasons why Americans are learning more about how the D.C. 'Bubble' grows but never pops. — Matthew Boyle, Investigative Journalist, Breitbart News

Life Inside the Bubble is a very interesting book. Dan Bongino tells of his rough childhood, his service in the police and secret service, and his decision to leave the secret service to run for political office. It is well written and very interesting.

    Kind of a Snooze

As an avid reader and former Obama supporter I expected more from this book. Mr. Bogino might have juicy secrets to share, but they aren't in this book and he would probably be breaking the law if he did share them. This book is a personal attaboy and feels more as though Bogino is trying to convinve himself why he left his job rather than trying to convince me our government is a hot mess. It's propaganda for a man trying to run for political office. In effect, more of the same. News flash....the current President wrote a boring self-aggrandizing book, too.

    Not as good as expected

I found the first half of the book to be of interest, but the second half more of a political manifesto of the author's view of his run for senate and the washington elite. I was not interested in hearing his views on the subject and lost interest in this book as I read on.

    more from this reviewer

This memoir concludes with a stern warning from an honorable man

This memoir concludes with a stern warning from an honorable man.  Dan Bongino served as a Secret  Service agent  in the elite Presidential Protective Division for both G.W. Bush and Barack Obama.  He did  assignments at home and abroad in such places as France, Trinidad, and Afghanistan. Bongino now sees a national security bureaucracy that is out of control with competing fiefdoms, duplicate missions, and lack of oversight and accountability.  In the final pages of this fascinating read, Bongino says, "when you forfeit your personal information without a fight, it will be abused.  It is only a matter of when, not if." Let's open our eyes, America,  to our rapidly diminishing civil liberties and heed  this insider's warning.

    Good reading

Learn what a Secret Service Agent has to endure to faithfully serve the President of the USA and why this man gave up his high position to run for Congress.

    Highly Recommend an inside look

Easy read and a perspective on events and views one usually doesn't get. Not the same usual suspects and usual points of view. Bongino does a wonderful job of pointing out fallacies in the progressive big government agenda without sacrificing his principles or his previous role in the Secret Service. Not the book for you if you are looking for a tell all or dirt on protectees of the Secret Service.

ok from stand point of content

This was interesting, but not "eye-popping or extremely compelling" to me. I have heard Bongino interviewed before and I'd vote for him in an instant over most current candidates for public office. Hopefully, if he is successful as he tries his 2nd run for office, he won't be corrupted as most are after they take office (forgive my editorilizing)!

If you worship at the feet of the federal government...

... don't read this book. But if you deal in reality, you won't be disappointed by this front-row look inside the Secret Service. Bongino does a nice job describing the mindset of some of the bravest men and women on earth - those who've pledged themselves to, if necessary, take a bullet for the president. He also sticks a pin in the belief of some that administrations are totally altruistic.
